Still don't own a player. The Blockbuster guy always makes a point to tell me they have on DVD whatever video I bring up. He's half my age & cops a little attitude with me about how I can still not have a player. Makes me want to wait even longer to get one.:)
Maybe I'll have one in time for the next big Mac DVD release.

We are now the proud new owners of the complete Monty Python DVD set! I got a killer price on Barnes and Noble online so I threw in Life of Brian and Meaning of Life as well. I always liked Monty Python, but now I'm seeing some stuff that I had never seen before (like stuff after John Cleese left) and it's HYSTERICAL! CARIBOU! GONE! It's good to know I haven't already seen all the good stuff!

Alex Lifeson always seemed so quiet! Ah well, Canadians and their beer! Rock and Roll...

And for the record I don't have a cell phone, and while I DO have a DVD player, it's a combo unit with a VHS as well. I have too many 15-20 year old bootleg tapes to be without VHS!

xdreamsunwindx 01-03-2004 02:14 PM

I just bought No Doubt's Rock Steady Live DVD... I still have yet to watch it, along with all of the DVDs that came with my No Doubt boxed set... Maybe I'll do that later this afternoon  .

Oh, and I find DVDs to be the biggest P.I.T.A, even though I have quite a few of them... Stupid technology

Alison 01-03-2004 02:38 PM

In the last month or so we bought these:

Micheal W. Smith Worship
Jonah a veggietales movie.... I'm a big fan on Larry boy
Who gets the house.

The other day I almost bought a Sheryl Crow live dvd, but didn't
have the money at the time.

i want to get Freeky Friday next.

GardenStateGirlie 01-03-2004 03:05 PM

I bought my dad The Godfather boxed set and season 1 of The Sopranos for Christmas. I bought my mom Sex and the City seasons 1-4. That's the most recent to come into our house.

Jake, you can have one of our DVD players. There's one for like, each TV in the house and my parents don't even know how to work them.

wondergirl9847 01-03-2004 04:35 PM

Only one...well..two..hehe

I got Finding Nemo on DVD for Christmas and then, after Christmas, I bought From Justin to Kelly on DVD! I can't wait to get this in the mail so I can see the Justin scenes that were cut from the final product.

Merf 01-03-2004 04:44 PM

I got "Clerks" and "Y Tu Mama Tambien" for Christmas on DVD.

I've also bought "PCU" and "Empire Records" recently.

However, your mom can come and chill at my house anytime:cool:

I did get a lot of DVD's for Christmas, but I did get a bit of money as well....

LOL...I was just talking about AbFab to some friends...I was over at a friend's house and she's got a Karaoke machine...so much fun was had with that...we video taped ourselves being asses for a far away friend...ANYWAY...it reminded me of the end of "Birthday" when Patsy and Eddy are playing with the Karaoke machine....so hilarious!!!

I also reeeeaaaaalllly want the AbFab entire set...and the specials...a friend of mine and I are always lapsing into random AbFad scenes...much to to confusion of those around us...unfortunately I've not been able to see the show is a really long time :(

WHEEEEELS ON FIIIIRE...ROLLING DOWN THE ROOOOOOOAD... lol

I do love the episode with the PR award with Eddy singing...
"like a bird on a wire...like a drunk in a midnight choir..."

If you can find the entire set on video, snatch it up. It comes with a bonus video called "How To Be Absolutely Fabulous" and has quickly become a collectors item with a lot of moolah. I've seen them go on eBay for $120! I won't sell mine, though.

Have you seen the "Moments" special? It's hysterical. Eddie is making a documentary about her life and she shoots it at Gran's goodwill shop. To make herself look good, she tries on some of the donated clothes and some homeless bum steals her LaCroix outfit.

My favorite episode was "Orgy." It never fails to make me fall on the floor laughing! "They don't put fingers on these gloves."

Yes I have actually and it's facinating seeing them as different characters.

If you have some icehouse she probably would LOL. Im 26 and she's 45. She's the one loving Dave Matthews and Pearl Jam and I'm into Fleetwood Mac and we always joke who is the older one?! But she is obsessed with Dave Matthews and will play the dvd everyday she tells me. I will have to see it I guess :)

AHHHHHH! I know! Total BS. I think eventually we'll see them on BBC America or another channel.

I LOVE YOUR BANNER!!!! I cannot wait for a new episode. This waiting is driving me NUTS. Oh, and is it just me or was Will incredibly sexy playing the Brit when she pulled him out of witness protection??

Thank you! I fancy it myself. :D

I am *dying* for a new episode. It hasn't been on since the first week of December and it won't return until next week. However, from what I've heard, it is going to be the episode of all episodes, i.e. we'll find out what happened to Syd for those two years!!! Have you seen the preview yet?

Will was always one of my favorites, but he ROCKED last episode. It was so awesome when he fought with Faux-cie (Alison) and Syd kicked Sark's ass. I was a tad mad that they killed Faux-cie, though. That means no more Merrin EVER. And they *need* to bring will back for good, not just one eppy.

Have you gotten the DVDs yet? The commentaries are fantastic. Merrin cracks me up with her jokes about the sexual tension between Francie and Syd. And the deleted scenes are great, too.

Re: What new DVD's have you purchased?

Say You Will Dvd-A
Rumours Dvd-A (figures, I don't even have the whole 5:1 thing. I have two ears, not six, thank you very much.)
Stevie at Red Rocks (and it was about time!)
Rick Vito In Concert
Can's double-DVD (kicks serious butt)

Also, got Spinal Tap for Christmas. What else does one need?

golden braid 01-05-2004 01:33 AM

I'm old fashioned and still buy videos. I don't have a dvd player although my roommate does. I'm not into buying videos unless they are Fleetwood Mac. :)

Janet 01-05-2004 04:36 AM

Totally OT but I want AN X FILES BANNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the Alias banner but I haven't seen one second of the show. I do have a friend who is obsessed by it though.

I want an X Files banner. Can someone make one for me :( I have the pics and the layout in my little head but I can't make them!!!

I have to update my PhotoShop, I'll let you know when I'm done. :D

Until then, try Banner Maker Pro. You can download it free for two weeks and it's pretty neat and VERY easy.

Tell you what, if you get Dolby Digital 5.1 surround, you will think you have 6 ears….;)

The Rumours DVD-A sounds absolutely stunning in surround mode…I heard sounds and instruments I had never heard in the old analog mix on CD. It was like hearing the album for the first time again.

Some of my recent purchases:

The Two Towers Extended Edition
Scarface – 20th Anniversery Edition
American Beauty (One of my favorites…had it since it was released but someone stole it during a little soriee at the house!)
A River Runs Through It
Collection is 200+ and growing!

I am a DVD/film junkie.

I just bought "Reversal Of Fortune" on DVD (the one with Glenn Close and Jeremy Irons about the von Bulows) from my local video store today, along with a bunch of videos.

They are slowly going into DVDs, so their videos are on sale for buy one, get one free. So, I bought ten.

hayley 01-05-2004 11:55 PM

I finally got Hedwig & the Angry Inch and Ghost World on DVD- they're two of my favorite films but I never actually owned them- got them for Christmas!

I also bought Alias Season 2 and am trying to grab Season 1 off eBay- I sped through watching both seasons in less than a week, which is SO pathetic!

I also bought some cheap DVDs at Target a couple of weeks ago- Pump Up The Volume, The Big Lebowski, Dark City... and have several new DVDs from work- Dixie Chicks Live, Judas Priest- Electric Eye, Bruce Springsteen Live in Barcelona, and Tenacious D- The Complete Masterworks, which I TOTALLY recommend to any fan of the D.

I also bought the Battlestar Galactica DVD set for my father for Christmas, who loved it. It's a really awesome set if you like that schlocky preachy sci-fi crap.
