Eagles May Have New Album Soon
Wed Jan 31, 4:23 PM ET

After nearly 30 years, California's classic rock group the Eagles may soon release their first album of all-new music.

Founding member Don Henley said during a private weekend concert that the band was nearing completion on an album of all-new material, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Tuesday.

"It's coming out in 60 to 90 days, if we don't kill each other first," Henley told the crowd Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Eagles and Henley spokesman Larry Solters said Wednesday there was no comment.

"The Long Run" in 1979 was the Eagles last album featuring all-new studio material. That album included the Grammy-winning single "Heartache Tonight."

The group officially disbanded in 1982, then they reunited in 1994 for a comeback tour featuring Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, Timothy Schmit and Don Felder.

The band appeared together again in 1998, with past members Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner, when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Henley, 59, will be honored Feb. 9 as the 2007 MusiCares Person of the Year. The annual gala put on by the Recording Academy and the MusiCares Foundation is among the festivities leading up to the 49th Annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center on Feb. 11.

Henley, who has a home in Dallas, was selected for his achievements as a musician and for his philanthropic work benefiting environmental issues and musicians' rights and concerns.

MusiCares, established by The Recording Academy in 1989, provides assistance to individuals in the music industry during times of need.

I'll believe it when I see it since I've heard that rumor off and on since 1979.

Maybe the March 6,2007 (Tentative) official release date of the new Guns N Roses "Chinese Democracy" started a fire under their asses (Henley is friends with Axl, so who knows) - either that or playing the same setlist has finally wore thin

What will happen first? A new GnR album or another Axl Rose facelift?

Wow. I'll be interested to hear it. Hopefully it's not like that Whole In The World thing they released a few years ago. Although the underlying sentiment of the song was nice.

Oh ye of little faith....if Don says it's happening, then it is. :)

Seriously, the album IS really just about done and will be out by June. The band's going to tour this summer too. Very exciting times for Eagles fans. :)

I'll buy it, cuz I like the Eagles, and think Don has one of the alltime great rock voices (even if he is a horse's ass).

Hmm I just don't feel it.IMO the Eagles most likely don't have IT anymore ..Even The Long Run was kind of creatively spent ..a few high points and lots of filler ..compare it to the consistent artistic brilliance of Tusk released the same month and twice as long ,of course FM's own Long Run ..Mirage was only 2 and a half years away.

Interesting that they haven't had a full album of new material since 1979.

But still, I'll pass. The Eagles bore me like white bread.

My sentiments exactly.

I'll at least give it a listen on iTunes. I'm not going to just dismiss it out of hand. They are a bunch of very talented musicians. And it will be refreshing to hear people that actually play their own insturments, write their own songs and sing without the benefit of Pro Tools.

I think this new album has some potential based on the three songs that I have heard but whether or not it will sell millions of copies remains to be seen.

The thing is with him is I get VERY annoyed when he starts preaching in his songs.

LOL, the Eagles will tour after releasing an album and FM will tour without releasing an album, and hopefully nobody will dredge up that dreaded quote from Lindsey.
