The most amazing night in El Paso....

Well I just got back from the El Paso show, and I gotta say I feel like I floated all the way home....

I was lucky enough to be in the front row...my sister was in the 11th and Jake was in the 12th..and both said there were some sound issues....but it sounded perfect to me....

Okay..this is just a sort of my experience thing..Jake said he'd get more into the music details :)

So...I was right in front of Stevie, which was great...but when the concert started only me and one other person stood...and we were the only ones by the stage, Stevie winked at the girl and then just smiled at me....then security asked us to sit down....

Now..unfortunately NO ONE in the front row was standing..at least not on Stevie's side...so I was there standing alone...dancing my feet off...then I felt bad so I sat a little...but kept popping up....AND....there were NO blondes in the front row...SO...I made myself as visible as possible..and since I seemed to be only one of a few people with a pulse in the front row I got a LOT of eye contact with Lindsey..including one point when he looked right at me...and I Just started laughing I was SO happy..then he chuckled and looked away....

Another person I actually interacted with a lot was Brett Tuggle lol....I made a face at him...then he made it back...and thus started our concert fun...I was excited...

Geez this is probably so sorted but so much happened tonight....OK...Lindsey got down on his side of the stage to let people touch his guitar etc...so I ran over there...grabbed a hold of his leg and played his guitar...then returned to my seat on Stevie's side...well then he came over there bent down again and I did the exact same thing...only this time I looked up into his face and smiled...THEN he stood up and stayed there for the rest of the solo...smack dap in front of me!!!! IT was SOOOO incredible...

Okay...as per other posts on here I decided to make a little "John Rulz" sign....here's the adventure of that:

I held it up toward the end and John saw it...he winked and nodded at me and made some sort of odd gesture...that was that...THEN a little later he looked at me and made a little frame with his hands...and I held it up again and he motioned for me to like put it on the stage...but I didn't...SO....then World Turning starts...and after that Mick introduced everyone...when he got to John I held up my little sign and Mick pointed and me and said, "OH look...they love you John!" lol....so that was that...I ended up smack dap in front of Stevie for Goodbye Baby...and the concert was over...

BUT....as they are bowing I meant to stand my little sign on the stage, but it fell between the big speaker and the stage...gone...so the house lights come up but I loitered around for a bit...and some crew guy comes out and is like..." HEY WHERE"S THE GIRL WITH THE SIGN!?!" hahaha...so I'm like..."RIGHT HERE!" and he says, "WHERE"S THE SIGN?" So I tell him that I dropped it, showed him where and he says, "Ok...these are from John..." and he handed me two picks!!!! And I said, "Are these John's?!?" and he was like, "Yeah...we're gonna fish the sign out...." LOL....SOOO

So then my sister, Jake and I are walking to my car and we come across the area where all the limos are waiting so we loitered around there for a bit...and here comes John...so I yell..."HEy!! Thanks for the Picks...I had the sign...!!!" Then he waved...and as his car passed by he rolled down his window and waved and said "Thanks" or something....Stevie was rolling up the window to her limo as she passed us so we didn't see her...and Lindsey just sort of slipped into his limo and never even rolled his window down.....

OK....so....as far as the concert goes...it was amazing..Stevie was just totally energized and she just kicked some ASS...and she made a cute speech about living in El Paso at which Lindsey looked at her funny and mouthed, "I didn't know that" and Stevie mouthed back, "Yes you did" haha..it was cute....

Okay...I feel like I'm leaving a bunch out...but this is long enough and late and I'm dead tired....and my throat hurts from all the screaming...hahaha..but damn....this was one amazing show....

WOW Deanna

Sounds like you had quite the experience. You even had interaction with John. He does seem nice.
Did you get to take any photos?
Sorry, to hear that the crowd in the front row were a bunch of poops.:( But I guess that worked out to your benefit.

Gypsy-Rhiannon 08-06-2003 06:54 AM

Okay, I am dying my hair blonde and making a sign for the Atlanta concert!!!!

I am so glad you had that cool experience!!!!!!!!! There really is nothing like the intensity of being on the front row AND interacting!!!!!

tamaraluvsFM 08-06-2003 07:35 AM

Great review! I love all the John moment. That was so sweet he gave you his picks.

The SN and LB talk was adorable--I can hear her saying, "Yeah, Lindsey...you DID SO!" LOL

Congrats on the picks and the sign. John's going to wonder who his cult following is! :D

NowSounds 08-06-2003 08:38 AM

Sounds like a great time. Congrats on getting the picks--I'm jealous. :D

Think I'll take a "John Rulz" sign with me to Cincy, though he probably won't see it--we're about 20 rows back. :(

(This is actually my first post after lurking for a while--howdy Ledgies!)

Yeah...I'm still high as a kite from last night!!

As for the pictures, my mom ended up in the hospital the day before the concert and I've been there every other moment, however she insisted I still go to the concert...but just had no chance to get a camera or film :( Oh well...I will still never forget it....the little dance and chase around thing they do was hilarious...they did it much longer than in Phoenix and Lindsey actually put his quitar down and was just going nuts...all right in front of me lol....it was just amazing!

Great review Deanna! I am so glad that you got some Lindsey interaction and that John acknowledged your sign.. so happy that you got his picks. I thought that little banter about El Paso between Stevie and Lindsey was adorable.

I hope your mom is okay.

:) Michelle

Glad you had a great time!! I hope John doesn't think we're all the same people with the same sign!! We want to let him know he has more than two or three fans lol. Hopefully, if I get to go to another concert I can come up with a new John "slogan." Thanks for the review!! Ali

darklinensuit 08-06-2003 05:59 PM

I'm home now. Thanks again for the rides, Deanna.
I just found out that my boss suddenly quit for health reasons & I am a bit frazzled.
I'll have a long concert post up as soon as I can.

Deanna, AWESOME REVIEW!!! Glad you had an amazing time IN THE FRONT ROW!!! *gasp* John is seriously the most hysterical guy. I'd have to say, out of the entire band, his quotes are the most amusing and when he does speak, he's the funniest guy. Glad you were able to get some John picks!! Hope your mom is well. Keep us posted!!!

Ali P~~I have a few ideas for your next sign!!!:D

Jake~~Can't wait to hear your review!!! Hope all is well w/you

So I gotta say........ all of the people who have front row seats and don't do any dancing, standing whatever...need to move to the back so that those of us who are DESPERATELY trying to get front row seats and want to truly enjoy the concert can have them!!!!

I COMPLETELY AGREE....I mean why the hell be in the front row if you're just going to sit there like a corpse!?! And two people around me had their kids there with them....like little kids...not that little kids can't enjoy a good concert...but well...they didn't seem to be enjoying the concert...those seats could have been occupied by some hard-core fan ya know? AND...I tried some other Ledgies trick (for Jake) of asking if they'd be will to trade his twelth row seat for theirs plus one hundred bucks...and no one would but then no one even seemed to care about the show, some people up there might as well have been waiting for the dentist...and man..they thought I was like the biggest freak lol....and I just didn't care....

Also..thanks everyone for the comments on my mom...still no change and they've no clue what's wrong with her...but she's going to have two tests done tomorrow that will hopefully shed some light on her ailment....

gldstwmn 08-08-2003 12:43 AM

Ooh. How many people can say that the elusive Mr. McVie gave them a pick? You are one lucky girl. Good for you!:)

sodascouts 08-08-2003 11:40 AM

Wow, Deanna, John loves YOU! lol How awesome! I know now everyone and their dog is going to bring a John sign to get his attention, lol. He has no idea what he's started with a couple picks! :)

How LAME that the front row just sat there and that security told you to sit down! What's up with THAT?! Thank goodness the crowds weren't like that in Indy or Phoenix. Jumping around with frenized fans is half the fun.

Sorry about your mom - hope things go well for her regarding the tests.
