I think it would be a cool idea if we all dug out some interesting Stevie Photo's we may have and share them with each other. There are SOOOOO many out there, I bet we could come up with some that very few have seen before. I will start. Please everyone keep adding to this thread and let's see what comes up!

That's Bob Welch, who used to be in Fleetwood Mac. That picture was taken at Cal Jam 2 at the old Ontario Motor Speedway in March 1978. It was a huge rock festival. Bob Welch & his band opened, & Stevie & Mick joined him onstage for a couple of songs. It was even shown on TV back then. It's prime Stevie Nicks stuff: that was her apex.

What a day, what a day!! (March 18, 1978, to be more specific  )

Some solo acoustic guy (whose name I've obviously forgotten) actually started the day at 9am. Bob Welch followed him, then Heart, then Santana, then Dave Mason, then Ted Nugent, then Foreigner, then Aerosmith, and finally Rubiycon. Whew!!

And, fast forward a quarter of a century...

Thank you! And yeah, I'll agree, it was her apex...too bad there's not a lot of recordings of her voice back then...when it was so young-sounding...

:)

WednesdaysChild 07-29-2003 09:11 AM

Sorry! I don't pay attention to the pre-Rumours line up!!! LOL Hope you are breathing okay, ChiliD ;)

And when I said that her voice was at her apex, I meant that it was at her best...the Rumours tour was the beginning of the downhill slide. But now rereading my posts, I think I read the dates wrong and thought that pic was taken after the White Album. My apologies for messing up! LOL :)

{sigh} It is a backstage shot from FMac's Nashville show this tour...and, yes, that is once again BOB WELCH!

{whispers} Hence the "fast forward a quarter of a century" comment above the photo. ;)

WednesdaysChild 07-30-2003 11:48 AM

I guessed that it was Bob Welch again. Chili, the 1/4 century comment gave it away.

This from someone not knowing him in the first pic

WednesdaysChild 07-30-2003 03:10 PM

LOL why the black hair?

And why was she carring the doll like a baby? Obviously that's what people thought it was...

LOL! That is so cute. was she like on the Muppet show or something or was that just a doll? either way it's great! Miss Piggy is my favorite Muppet.

Stevie never appeared on 'The Muppet Show.'

A 23 page script, titled 'Stevie Nicks And The Muppets,' was written by Catherine Rice (with a "music by Stevie Nicks" notation), and copyrighted on June 17th, 1981.

On the same date, Ms. Rice also copyrighted a synopsis for a ballet based on the "Rhiannon" myth, also with a "music by Stevie Nicks" notation.

It's hard to say whether either of these projects had any "official" legitimacy, or if Ms. Rice was simply a fan writing Stevie-inspired material. The best I can tell, these are the only two copyrighted projects that this particular Catherine ("Cathie") Rice has been involved with, and 'The Muppet Show' TV series had actually ceased production by June of 1981... so the fan scenario is probably most likely.

Really? This tour?? Maybe it is just a girl thing for me to pick up on this..but in that pic her bangs are wicked short...and her bangs have been pretty grown out since before the tour started....so i am thinking maybe TISL or something...also..duh to me for not knowing it was BW ..i didn't pick up on the quarter century thing :)

Johnny Stew 07-30-2003 10:47 PM

Yes, to me, her bangs look like they did at the start of the 'Enchanted' tour, so that's where I figured it must be from... but maybe it's just the angle.

WednesdaysChild 07-31-2003 03:20 PM

I can see the need for the wig to fool people...but the doll thing is weird. No wonder people thought she had a baby of her own!

AW.....Poor Stevie.. :distress:

WednesdaysChild 07-31-2003 03:35 PM

Yeah, I guess the Klonopin really made her do some strange things. I didn't realize she was actually CRYING on TV though. Poor Stevie. :distress:

WednesdaysChild 07-31-2003 05:40 PM

I love how they looked during that time period! Stevie looks wicked young and not so "made up" for the stage (no chiffon, no makeup, etc). Chris looks a little older than she really is...never could figure that out.

:wavey: Thanks Johnny Stew for the info! I didn't know all that about Catherine Rice, I was just curious about the origination of the photo and why she might be posing with Miss Piggy. :)

The Catdancer 07-31-2003 08:59 PM

Here's one of Stevie in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 1989.

Yeah I think Stevie was very, very sad for a long while. But I think the birth of Jessica did help her a lot.
anyway here's the small piece in the newspaper about it:

"The Sun January 29 1990
STEVIE SOBS ON TV
‘I will never have a baby’

Rock queen Stevie Nicks broke down and wept during a television interview with Annie Nightingale.
Annie and her crew were so moved that they also started crying. The broken-hearted Fleetwood Mac star sobbed: “I will never have a baby and I will never marry because no man can put up with me.”
Radio One DJ Annie, who was interviewing Stevie for her new One To One show on ITV, told me: “The interview was going fine, until I asked her about not having children, then she broke down
“Her story was so sad that soon I was crying along with the entire film crew. Stevie really cracked up and was in floods of tears.
“It sounds corny but it was a very moving interview. I could do nothing but cry with her.”
Reformed alcoholic and junkie Nicks, 41, has had relationships with rock stars Lindsey Buckingham, Joe Walsh and Don Henley – but they all ended painfully.
The tearful interview will be shown on February 25."

:distress:

Must have missed this post! Wow, that is amazing. But they were a little harsh with the junkie part... Wow, what an emotional thing.

Do y'all really think Jessica helped her? I mean, how involved do you think Aunt Stevie was? I always wonder...but I love that pic of baby Jessica and Lori with Stevie.

Well I certainly dont have them sorted. It would be easier to jam a Stevie boot up an elephants nose? LOL Ive spent a lot of money on ink, photo paper, and a damn nice photo quality printer. Quite a few were given to me by a fan in the news media many years ago. Many are from old abandon sites, links from those sites, and searching the internet like crazy when I was a drunk jobless loser living off my parents. You would be suprised where Stevie portraits, and candid photos pop up. A few are the size of a book of matches. Others are I'll say 4X6, and larger. Some are huge. LOL Collecting Stevie photos became an obsession, but its been fun. I have them mounted in acid free sleeves, and keep them in 4 seperate bursting at the seams books. Im working on a book #5 which includes what I consider Stevie's best stage photos, and quality artwork by the fans. Oh, I found an interesting site the other day. It came up while searching (stevie nicks and comics) Fillies.com? This guy sells a CD with 1,400 some photos for $12. From looking at some of the tiny .jpg's it looks like he has a few I havnt seen? A lot of fuzzy video shots on the CD though. Dont hold your breath on me posting any in the next few weeks. Sorry! Im just very busy with work, and wanted to reply so your not waiting.......Mark
