What personal information about a FM member do you wish you never knew?

I was just responding to the post about "goodbye baby" and i was commenting on how i wish i never knew about Stevie's supposed abortions. I mean, let's face it, we all want dirt but is there a limit to what you can handle? In this day and age there is so much information out there and i think it kind of changes our image of those that the information is about.

Anyway, like i said, i wish i never knew about the "abortions". I can't think of any others right now but i figured i'd throw it out there and see what you guys think.......

I wish I was never privy to that fateful night at Christine's house in '87. It's forever tainted my view of Lindsey as a person. :(

Consider the source, though...it was Mick trying to sell a book during a very financially troubled time for him. Chances of making it a bigger thing and adding "creative license" was very big.

Well, remember that we don't know all the details and that Mick's presentation of it might be "embellished." Of course, I'm sure something ugly went down, but was it as bad as it seemed in Mick's book? We can't know that for sure.

I do wish I didn't know about the Rhiannon kicking, but Lindsey was in a bad way back then (not that I'm excusing his behavior) so that I don't let it affect how I see him nowadays.

And I also wish I didn't know about Stevie's abortion. No - I take those statements back, lol. I would never want to wish for ignorance. Better to know all the facts and make your judgements, good or bad, based on that.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't believe or put any faith into what Mick said in his book; it was about as truthful as a grocery store smut-rag. All copies of that book should be burned, IMO. LOL I just think that *something* went down that night between Stevie and Lindsey and some physical violence erupted, Stevie has confirmed it. I'm sure Mick embellished a LOT, but it got violent. We just don't know how violent! :)

I can't judge ANY of these folks. Sure, they did some stupid stuff earlier in life...who didn't? :rolleyes:

In response to the sitch at Christine's house...I wasn't there, we've heard from all of them about what happened, but only THEY know what REALLY happened. Lindsey MAY have slapped Miss Stevie or pushed her against the car or whatever, she MAY have been high, the others MAY or MAY NOT have helped her or tried to intervene..who knows!? :shrug: PERCEPTION.

Anyways...I'm kinda lucky to know as much as I do about these people!! I wouldn't want the whole world to know MY business and MY private life, but that's the price of fame. They have to live with that.

I believe Stevie has said she attacked him. Either way, violence is not cool.

Best to not let that particular episode color your perception of anyone because we'll never know the actual facts. The Rhiannon kick is another matter. But people grow.

The only thing I regret was reading Mick's book. I have a feeling most of it was fluff. I'm sure some of it really happened, but not to the extent that he described. Hey, it's Fleetwood Mac, and that's part of the appeal. The mess they went through and the way they treated one another...and it reflects in their music. It's great to see them come full circle, more matured, and love each other again. I think the whole ride is fantastic.

Mick and Stevie together... I still scratch my head sometimes...

Mich and Stevie's relationship, and Stevie's abortion came as a surprise to me. :distress:

Actually, I could care less about the dirt but if they voluntarily want to say some truthful dirt, I won't stop them from saying it. :)

When I was a teenager I refused to believe that Stevie did drugs.
I was at a Stevie solo concert in the mid 80's and Stevie almost fell off the stage. I still didn't believe she was on drugs. "Not my Stevie! LOL"~~~There are a few other rumors out there that I've heard, but I don't really want to bring them up. I think some things are better left alone.

John and Christine's troubles with alcohol. Especially Chris, I guess. But I agree, one should not let external facts be in the way of admiring someone for his/her work. I love Christine anyway. :)

I guess I didn't reeally need to know about that hole in Stevie's nose (yeah, it's a part of her history, I know, but it's still kinda gross anyways...ewww), and I sorta wish I hadn't known about her boob job. I don't think there's anything I wish I didn't know. Let's face it, Fleetwood Mac's unique history is what makes them an appealing band to alot of people. Would I be as big of a fan as I am if they didn't have so many trials and tribulations? Maybe not.

Everything that each member has said/done has impacted who they are as people and musicians, and therefore impacted the band as a whole.

In response to some of the things people have mentioned in this thread, the band members are not unlike any of us. They are not without fault, and they've all made mistakes, or done things they wish they could take back. The difference is, they've been able to maintain a relationship with each other that allows them to put all of that aside and do what they love, which is making music together. It takes alot of inner strength to do that, and I envy all of them for it. It can't always be easy to forgive and forget.

actually, i'm glad i know cause it kind of explained the change in her singing voice.

i never knew about her "troubles" with alcohol....is this fairly recent? i know on the Dance best buy cd she said she still enjoyed having a glass of wine....maybe she quit drinking and maybe this is one of the things that Lindsey refers to as "taking care of some personal matters"???

Someone else was talking about her implants....i'd again have to say that i'm sort of torn in the middle on this one....actually, i lean more towards not regret knowing it....before she said anything i always noticed that her cleavage had changed dramatically through the years. i know she only had the implants done once. and i believe she said this was in 1976...it makes sense cause she was very small prior to this and then she was noticeably bigger but they weren't too big....however, in the mid 80's (around RAL) they got even more noticeably bigger....i know she had start putting weight on then and obviously that's what made them bigger too...but, Lord, she had some MAJOR cleavage in the early 90's....i had thought at that point that she had the implants to sort of balance out the rest of her body. Glad she had them out though.

These are human beings who make mistakes.

I would shudder to think that even in my 25 years, if anyone would write a tell-all about me. No one is perfect, by far.

We all have our little addictions, one night stands, relationships and blow ups that we wouldn't want to share.

The entire Mick and Stevie thing-wrong but it happened. They are the ones to live with it.

Lindsey's last stance 1987-man, I am surprised he kept his cool as much as he did. Imagine ALL that anger he bottled inside since who knows when. Mick tells him that he slept with Stevie. Stevie slowly is killing herself with drugs and he has to watch her. His band is falling apart and he does what he can but never gets an ounce of credit. His own failing relationships and the pain of his father that he never could deal with. Being sick and touring. Never being able to make it solo. I mean all these things. He had money, good looks and fame, but thats never enough. That last day I can imagine how patronizing everyone was to him and I bet the day could have been worse. None of us were there though and I think everyone is at fault on that one.

I just wish that people realized that half of what we "know" are rumours and the other half is probably made bigger than what it really was.

But I wish people didn't know things about me either, I think it can be said for any of us.

Ok, off my soap box now. I know this was totally useless but I just wanted to put in my 2cents.

I will say, I love dirt too and I eat it up just like everyone. But we must keep it in perspective. These are real people ( I tend to forget that at times)

During the Tusk tour Lindsey would kick Stevie and mock her while onstage.... that's what I know of, not sure if it was on other tours too tho the chill is still apparent during Mirage.

That was not a regular occurance in their shows!! It happened one night when apparently emotions and tempers were running high. (no pun intended).

Even then, the only written account of this is in Mick's book and we know that doesn't hold any weight. :)

she did not have any implants put in at that time .What actually occured is that sometime after the "Shake the Cage" tour and before the release of TOSOTM Stevie had liposuction on her hips when she gained weight again the weight went to other areas.

This is very true! They put their pants on one leg at a time...and use the toilet just like the rest of us :laugh:

Reminds me of when my brother and I were reading the 'liner notes' in the Enchanted CD Box Set and Stevie wrote "...as usual I am sitting here in the beautfiul bathroom...my sanctuary...through the Good and Bad times, and many of my favorite songs have been written right here in this very room, the famous ones...the ones you hear on the radio..."

I starting laughing hysterically, 'cause all I could picture was Stevie 'on the hopper' writing..."I Can't Wait...":laugh:

Seriously folks...they ARE human...we may or may not agree with the choices they've made...but we can't really fault them too much...There is ALWAYS a second side to a story. I'm just grateful they've survived through all they had to go through and they all seem very happy and centered now...and that's the important thing.

That which does not kill us...makes us stronger.

THE KICKING INCIDENT
 

The only thing I remembered from Mick's account of this is that after Chris had apparently thrown the drink in LB's face backstage after the show, she then (according to Mick) said "Do ever do that to THIS BAND again". Sorry Mick, even though Chris is/was in your good books, that doesn't mean she shared this supossed life long mission (Mick has) to "keep FM going at all costs" (which I think is Mick BS anyways). Pass the barf bags. (JMHO though) :)

I have a pretty strong feeling that they got their information from Mick's book. I thought the same thing! I'll never listen to her music the same way again! How about "Stand Back"?!

Wasn't that Rolling Stone article a bunch of excerpts from Mick's book? Again, possibly a fallacy that is repeated and passed down in print and hearsay to the point where....no one knows for sure what is truth and what it rumour.

Well.... I hate to say it, but... I kinda doubt that. I hate to believe Lindsey would kick Stevie on purpose, but if he was drunk/high and she was doing one of her Rhiannon collapses on the floor, maybe he was kicking her just to see if she were still alive!

Just teasing, you all know I love Stevie's Rhiannon collapses! ;)

P.S Apparently RS asked everyone about this. It was confirmed by all except LB, who said something to the effect of "I don't remember it quite like that."

I don't think it's so much of an alcoholic problem...but Chris did enjoy dippin in the sauce. If you listen to some of the Mirage concerts, I'm fairly certain that she was drunk for all of 1982.

How about the Tusk tour???? One of the security guards told us that she was so drunk they had to drag her out of the car.

As for Lindsey kicking Stevie. I distinctly remember a conversation I had with Michael Brocaw, his manager during the 80's and early 90's. He said to me about the incident at Christine's house that Lindsey pushed her against the garage door because she attacked him but he never hit her. However, he did kick her in the ankles onstage when she was in his way during a guitar solo and he'd say something like:"This is my song, get the f*ck out of my way". But, said Michael, it never was serious, he never really hurt her. It was just his way of saying:"It's my time to be in the spotlights now so get out". Fortunately that's all history now and they're hugging and kissing.

But as far as the incident at Christine's house goes ~ I have it on video that Stevie tells the story and I believe her. I didn't believe Mick's book because both Michael and Lindsey said that he wrote it by heart and he was high all the time. Lindsey denied the whole thing so I believed him. Untill Stevie told the story herself in a BBC interview. She was really serious about it and very sincere.
