Sweat, Tears, and Touselled Hair in Boston!!
I just got back from the most amazing concert EVER. They pulled out all the stops tonight, folks! Stevie was WILD, Lindsey was WILDER!
So, I get into Boston around 4pm with my mother. She loves the Mac, too, and I had an extra ticket so I figured I'd let her come. LOL I'm looking around for a good place to get some grub and I come across a Chinese restaurant. It's name? Shangri-La! I had to eat there. Parking was a real bitch and the Big Dig in Boston really f*cked up the traffic, so I finally got to the Fleet Center around 6:30. I quickly smuggled two disposables cameras (one in my crotch, the other in a box of wipes for glasses!) and whipped out my front row tickets! I bought a tour book (whoever said it sucks is full of hot-air!), some keychains, a shirt, and a lame-ass poster that I just had to get anyway. On the way to my seats, I was in an elevator with a woman who got ripped off really badly for tickets. She paid $700 for two tix for the floor, but was 15 rows back from the stage! I felt so sorry for the thing. So, I get to my seats and they are three feet from the goddam stage!! I was on Stevie's side, so I reached up and felt the ribbons and beads on her mic stand! Nothing special, just velvet and nylon. :D They were setting up the cameras for the taping and I found out that it is for the Soundstage series. Hopefully that doesn't me it'll get cut down to an hour, because this show kicked MAJOR ASS! The show was supposed to start at 8pm, but didn't start until 8:30 because they wer ehaving difficulties with some cameras. Each time a tech guy walked out onto the stage, the audience thought it was a band member and started cheering. But finally, it started.... The Chain- Stevie stole the spotlight with this one. She really got into it, especially the third verse. She didn't really spin, but made up for it later. Lindsey had a HUGE smile on. Dreams- Same as always, except Lindsey wouldn't look at Stevie during the song! Peacekeeper- They have this down pat. The new back-up singer added a great new dimension to this song, IMO. She really lifted it up. Stevie made a few funny faces during it and Lindsey did the same to her. Eyes of the World- EVRYONE KNEW THIS SONG AND SANG ALONG! My heart palpitated! Stevie went wild with the background vocals, she let loose. Lindsey BELTED it out with gusto. Say You Will- Cute! I love her dance during this song, it's adorable. Second Hand News- Great, but I was singing so loudly that I couldn't hear them. NGBA- Beautiful. Lindsey whispered the lyrics practically. It had a harmony that I never thought I'd hear; it was amazing. Rhiannon- This is where Stevie really started to realize it was being filmed and began to vamp it up! She was screaming and hollering at the end of it. She just kept going and going. Come- The biggest applause of the night. Lindsey was in ecstasy. Once again, I was amazed that everyone knew the words. When it was over, someone screamed "I'm doing it!!" and Lindsey laughed. Stevie went over to change shawls for Gypsy, but did it right onstage! She took off her cardigan and revealed some sexy spagetti straps... And Mama Nicks has some MAJOR cleavage. Take it from someone who's seen it close-up, MAJOR!! Gypsy- AWESOME! She sang the high parts and EVERYTHING. She sang "Bright eyes" quite a bit, too! She was pointing at us in the front row and then pointed right at me and smiled! I smiled back...sweetly. Big Love- Gorgeous. Lindsey seemed disappointed that it ended! LOL Landslide- The *SHOCK* of the night!!!!!!!!!!! Stevie started to say that she chose the Boston shows and tapings to reveal a secret to us all and that it would only be told to us at the Boston shows. When it was time for the dedication, she explained. She was dedicating it to LINDSEY and that she wrote it about him!!! She then said that he taught her how to play it with a pick and that she loves him. Lindsey was sort of shaking his head towards Stevie in a discreet way, trying to hide it from the audience. She smiled back at him as he shook his head ever so slightly and...a tear slid down his cheek. Yes, a tear, NOT SWEAT, people!! He turned his back to the audience and wiped it off, shook his head, flipped back around, and started playing. I started to cry myself. :( It was a beautiful moment. When Stevie went over to him during his solo, she stood behind him as usual with her hands on his shoulders, but as she did that, he gently closed his eyes and nodded. When the song was over, they just stared at each other for a moment, as if it was a really awkward moment. So beautiful. Say Goodbye- They never took their eyes off of each other for a moment. Stevie shined with her vocals, so soft and delicate. WTWCT- AWESOME. Lindsey's best vocal of the night. Mick really got into it. Actually, the whole band did. It was great. Beautiful Child- Heartbreaking. Stevie went wild with it towards the end. Instead of the usual "I love you, I love you" she sang "I love you, I still need you, I need you, I love you." But she hit notes that sent shivers. She really cut loose like never before on that song, dragging out each line with power. GDW- WHOA! WHOA! WHOA! A woman possessed. Not only did she wail more than on the Dance, but she was kicking her feet into the air and punching her fist into the air. She kicked so much and so high that...I saw her bloomers. I'm not proud, but I did. Black, for those who are curious. Anyways, she went mental. She knew this was on camera and pushed herself to the limit, vocally and physically. I've never seen it performed so well and I probably never will again. Of every song tonight, this was her in all her glory, bloomers and all. ;) I'm So Afraid- Lindsey was having such a great time on this song that he did it longer than usual. He was going nuts with his guitar, acting like he was going to break it by smashing it. When he crouched down at the edge of the stage, everyone rushed and touched his shoes. He loved the attention, BTW. Silver Springs- I almost forgot this! She killed it. It was simply amazing. She kicked it into high gear at the end. Screaming and wailing at Lindsey. Stand Back- Once again, she knew she was being filmed and danced her heart out. She did a lot of impromptu stuff and pranced around the stage like a wildcat. She went over to every back-up band member and danced for them! Awesome. Oh, and Lindsey did the chicken dance during the intro. I was like, "WTF?!" Tusk- One of my faves. Not only did Stevie and Lindsey pretend to have a fistfight, but...they wrapped their arms around each other, put their heads together, and slow-danced for a hot minute. They just embraced each other and practically stood there, clutching each other. Then they seemed to realize they were in the middle of the song and started back up again. GYOW- Another standard, but worth its weight in gold. It was flawless. World Turning- My BIG moment with Lindsey and Stevie!!! Lindsey came over to our side and got as close to us as possible. He kneeled and extended his guitar for us to strum Of course, I pounced on him and started strumming like a nut. He found it amusing and toussled my hair! So...I toussled his right back! I nearly died. Stevie saw this and pointed at us and smiled! I started to withdraw, but he grabbed my habd, put it back onto the guitar, and banged it up and down on the strings!! I was in heaven... Don't Stop- I got the eyes from Stevie during this one. She looked at me right before the "All I want is to see you smile..." and played air guitar, in reference to my "incident" with Lindsey! Wooohooo! Awesome version, too. Goodbye Baby- The joint was silent. Stevie had tears in her eyes and looked out at the audience with a loving expression. I cried. It was the night of my life. I was right there, so I took some HOT pictures!! If they develop good, they will be some great shots; I got them at great moments. I'll post 'em as soon as I get them back from CVS! Look forward to the PBS show, because this concert will *astound* you. Stevie was the Stevie from yesteryear; she was unbelievable. And she is GORGEOUS in person. Also, the camera does add ten pounds. She's a skinny mini, IMO. Absolutely stunning. If I can think of anyhting else, I post it; I'm still excited and can't think to write anyhting else LOL |
WOHOOO!!!! So, how was THE MEETING OF ALL MEETINGS?!?! Do tell

Wow! Excellent review! I hope a recording of this show surfaces soon!

Dissention, honey, thanks for that amazing review. I'm so glad you had such an awesome time!!! That "Landslide" thing was just so adorable-- I wish I could have seen that! I'm LOL at Stevie's comment that she "chose the Boston shows" to reveal this secret... it's going to be on TV so I guess she was ready for the whole world to know ;) It sounds like an incredibly special moment and I'm happy such a big fan got to witness it :)

HAVE FUN IN D.C! They are amazing on the second leg, honey!! Edited to add: Brett Tuggle is the BIGGEST FLIRT! He was giving my mother the eyes throughout the WHOLE show. I couldn't believe it! Finally, after Don't Stop, he was giving her the thumbs up and winking at her. I told her to throw up her phone number to him. |

Wow! What an awesome night. How did you get to meet the band?
|
I am so glad for you! I was thinking about you and your big night while I was watching the debate. I hope to Gawd someone taped this show. And Stevie "From one wild heart to another..." She amazes me. I am dying to see the pics. Isn't Lindsey just the coolest? I'm bummed that you didn't get to meet McVie. I can't wait to see the PBS show now. Your review was great.:)

Regarding someone taping the show, I have a question. When I was leaving the venue, I used the elevator to get to the garage. Some guy was in there with his cell phone and was talking to someone about how good the show taped. He was asking about the acoustics and how well they recorded. I got the impression that he maybe used his cell phone to tape the show; I think it can be done, but I don't know about any of it. :( Can anyone shed light on it? I heard that the Buffalo show was taped using a cell phone. golden braid- Getting to meet them was part of the contest that I won from the radio station. :) I was too nervous and excited to take pics with them though. :( |
One of the BEST reviews!!
Quote:
AWESOME that you had close contact with Lindsey and yelled that about adding Red Rover...and the WINK...I would have KILLED OVER!!! TERRIFIC review! Can't wait to see the pics!! :D |
this is officially the best concert i've ever been to. the mac seems even more into it on this second leg. (not that the first leg was bad!). i was extremely pleased with the quality of their singing & playing. and the crowd (a full house of course) was great too. god DAMN it, it rocked.
i went with a friend who had never seen the mac before, and who only knows a few hits by them. he said the concert made him want to go and buy every fleetwood mac album. some girl below me in the audience was evidently in a trance and she was making the craziest gestures, all in slow motion. suspect the marijuana i smelled was hers. |

Where were your seats, misterbug? It was the best show I've ever seen in my life and the Mac will have a hard time topping their performances from last night; it was spectacular! |
FANTASTIC review! Makes me even more excited for my 2nd leg shows....10 more days until SA!!!
:wavey: |
I'm sure...

I can't remember the last LARGE scale tour of the US by any group/artist that did not produce an OFFICIAL live recording...Trust me, They are INDEED recording shows for a "possible" future release. Brian j. |

And I did melt! I had tears in my eyes. Nothing could have prepared me for Stevie's aura. She just emits warmth and love. :D Just wait a while and you'll see everything on PBS; you'll be crying because it was so remarkable. |

Nice Dissention! Im so happy for you!!! :)

Wow - reading that was just fantastic. I am so happy that somebody had an experience that was so wonderful. Can you be thrilled for somebody you don't know? I think so! LOL
I hope there's an official release from the tour and I hope its the *whole* show and not something edited down to fit on a single CD. And I know the Boston show will air on PBS, but I am almost certain they'll cut it to death. If so, I hope the entire uncut show makes the rounds. After reading that review, I am dying to see it for myself. |

i'm so glad that the show we went to will be broadcast on PBS. that is definitely awesome. |

Don't feel bad, others were worse off. I talked to a woman who bought tickets off of advancedtickets.com or something for $350 each back in July. They told her they were VIP seats and that she'd find out exactly where they were the day of the concert. She gets the tickets the day of the concert and finds out they're 15 rows away from the stage! I felt so bad for her. :( She offered me money to swap tix, but I couldn't do that. Not when Stevie is literally two feet in front of my face or when Lindsey is close enough to joke around with me. Just be glad you weren't in the nosebleeds! |
Quote:
But, I know first-hand what you mean! The woman is absolutely electric! Even off-stage! |
Well, that would certainly explain her deep voice...
 |

I have seen the light. |

Dissention, thanks for the kickass review! Glad you had such a good time. It sounds like it was quite a show... I can't wait to see the tape of it. Your post got me pumped up to see them again October!

Great Review!
Thanks for the great review, dissention!
And congrats on meeting the band! I honestly don't know how I would have handled that!! It sounds like you kept it together. Your description of "Landslide" actually brought tears to MY eyes. I love those two, dammit! It's so great that they are friends again! :xoxo: Almost two weeks before I take my longest plane trip...to Denver, CO! :blob2: (And here's hoping I can score good seats!) After having the good fortune of being in the second row center at Pittsburgh, you can never go back. Your review has really inspired me! I can't wait! |
You're all very welcome! This is a great time for us fans  I wish everyone who is attending a Mac concert this year the best of times; this tour is remarkable! :D
|
WOW
This is great, dissention!!!!! What a night that must've been. I can't wait for the show to be aired. I'll have to call my USA friend so she can tape it for me.
Your review makes me even more excited to see them in Germany and London (8th row!!!!!). They way you wrote your review... I could actually picture it in my head. And congrats on meeting the band. Isn't Stevie the warmest person?! "From one wild heart to another....", how sweet is that?! Thanks for sharing this great experience. Deb :wavey: |
OMG! What an amazing review! I can't wait to see this on video...I would love the uncut version of course as we all know we wont get to see the behind the scenes things we all love.
