Fave SYW LB song?

I'm sure this has been asked millions of times, but hey, let's make it a million and one. :laugh:

Everyone should know mine by now...but if not...it's Red Rover!!

This song speaks to my heart and soul like ISA. I think about the death of my grandfather when I hear it. :( This one makes me tear up. The guitars are amazing and there are certain notes in it that KILL me. I NEVER get sick of hearing it and it's one of those songs that I stop what I'm doing and just LISTEN to it....intently.

"Red Rover" is a masterpiece of the weirdness, and I love it. The only thing that I love more than "Red Rover" in that album is the beautiful, haunting and majestic "Say Goodbye". I think those two are the best songs that Lindsey ever did with Fleetwood Mac. :nod:

Song of the moment - Morning Rain

P.S. And both of them are already eliminated in the "Survivor" game in the Rumours Forum... :laugh: ;)

Red Rover

Cammie 08-25-2003 12:32 AM

Fave....

:cool: Definitely...~SAY GOODBYE~...
Then the remarkable RED ROVER!:eek:
Lindsey is a MUSICAL Genius !!! :blob2:

David R 08-25-2003 03:08 AM

RED ROVER!!!! My favorite song on SYW...

also Say Goodbye...

Both are Buckingham at his finest... :)

DownOnRodeo 08-25-2003 08:01 AM

Murrow Turning Over In His Grave

And that's a big call considering we have the incomparable Red Rover and the immaculate Say Goodbye on the same CD.

But what can I say ... Murrow just does it for me :)

It starts off with that signature LB acoustic line, that seems to have more beats to it than necessary, he starts whisper-singing on what seems like the wrong beat, and from there the whole song is just chaos until the outro hits, and its like Lindsey is burning our brains with fierce flames of clarity.

And Mick's drums ... his best ever. The outro, is like a conversation between Lindsey's flame-guitar and Mick's thunder-drums!

dissention 08-25-2003 09:26 AM

Say Goodbye! That song is greatness; it's astounding. I love everything about it: the whispery vocal, the frenetic guitar, the harmonies. Such a masterpiece.

Runner-up is Murrow. I love that song. :D

strandinthewind 08-25-2003 10:37 AM

I like them all, but I have to say at this moment the guitar solo at the end of Bleed to Love Her is perfection. Then again, so is the huge guitar sound at the end of Murrow. So, for now those two. As always, this changes daily or sooner!! :laugh:

4Buck 08-25-2003 12:08 PM

My favorites change daily, as I love them all......... but the two I hum constantly are BLEED TO LOVE HER and STEAL YOUR HEART AWAY. They are two of the prettiest love songs Buckingham's ever written, IMO; Lyrically, melodically, instrumentally.

michelej1 08-25-2003 12:44 PM

"Miranda" is my favorite. Although, "Bleed to Love Her" might have been, had it not been on The Dance. I've developed somewhat of an immunity to it. Michele

rhiannon1119 08-25-2003 01:24 PM

I actually like almost all of Lindsey's songs on SYW. However, my favorites are Say Goodbye, Red Rover and Miranda.

:) Michelle

I absolutely love "Say Goodbye". First time I heard it, I was hooked. Can't understand why more people don't like it. It has already been voted off on the "survivor" game on the other board. :(

sodascouts 08-25-2003 04:06 PM

Tie between Steal Your Heart Away and Red Rover. Each is terrific in its own way. :)

gypsysara 08-25-2003 05:17 PM

While I really am fond of 95% of Lindsey's songs on SYW the ones that REALLY stand out are:

Miranda
Red Rover
Steal Your Heart Away
What's The World Coming To?

The one surprise for me is I wasnt fond of Come on the album, however seeing it live was nothing short of intense! WOW! Made me re-evaluate that one!

Sugar 08-25-2003 09:12 PM

Red Rover.

The guitar. The lyrics. The delivery. It took me a while to warm up to it, but once I did nothing compares.

Broke my heart to see it go so early on the SYW Survivor on the Rumours board...:(

golddust 09-02-2003 08:50 PM

~~~No contest for me it's Say Goodbye even though I love most of Lindsey's songs on this album.~~~
I liked the song on the CD BUT the live version WOW!! I am CRAZY about this song!!!
ERigby818 09-06-2003 01:14 PM
Definitely Murrow (I can't call it "Murrow Turning Over In His Grave." It's just "Murrow" to me)!!
Red Rover is a close runner-up though!
Best
I loved Bleed to Love Her on the Dance. And I love the studuio version too!
"Say Goodbye" Is what we have been waiting for. A end to the past for them and a new friendship.
Steal your heart away is another. Has been put together rather nicely. Love the gutiar on this one and Bleed to love her.....
:) :) :) :)
Red Rover. Whatever I'm doing, it just makes me stop for a few minutes while it washes over me. Fantastically emotional.
RED ROVER
It's psychedelically weird, in a good way! :nod:
Murrow!
It's funny, but when I think of this album, I don't think of Bleed & SYHA as being on it, since they were both released last time. Lindsey just owes us two more songs :D
love Red Rover and all of it's weirdness and emotion, and Say Goodbye is my second favorite.
I'm willing to bet that a Lindsey or Christine song has never won one of those Survivor games on any message board. It's rigged I tell ya :)
Johnny Stew 09-07-2003 11:23 PM
Without a doubt... "Murrow."
That song just kicks my booty every time I hear it.
And with headphones on.... *CHILLS*
:D
shackin'up 09-08-2003 02:27 AM
Come.
come come
golddustwoman77 09-16-2003 08:16 PM
Well, I love them all, but my picks would be Miranda, Come, and Steal Your Heart Away.
What's the World Coming to & Steal Your Heart Away
Re: Fave SYW LB song?
I've always been more fond of Lindsey's edgier stuff than the mainstreamish songs. The likes of "Steal Your Heart Away" might be good, but certainly won't have me jumping around in awe.
However, SYW favourites then:
"Murrow", and not just because there's a similarity to "I'm So Afraid". The whole thing is like an old blues song gone through a metamorphosis. Those "Black Betty"-cliches are multiplied to the nth degree when those weird harmonies and the distorted guitar appear. The guitar solo in particular reeks of such violence that it's easy to imagine Lindsey tearing the media powers into shreds with it. This is how a bluesman would make a song these days, no whining about "my gal is gone", rather direct criticism to the way the world is today.
"Red Rover". The whole thing is incredibly hyperactive and makes me feel like the spring has arrived and made everything alive again. I'm sure it would sound great in a banjo arrangement too.
But then again, "Come" and "Say Goodbye" are quite close to these two. And so would be "Down On Rodeo", "Twist Of Fate", "Gift Of Screws" and "Deep Dense", had he decided to use these on the album. :confused:
seteca 09-22-2003 02:57 PM
Every LB song on SYW is absolutely awesome. Red Rover and Say Goodbye are outstanding, as is the live version of "Come" which is now my joint favourite song of all time (tied with the live version of "Go Insane").
