What's your cure for "concert withdrawal"?
I traveled from Florida to see the show in Atlantic City. Drove to Ft Lauderdale to see the show Saturday. Had a great time at both shows, but I'm definitely suffering from "withdrawals" now. It's not just me, my daughters are feeling the same way. It's hard to get back to the boring daily routines. We decided we should be "professional FM concert goers". Hard to make a living doing that though!
Anyway, just wondering what everyone was doing to beat the after concert blues. We have watched the DC tape I bought of the show, pulled out all my old videos and albums. I think tomorrow we will drag down my old scrapbook and go through my old concert ticket stubs and pictures. Anyone have a cure? We tried driving around in the car singing along with "Say You Will" at the top of our lungs, that usually cheers us up-but it didn't work either! |
Well it seems this happens to most of us after the concerts. For myself, I went to another show to beat the blues. I listen to the MAC in my car and in my house. And being here on the ledge reading everyone's great reviews also helps...its hard I know.
Gosh I wish we were all super rich so we can go to every show! Tamara :wavey: p.s. Imgypsy you have a PM! :D |
My withdrawal has been severe.
I decided I'm going to two more shows (hopefully) and flying solo, so I'm working overtime, listening to any and all Fleetwood Mac/ Stevie Nicks records, wearing my baseball tee-shirt and thinking about it while learning to play the guitar. It's my whole motivation. |
Listen to Mac or Stevie all the time (I listened to Livespace tonight) have a little candy and think about where to see them next.

What I do is remember there are people starving and homeless in the world. The story about Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You from the liner notes of Timespace also comes to mind. How Stevie said she was feeling bad about some things until Joe Walsh told her the story about how he lost his daughter.
Keeping these things in perspective helps. When you start feeling depressed about a concert being over, try using that energy to count your blessings instead. |
I will...
do my usual and listen to the best bootleg of a show from the tour (ie-Buffalo, NY 5/15/03-ALD/SBD) to get over the withdrawal...That is until the next show, LOL!!!!

To cure the post Nashville and Atlanta blues, I am holding out for a second leg, if not wind, on this tour!!!!

What I usually do after I have concert withdrawal is to attend another concert as soon as possible. I don't mean another Fleetwood Mac concert (which I would love to do)but any other show that you were not sure about attending. I guess if I just keep feeding my concert addiction then everything will be fine. There is that magical feeling that you get when everything goes dark, the crowd cheers and you hear the first notes of the band playing. That has to be the most exciting thing in the world. I am addicted to that and therefore I am a concert junkie. I think what made my concert withdrawal worse this time is that I saw Matchbox Twenty and Fleetwood Mac all in the same weekend. Now I am even more obsessed than ever. I sure hope they come back to Pittsburgh for another leg. If they dont though I will be going anywhere within a five hour radius. I need more mac!

I just listen to em from the Colombus show, puts me right back in the mood. Or I look @ pics of the concert I have.
|
I figure that I'll chant along with a 16th century monks recording that one of my old professors gave me, light white candles and say a bunch of "ommmms" so that the second leg of the tour includes a return trip to Philly/NJ!
(did I actually just type that?!?!?) |
kak125,
i feel the same way you do==and i`m a concert junkie too! I go to about 60 concerts a year,if not more. You are so right that its a magical feeling you get when the lights go dark and the crowd cheers and the band hits the stage--the adrenaline that courses thru me is like no other feeling in the world! i wish i could win the lottery and spend the rest of my life just traveling city to city and seeing a concert every night! i know i am dying to see the Mac again--2 shows werent enough to satisfy me--wanna go see them in Vegas but cannot find a broker who will sell me just one ticket! I go see other concerts of other groups I like. I see several concerts each month so Im usually busy in some way. Plus I tape all the shows I go to on my DAT recorder, so Im usually busy making CDs from the DAT after shows.
I know what you mean though, after I go on tour with a group there's always that re-adjustment where you want to go on tour forever, yet reality hits you and you realize it aint so, lol! |
I don't have a cure which is why i'm so dang antsy for them to come back here. I am still suffering from mega mac withdrawl and it's sooo incredibly lame. I'm to the point where I sing song lyrics everytime someone mentions something that may also occur in a Fleetwood Mac/Stevie/Lindsey song. My friend Meredith and I also make it a point to do the Lindsey Peacekeeper Chicken Squawk everytime we get on the phone. My friends are like, "sweetie..we need to get you help..." lol! Sorry to any people in any of the states mentioned in my other thread that I may have offended but i'm freakin' at the fact I probably won't get to see them again unless they were to magically appear back over here before i leave for school in late August, at which point I sell my soul and my first unborn child away. I really truly am happy you all will get to see them...I'm sad I won't get to see them again though unless a small miracle occurs :(

Ok my last thread somehow never made its way on this board. That sucks cuz now I have to type it all over again. Anyway, I will share a funny story with you all but you cant tell anybody else k?
sssh. So one night I was up late and surfing the internet. I saw Stevie on the TISL tour (opening night in Pittsburgh) and knew that I had to see her again. I went on ticketmaster and saw four 4th row center seats to the Virgina beach show. So I thought up a plan to use my friends credit card to buy the tickets and then sell the other 2 to make up the cost. I sold the other two tickets and then realized that I would be in North Carolina around the time of the show. Well the Virgina Beach Ampitheatre was only like 2 hours away from where we were going to be staying. I knew that my husband would be pissed if he found out that I bought more tickets so my friend and I told him that I had won a radio contest to the Virgina Beach show. She typed up a letter and included a free cd along with my tickets. He didn't want to go to the show but coulnd't argue since I had won free tickets. I guess he never figured out that it isn't likely that I would win tickets to a show in another state. Well we went on vacation and the day of the show I found out that Stevie cancelled the show because she was sick. I was so angry because I knew that I wouldn't be able to make it back to Virgina for the show. So I sold my 2 tickets and then bought new ones to the Columbus show on the 17th of September. It was after 9/11 and I new that they only way I could feel better somehow was to see Stevie perform. I told my husband that the radio station let me send them back my tickets and gave me new ones to Columbus. My friend and I went to the show (it was different because I was sad about the whole 9/11 thing so it wasn't like I was really excited to see the show but knew that I had to be there)and had a great time. (We had 5th row center) I left there feeling much better about things and needless to say got to see Stevie once again. So anyway, if you are as shady as me you can always find another way to go to the show. My friend and I have a good chuckle everytime we talk about what we pulled over on my husband. I still feel bad about it but just couldn't help myself. He doesn't understand my music obsession so sometimes it is easier to lie. |
I can understand what you are going through. It can hit you hard but I think surrounding myself with Mac music, Mac items, keeping in contact the Ledge boards and the internet and all my Mac friends helps a little. Another show would be nice, too. But it really depends on where it would be and my funds at the time.

Hope you have a pre-nuptual or a good attorney.;)

The Ledge brings THE BEST Mac fans together  So it definately does help  |
Marissa-I didn't realize it was abnormal to do the Peackeeper Chicken Squawk! I must really need help! My daughter and I do it all the time and have been since we first heard the song. I was wondering why some people were giving us such strange looks!!
And Kak125-you and I should trade stories some time. I thought I was the only one who dreamed up these elaborate schemes to get to FM or Stevie concerts! I'll tell you the story of how I managed to get to the Stevie AHI benefit in Phoenix in '98- from Florida- with my sister- from NY while convincing my husband and our whole family we were just going to do a good deed! Anyway, I shouldn't have brought that story up-since it relates to karma (bad)-after waiting for hours for Stevie to show up at the after show party-and then an hour and a half on line to meet her-she got up and left right before we got to the front of the line:( We were heartbroken! I figured we deserved it after the tale we had woven- |
