Buckingham Nicks CD In Store
 

Okay... this is really weird, but I was at a doctor's clinic the other day, and there is a music store right across from it, and so my brother goes over there to buy a poster, and I sit in the car blaring "Stop Draggin My Heart Around", while him and my mom go in the store. It's Christmas, she's doing the shopping, and so, a few minnutes into the song, I see her in the store, she motions me to come in, so I do.... They have a CD of Buckingham Nicks:eek: :confused: I was very confused, and said "mom, this has never been on CD, it was a record..." I knew it had to be a bootleg.... I tell her, it's very cool that they have it, still thinking that somethings not right...But the CD had the same cover art/ there was back art too. So I go back out in the car, all happy that my mom is gonna get it for me, and I see her motion again. I go back in, and my mom, and the workers have been talking, and they have opened the CD... it's a bootleg:rolleyes: Yep, a bootleg CD in a record store... I'm thinking, this makes no sense... The cashiers say we can listen to it, since it's a bootleg, to hear the quality, in case we were interested.... The sound is crystal clear. I say "I want it" :D I know alot of you think that buying bootlegs is really bad, and I KNOW it is,:distress: but how many times are you going to get the chance to find Buckingham Nicks in ALASKA?I mean , it was awsome... The price was VERY ridiculous 30.00:eek:
But still..... I had to get it.... Any comments... or flames*

I just downloaded the tracks from BuckinghamNicks.net and burnt them onto a CD.

Saved me $30.

I saw a copy of the bootleg Buckingham Nicks CD at a local record store also. I didn't buy it since I already had it. I do always look for the original album in the used record area though.

I also found it in a little record shop in Albuquerque once, but didn't get it, it was also 30 bucks, and I was broke at the time, but later went back and they didn't have it anymore. They did, however, have it on vinyl, so I just bought that.

I don't like to download songs... It takes up space on our dinasour of a computer.

How cool is your mom??!! I love it when Fleetwood Mac turns into a family affair :) In high school, my brother and I went to the local flea market on Sundays to look for records (I was all about getting whatever I could of the Mac on vinyl). It turned into a weekly affair and we had fun. Well, my dad wanted to come along one Sunday. We split up and met later at the food area to see what each other had...well, guess what my dad had bought? A MINT condition of Buckingham Nicks! The seller wanted $40, but my dad sweet talked him down to $20. He was so excited to give it to me! (Not to mention how freakin' ecstatic I was!) He still talks about how he had found it. It's become part of our family lore. Rock on!

I know, it is great when it becomes a family affair. My mom is always looking for Stevie/Mac related things... I think it's funny when my brother gets on ebay to find stuff he thinks I don't already have, for a gift.... And I DO have them:laugh:

I've seen BN on CD in a used record shop before... It was of course a boot. They wanted $30 for it, and it was packaged so badly that I didn't even consider buying it. They also had some bootleg LPs, such as the Sin City boot (with the picture of all of them in bed from the Rolling Stone magazine on the cover), and some others. I found bootlegs of the Tusk Documentary at another record shop and not knowing that it wasn't legit, I bought it. Oh well :rolleyes: .

Look, many of us don't have turn tables at home so a cd is a must. That is the only way to hear this great album.

I bought the gatefold back in the day for like $50 or whatever. But I could never listen to it. A nice woman Nancy made me a tape of it, which was great.

Then another nice friend Angela made me a cd :):) That was cool too. So many bootlegs, too little time! I just had to have it-sorry:) When it comes out officially on cd, I'll be getting it. And I did buy that record for like 500 times it's original price I'm sure.

If the CD in the store was not good quality, both in sound, and in looks, I wouldn't have wanted it. The cover art was GREAT, the sound quality crystal, and if I didn't know it hadn't been released on CD, I would have thought it was real. It's the only bootleg I've ever bought, besides a BTM video, when I didn't even know what a bootleg was

My two cents...if Lindsey would remaster the album and rerelease it then we wouldn't even have to have this conversation about bootlegs! Give the album the justice it deserves. Rerelease it!!

I found mine here in 1983-ish in a record store called Wax Trax for like $8. Then later I saw another store selling them (these were non gatefold) still sealed. They actually had a bunch of them in a display. I'm assuming that this is the time they went out of print or they just ended up with someone else's back stock. This was also around the time when CD's were introduced.

It seems legit and includes the single version of 'Cryin in the Night'

An easy rule of thumb, is that 'Buckingham Nicks' has never been officially released on CD anywhere in the world.

The only officially released formats were vinyl (issued as a gatefold, and later in a standard sleeve), cassette, and 8-track.

If you find it on CD somewhere, it's most definitely a bootleg. Unfortunately. :(

I have BN on gatefold and standard release. I also have a nice copy on cd that someone burned for me from vinyl. I can burn a copy if someone doens't have it and wants to trade.

sometimes i think that they don't want to release it intentionally.
it's like the last gem, or treasure that they have, and once it's out, the anticipation and mystery is over. What else is there (besides bootlegs of unreleased songs) that they can offer that the public knows about? In other words, everyone has heard about the Buckingham Nicks album but the regular joe is gonna have a hard time finding it.

Is the standard release the one they released after they joined FM? I always saw the Gatefold or the one that mentioned they were from FM somwhere on the cover.

Maybe I'm just lucky...but I bought a brand new gatefold Buckingham Nicks album in a record storeback in 1978 for about $5! I had become a new fan of Fleetwood Mac and was very surprised to discover this historical album. Since then, I see it every now and then in used record stores for anywhere from $10 to $25, depending on the condition. There was also a cheap knock-off edition of the album that was released during the Rumours era to capitalize on the success of Fleetwood Mac -- this one didn't have the gatefold.

I'm really fortunate to also have the album on cassette and 8 track format!! Also, have the singles...including the Crying In the Night picture sleeve. I don't want to appear to be bragging...I'm just amazed that I have these!!! And I acquired them with very little effort or money.

Ptff bootletgs... just give me my darn music!!!

I wish i remembered where i did read that the BN album will be released by march of next year.
It was on one off the websites dedicated to Stevie. I even believe it was English.
That is no joke, it seems that one of the engineers (Ken) gave a comment that the should sell it over E-bay.
It was something in that style, no joke.

But honestly, it's aiking that people try to sell bootlegs. Even it's a gift, F**** 'm.
