Seeds We Sow Album Lyrics

Seeds We Sow

Soldier's of Fortune
they do conceal
everything they're afraid to show
everything they once gave now they just steal
oh the seeds we sow

Soldiers of Fortune
in paradise
had to let ourselves let go
running through our veins was water cold as ice
oh the seeds we sow

Oh, ta ta ta
Oh, ta ta ta

Sweet things, pretty things are dying
in the penny arcade of Edgar Allan Poe
Medicine men have all gone off spying
Oh the seeds we sow

Had a dream that you reached for me in the night
Touched me soft and slow
Everything was wrong but everything was right
Oh the seeds we sow

Oh, ta ta ta
Oh, ta ta ta
Oh, ta ta ta
Oh, ta ta ta

Oh, oh the seeds we sow
Oh, oh the seeds we sow
Oh, oh the seeds we sow
Oh, the seeds we sow

In Our Own Time

Fire still burning but in a while she'll make it rain
These rooms are all falling down they couldn't stand the strain
I had the same old dream she was hiding outside my door
She used to come from time to time but not anymore

Still...in my mind...
Still...in my mind...

It wouldn't make any difference
We crossed the line
From the fire we will rise again
In our own time

Seasons turning but in a while she'll make it snow
This time I think she's gone for good but I never really know
Nothing here remains just the vision of her face
The implication of a crime it always takes her place

Still...in my mind....
Still...in my mind....

It wouldn't make any difference
We crossed the line
From the fire we will rise again
In our own time

It wouldn't make any difference
We crossed the line
From the fire we will rise again
In our own time
In our own time
In our own time

Process of Illumination

I've got a bad reputation
Do you have something to hide
Whoo, it's such a strange sensation
When you finally open up your eyes

One less lie believe in
One less trick of the mind
The process of illumination
The process of illumination

Meet me up at the station
Shake me down to the core
Whisper little revelations
That you never told no one before

One less lie to believe in
One less trick of the mind

The process of illumination
The process of illumination

One less lie to believe in
One less trick of the mind

The process of illumination
The process of illumination
The process of illumination
The process of illumination

The Way Love Goes

I'd like to take your pain away
away away away
I'd like to take your shame away
away away away

I lie alone and watch you sleep
I'd reach for you but I might weep
If you should tell me I must keep
away away away

In the dungeon couldn't believe it no
Took a look and then saw your secret
Oh oh oh
That's the way love goes
It goes it goes it goes

In the dungeon couldn't believe it no
Took a look and then saw your secret
Oh oh oh
That's the way love goes
It goes it goes it goes
Oh that's the way love goes
it goes it goes it goes

I'd like to take your pain away
away away away
Behind your shame the colors fade
away away away
The diamond falls, the hand is dealt
Upon the shrine where we once knelt
Oh how I wish this veil could melt
away away away

In the dungeon couldn't believe it no
Took a look and then saw your secret
Oh oh oh
That's the way love goes
It goes it goes it goes

In the dungeon couldn't believe it no
Took a look and then saw your secret
Oh oh oh
That's the way love goes
It goes it goes it goes

Repeat

It goes it goes it goes
it goes it goes it goes it goes
It goes it goes it goes it goes
It goes it goes it goes

I'd like to take the pain away
away away away
I'd like to take the shame away
away away away

Stars Are Crazy

I woke up in the middle of the night
With you on my mind
With you on my mind
I can't see you any more
But it don't mean I'm blind

Sometimes we fantasize
Wondering if we could've tried
Wondering if we died
Wondering if the stars are crazy
Stars are crazy

Sometimes we analyze
Almost apologize
Pretending we didn't die
Wondering if the stars are crazy
Stars are crazy

I wake up in the middle of the night
With you in my arms
With you in my arms
I can't touch you anymore
It causes you harm

Sometimes we fantasize
Wondering if we could've tried
Wondering if we die
Wondering if the stars are crazy
Stars are crazy

Sometimes we analyze
Almost apologize
Pretending we didn't die
Wondering if the stars are crazy
Stars are crazy

Sometimes we close our eyes
Dreaming about the prize
Wondering what to buy
Wondering if the stars are crazy
Stars are crazy

Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh

Ah-oh, oooohhhh
Oohhh, Oohhh
Ahhhhhhhhh

When She Comes Down
She is waiting
She is waiting
She is dreaming
She is dreaming

And we'll all go to meet her
Yes, we'll all go to meet her
When she comes down
When she comes down

She is watching
She is watching
She is hoping
She is hoping

And we'll all go to meet her
Yes, we'll all go to meet her
When she comes down
When she comes down

Now she's dancing
Now she's calling
Now she's laughing
Now she's falling

And we'll all go to meet her
Yes, we'll all go to meet her
When she comes down
When she comes down

Rock Away Blind

For your love, I must be on time
Wait for hours alone by your shrine
Your bark is worse than my bite
I rock away, rock away, rock away, rock away blind
Rock away, rock away, rock away, rock away blind

I see clues that you leave behind
White or blue, I know it can't be mine
I want to look for what I might find
I rock away, rock away, rock away, rock away blind
Rock away, rock away, rock away, rock away blind

Freedom is someone to know
There is no right or wrong anymore
Cast your fate we've all found away
As they say, it's another good day

I keep watch on this heart of mine
I could go crazy without even trying
Fleeing the scene of the crime
I rock away, rock away, rock away, rock away blind
Rock away, rock away, rock away, rock away blind

One Take
I'm a soldier in the bandlands
Never looking out behind
When the feeling rushes over me
I do it for the company
My soul is hard to find
And I do good business
With the wastelands below
Giving passports to places
that you never really thought that you would
ever want to go

One take over the line
Everything's gonna be fine
Then what's yours will be mine (that's right!)
One take over the line
Somebody give me a sign
The mistress is gonna go blind
One take over the line (that's right!)
One take over the line

No I have no reputation
And I'm not on any list
That's because I've got a publicist
Who covers up the avarice of where I put my fist
And if you don't see me
It doesn't mean I'm not there
It only means that when I steal from you
I don't want you to know because I really really care

One take over the line
Everything's gonna be fine
Then what's yours will be mine (that's right!)
One take over the line
Somebody give me a sign
The mistress is gonna go blind
One take over the line (that's right!)
One take over the line

Aaaahhhh Aaaahhhhh

One take over the line
Everything's gonna be fine
Then what's yours will be mine (that's right!)
One take over the line
Somebody give me a sign
The mistress is gonna go blind
One take over the line (that's right!)
One take over the line

I'm just another madman
Looking for another fall
And I got to make a killing
Cause a journey of a billion
Always starts with something small
I'm just another madman
I turn it off, I turn it on
And I won't be denied
No I won't be satisfied
Til the middle class is gone.

Gone Too Far
When the last insult comes down from your friends
Hoping all your blind ambition will fall
And the love you know has come to an end
And the silence answers your call

Save me
It's gone too far
It's gone too far

When your waiting for your ocean to rise
All alone at night long after I've gone
And your conversations all end in lies
And you wake up singing one of my songs

Save me
It's gone too far
It's gone too far

Save me
It's gone too far
It's gone too far

The End of Time

Sliding down the karma slide
Seems like it never ends
When we get to the other side
Maybe then we'll make amends

It's the end of time
The end of time
Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?

It's the end of the line
It's the end of time

Swing low sweet chariot
Give us back our youth
When they finally come to bury us
Maybe then, we'll tell the truth

It's the end of time
The end of time
Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?

It's the end of the line
It's the end of time

Always keep me in your heart
Even though I may be dead and gone
And though we may be far apart
My love for you is strong

It's the end of time
The end of time
Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?

It's the end of the line
It's the end of time

End, end of time
The end, end of time

Whoa, whoa, whoa

She Smiled Sweetly
Why do these thoughts loom so large on me?
They stay and stay, day after day
And won't disappear, my hair's turning gray
But she smiled sweetly, she smiled sweetly
She smiled sweetly and said don't worry
No, no no no

And why do they hide inside of me?
They take the peace most everyday
And won't disappear I've tried every way
But she smiled sweetly, she smiled sweetly
She smiled sweetly and said don't worry
No, no no no

There's no use in why or when
There's no use in crying
And so - begin again
Begin again
That's what she said so softly
I understood for once in my life
And feeling good most all of the time
Cause she smiled sweetly
She smiled sweetly, she smiled sweetly
And said don't worry
No, no no no

Sleeping Around the Corner

She called to me, "Meet me at the border
Wake me up when my papers are in order"
Lord, I don't wanna bring you down
No I never meant to give you a frown
I'm just sleeping round the corner
No, I don't wanna bring you down
No, I never meant to give you a frown
I'm just sleeping round the corner

Oh, oh, oh, oooh oooh

We made sweet love over and over
She said "Oh sweet darling
I'm your little red rover"
Lord, I don't wanna bring you down
No, I never meant to give you a frown
I'm just sleeping round the corner

She said to me, "I don't mean to scorn ya
But, I've been lying and I've been to scared to warn ya"
Lord, I don't wanna bring you down
No, I never meant to give you a frown
I'm just sleeping round the corner

No, I don't wanna bring you down
No I never meant to give you a frown
I'm just sleeping round the corner

Oh, oh, oh, oooh oooh

Food for thought indeed, it looks like I have something to analyze again. Finally.

And you take the lyrics from these and compare it to the lyrics from those and you can't help but . . . well, I'm just saying.

thanks so much for this, it helps a lot (i couldn't decipher most of them...).

i think it might be:

So, which brave sole wants to be the first to speculate on/analyze these puppies?

Are you referring to Cheaper Than Free?

CADreaming 04-24-2011 05:32 PM

^^I have no idea what you mean. I'm sure these are just general lyrics about the overall state of happiness he has in his personal life now. No regret or longing or pain about some random, long ago forgotten lost love (that he probably wishes he had married and had kids with a long time ago and moved back home to San Francisco...) ;)

Too obvious. Maybe when they're dead and buried we'll tell the truth. But my favorite lines are:

"it causes you harm" and the great, simple beauty of "in a while she'll make it rain . . . in a while she'll make it snow."

This man is just reaching in through the chest cavity and massaging my heart.

The guy didn't cast away his dreams very well. It sounds like they still torment him.

As I listen to him though, since I think and hope that Fleetwood Mac will make new music together in the end, I don't want Stevie on any of these songs. I am sure that I'll hear SnL performing together again (and I'm not counting that stupid Soldier's Angel). What I want though is for Lindsey to record just one more song with Christine. I would give anything to hear her voice on End of Time, for example. I ache as much for what's past as I welcome what is to come. From his lyrics, I think Lindsey does the same.

No. I have blocked the sickening Cheaper Than Free lyrics from my mind. I was actually being silly because we don't even have lyrics other than Secret Love do we? I'm just 100% sure we'll be getting some.

Just the review that said that In Your Dreams was racy made me think that those dreams describe, something similar to the dreams in the guitarist's lyrics. Sadly, over 17 years ago, when Mulder came up behind Scully and touched her unexpectedly on the neck, I have been on a ship and I can't get off.

I'm taking a stab at this one. For me, this is his song to his children. Reflected in them, he's confronting his mortality and also recognizing his immortality. Thus, the brilliant double meaning he applies to the phrase "the end of time." Can you feel it? I sure do in the elemental/primal melody on which these sentiments slide.

The beginning, sliding down the slide, did remind me of Flying Down Juniper and the memories of carefree childhood.

You see him talking to his children. I see him talking to his younger self, reaching back through the years and the mistakes that marked them and hoping that after death there may be resolution and confessions (truth telling) that have been eluded in this world.

I see an acceptance. If you told yourself that "maybe one day . . . " for decades, now you have to face the fact that that day is never coming -- not in this life. There's not sufficient time left.

I totally agree with this interpretation. To me, it seems like it's dealing with regrets and mistakes made in the past, and facing the fact that those days are gone, "Swing low sweet chariot, bring us back our youth..." and hoping that in another life they will be able to fix what they couldn't in this one.

If you look at the third verse as standing alone from the prior two, I can see this as well.

Ahh but it's through his children (and through them the reflection of youth, his, theirs, everybody's) that he finds this redemption. I think our interpretations intermingle. We are all our parents' children. Ergo: the end of time. Can you FEEL it?

Wow, I'm actually a little shocked by some of these lyrics. Why such an emphasis on the past? I swear, I am no shipper, but there is so clearly someone (could be more than one person) in LB's past that still functions as a muse for this man, and I agree with Michele, the sense of there being no time left to fix something is definitely there.

 My sentiments exactly.

Also, this line in The Way Love Goes:

"I'd like to take the pain away
away away away
I'd like to shake the covers back
"

I hear "The ___ shade of colors fade"

I can see your point, but usually men don't confront mortality until they are actually right up on it. They tend to think they are immortal. Lindsey's still got a lot of good years left. So, my speculation would lean towards it not being a song from him to his kids.

But, the lyrics do make me think of when my own father passed away, after a lengthy illness, and his feelings about knowing it was time and wanting to know he loved us. Maybe Lindsey wrote it from that perspective - of a friend or family member who knows the "end" is near. Except I don't know how the part about "telling the truth" figures in...

Well, I'm going to try very hard on May 4th! It's either feast or famine with these two. I'm going to be bi-coastal twice in one month thanks to these two people. Let's just send some healing energy to my internet connection so I can upload Seeds We Sow.
I'm so happy that my Panasonic camera broke and I ended up buying the Canon. It did a good job but I really need to learn how to use it better.

As for his lyrics, I can't help think that at least in some parts it is about one person. That one person who is playing at Webster Hall on May 4th? Yes.

I didn't go into the thread thinking they would be, but after actually reading them I can't seem to come to any other conclusion... for the most part, anyway.

Fiver 04-25-2011 08:15 PM

^ Same. In fact, this thread might have turned me into a shipper.

Thanks to everyone for the deciphering work, other than a few words here and there I wasn't able to make much of them out on my own. I'm a lyric sheet kind of person.

TrueFaith77 04-25-2011 08:18 PM

Seriously, I think "End of Time" might end up being one of my favorite Lindsey songs of all time.

CADreaming 04-25-2011 08:33 PM

I've listened to the songs nonstop all day today, on repeat. It's absurd. I'm addicted. And, I'm going around singing TEOT when I'm not listening... the man has ruined me. :)

Really, except for Rumours (and some of Tusk), I don't think most of Lindsey's FM songs are about Stevie. And I wouldn't say I feel L & O, Go Insane, and OOTC are about her either. But UTS . . .I think most of them are and I think the 6 songs I heard from SWS are about her.

As for Gift of Screws, maybe, maybe not. That could go either way. But UTS and this one definitely. I'm not even trying to make it so. I'm just sitting here minding my own business and he comes over and hits me over the head with it.

We are in the same boat! zomg that song!!! I've decided that when the Stevie ablum comes out I'm going to have to put these songs away until the release in September. It will be difficult.

Maybe, as with UTS (possibly), he wrote these songs with the intention of doing a Mac album. Or they can both be read as responses to the SYW and Unleashed tours, respectively. sheesh... what does go on with those two!?

I think that does have to be taken into consideration. These songs may have a romantic yearning slant because he thought he would be singing them with a woman. He thought they would be FM songs and he was writing them, with an eye to having her on stage and in the recording with him. So, the words might have taken a turn accordingly, just to heighten performance of the material, just so they could play off of each other.

In that sense, maybe that's why BTLH and SYHA don't remind me of Stevie at all. Maybe he wrote them as solo ventures and wasn't thinking about her when the lyrics evolved. Michele

...and so they can be unified in the Mac context...and to meet the needs of fans. ;)

I also agree about BTLH and SYHA; I don't get a Stevie vibe off those songs. Def do about Say Goodbye, of course, but that's bout it from that album.

Too bad he never really got the chance to write new songs after The Dance... except for Twist of Fate/Right Place to Fade... which is TTOOOOOOTTAAAAALLLY about Stevie.

 i was just about to write that in response to you on twitter! maybe he decided he's going commercial all the way - melodies and satisfying shipper needs (sorry, my cynical self coming through:D)

i completely disagree - when you listen to lyrics, and the story about how he and kristen met and clicked while both in bad relationships, to me that song has always sounded as totally about that.

Maybe, as with UTS (possibly), he wrote these songs with the intention of doing a Mac album. Or they can both be read as responses to the SYW and Unleashed tours, respectively. sheesh... what does go on with those two!?

Did Lindsey mention anything about writing any of the songs at the show? I don't remember hearing anything on the videos. But maybe I missed something.

I'm sure some of these were written during his self-imposed lock-up in his hotel room on FM's day off during Unleashed. Anyone else remember him mentioning that?

On another note, to date, Lindsey has never asked Stevie to sing with him on a solo album, has he? Closest thing I can think of is the Soundstage taping. But i can't think of anything else. She's recruited him for TISL and IYD. Maybe he made a conscious decision not to ask her since he fake her voice with all his fancy equipment.

Nothing is coming to mind. No, I don't think so. Which seems odd to me, because wasn't he saying a few years ago that he wanted her to come to his home studio and record some acoustic stuff eventually?

I don't think so. He talked about putting the album together in the surprise time he found on his hands, but didn't say exactly when the songs were written.

No, as far as we know Lindsey hasn't had Stevie on his albums and I like that separation just to distinguish between FM and the solo work and let them preserve their identities. But he did ask a certain dame to be on his solo albums (and he was on one of hers) and he'd absolutely make my life complete if he'd ask her again.

I'm sorry - there is absolutely no reason at all The Dance forward for them to play any romantic card onstage. They could have easily acted friendly, walked onstage and sang their hits and walked off without ever bringing up their "past" relationship again. But, they didn't do that. If they're doing it now, it's a calculated afterthought that was a result of something that happened.

nope, he didn't mention anything like CAD story. just that the time unexpectedly opened up, and he filled it.

if he did, i didn't hear it.

EDIT: sorry, Michele and i responded within a minute of each other. :) guess it's true then, he didn't say anything.

So, to compare...

His:
"We crossed the line
From the fire we were running"

Hers:
"And even though they were so in love
They drew a line in the sand just because
In the smoke and the fire
She burned his house down"
