News about upcoming FM re-releases?

Hello all---

I'm not sure if this has been posted on The Ledge or not, but I just read the following information at Musictap.net, and The Ledge actually gets a mention:

"For Fleetwood Mac fans, there is a scheduled DVD called Tango In the Night for October 14. That oughta tide Ledge fans over until the expected release of their anticipated Rhino titles. An Expanded and Remastered Fleetwood Mac; a 2CD Deluxe Edition of Rumours; and a 2CD Deluxe Edition of Tusk is expected October 28. As a 'whisper', Lindsay Buckingham has something in the works."

Anyone have any idea what the comment about LB means?

Well, the first thing that comes to my mind would be the Say You Will documentary footage.

CarneVaca 07-16-2003 01:13 PM

Whatever it might be, I'll be glad to have it in my anticipating hands in about five years...

chiliD 07-16-2003 01:18 PM

Will Lindsey's name EVER be spelled correctly?

Johnny Stew 07-16-2003 02:19 PM

Isn't that cool!?! :D

I just exchanged a couple emails the other day with Matt Rowe, who runs MusicTAP.
I let him know that I greatly enjoy his site, I inquired to see if there was any new information regarding the upcoming remasters, and told him that those of us on The Ledge (which I explained to him is one of the largest Fleetwood Mac message boards on the internet) are greatly anticipating these releases.

He was very friendly and courteous in his responses, and promised to send along the track-listing info, etc., as soon as it's made available to him.

How cool that he mentioned us in his piece!!! :D

Johnny Stew 07-16-2003 02:51 PM

And I forgot to add that we also had this mention on the 15th...

Here's a special hello to The Ledge, a Fleetwood Mac message board who is very anxious for those upcoming Rhino Expanded and Remastered series reissues.

That sounds great! Thanks for the update. I'm looking forward to the 3 re-issues as well as the Tango In The Night DVD. I'm also looking forward to seeing the track listing on Fleetwood Mac, Rumours & Tusk when they become available. Thanks again!

Naturally I'm dying for all this stuff too but I must admit, I'm AMAZED that they are choosing to reissue the "Tango in the night" deal on DVD (since it's the Billy Rick lineup and not w/LB) but whatever, I won't complain I'll take it! (I ASSUME it's that San Fran Cow Palace stuff from '87 they're talking about huh?) Well, gotta go mark these dates on my calender now. :)

I know, that's not even a very good one, performance-wise. And those re-shot closeups of Stevie drive me nuts! Why not the Mirage concert on DVD???

Jason T. 07-16-2003 05:19 PM

So...

Livia, is that what it is...a re-issue? Oh, I am so stupid. I didn't know that they were just re-releasing the concert. But why would they do that now that the old group is back together?

I thought that maybe it was some sort of "making of the record TITN." It still puzzles me why they would choose to even release that again. I'm completely lost...

Livia 07-16-2003 05:22 PM

I dunno, Jason, I was just assuming it was, based on John's post. But a making of the TITN album would be really cool, I just can't believe that the powers-that-be thought there was enough interest to re-release the concert again (?).

wetcamelfood 07-16-2003 05:29 PM

Yeah, I'm just guessing that's what it is too but who knows, maybe it will be something new. The only reason I can think of that they may be churning the old SF show out again is because it was on Warner/Reprise Home Video so they don't have to license anything since they own it, they can just put it out whenever they want, unlike the Mirage show, say for instance.

So confused...

This is probably going to keep me from sleeping at night now.:(

I truly dig the 'Tango' concert vid... close-ups, audio sweetening, and all... so I'm happy about it being released on DVD.

For those of us who long ago wore out our videocassette copies of the various concert videos, and have been hesitant to buy new copies in the hopes they'd eventually be released on DVD, this is good news!

And I'm sure John is right... Warner Home Video owns the rights to the 'Tango' video, so they don't have to go thru the headache of rights clearances, etc., in order to release it on DVD.

Hopefully though, the other concert videos will follow suit in the not-too-distant future.

Well, maybe they'll have remixed it, actually show the ENTIRE concert, other bonus material, etc, etc. I don't think they'd re-release it "as is" on DVD when they can take advantage of the new medium's capabilities. Maybe all this stuff is coming out in response to the Penguin petition. All our griping to Ken Caillat during his Q&A had to have SOME affect, dontcha think?

Like Bob Welch said, "Good things come to those who wait".

Lightyear released Stevie's Red Rocks video on DVD "as is," but I hope you're right, and that someone among the "powers that be" saw our petition and the various threads discussing possible DVD & CD re-releases.

They certainly have the potential to really make something special out of these, so here's to hoping they do. :D

macfan 57 07-17-2003 05:42 AM

While I would prefer the Mirage video on DVD, I'm happy with the Tango video. I don't have any problem with it except for the Stevie close ups that appear to have been filmed at a later date. Other than that, it's fine. If it includes additional footage from the Cow Palace show, even better.

Matt Lucas 07-17-2003 11:40 AM

I assumed that the DVD of Tango in the Night was actually a DVD-A release. Now that I read it again, it's not really clear whether it's one or the other, so you all are probably right.
