Nah, this can't be true.

On my way home from work today, after they played Stop Dragging My Heart around, the DJ said that Fleetwood Mac is touring again this year, & that Stevie Nicks is in Fleetwood Mac for the duration. But Lindsey Buckingham, said the DJ, is going solo after the tour. This can't be right. I've read that they all will be working on a joint new album. The Say You Will album had some of Lindsey's Gift of Screws stuff on there b/c he didn't think that it would sell as a solo album. Where could the DJ have gotten his info? Maybe he got mixed up & meant Stevie. Anybody heard this one?

Lee :)

BTW, this station, 98.5 (www.bigclassicrock.com), is a very good station for playing the best classic rock, & they play a lot of Fleetwood Mac & Stevie Nicks songs.

Well...

Media people don't usually know much of anything and they pass along rumours like nobody's business. I'm sure he either meant Stevie or none of that is true. I don't think either S or L are breaking away from FM ANY time soon, NO WAY.

I think Christy's right. Radio DJs generally aren't reliably clued in to Fleetwood Mac's plans. I just ignore them because I find them to be completely ignorant or inclined to exaggerate to the point of absurdity. They may take the tiniest smidgin of fact from somewhere & create a major work of fictive art out of it.

I agree, this guy was probably confused or going by old rumors, so to speak.

Yeh I don't think this guy knows what the heck he's talking about.

DrummerDeanna 05-12-2004 10:20 PM

Yep...as a former DJ lol...they don't know what the heck they're talking about most of the time...I listen to the old stations I worked for and just cringe at all the crap they spew on a daily basis...my favorite was a DJ who claimed Chris McVie was joining FM for one night..in El Paso, Texas...ya right...of all places she would NOT go to that armpit of a city lol...anyway...if ya hear it on the radio randomly I wouldn't take it too seriously...

Maybe he got some info on Lindsey putting out some of his solosongs soon, they are ready! Maybe Warners signed him for that in combination with a new macalbum. Then he can clear up his longduring project that just partially came to fruition. So they can build a new macalbum from the ground up. But hey, I'm thinkin' wishful here.

Just Rumours, people make up the greatest stuff, just to get "the lightning", ( don't let Monica Geller hear this, she's gonna freak out) :xoxo: LOL

The rumour about Lindsey planning to release his finished solo songs is not new, so cut this DJ a break. In fact, it was Mick Fleetwood who made remarks to that effect not long ago.

Once again, if this turns out to be incorrect, it's just another instance of Mick shooting off his mouth when he should have just passed up a perfect opportunity to remain perfectly quiet.

Exactly. Mick said last month that we can look forward to some Lindsey solo project, which might get off the ground now that he's hot after rejoining the band. Keep your hopes up.

And if Lindsey does a small tour, I'll have a coronary and attend every show.

Dude, we need your help in the Buckingham board (the Red Rover guitar thread).

Lee 05-17-2004 01:25 PM

Well, it may really be true.

Here's the e-mail that I got back from the DJ. It's got to be a really short tour if they are indeed going back into the studio to record a new album.

"Hey Lee! I got the information on Lindsey Buckingham from a press
release that came out last week. And press releases are pretty accurate so he will most likely hit the road for short solo tour. No dates yet though.
We'll keep you posted.

-Ryan O'Malley"

I got to admit that I'm pretty surprised at this. Lindsey probably will just stay out on the West Coast with his tour I imagine. I'd wish he'd come East though; I'd love to see him solo since I never have before.

Lee :)

Thanks for the info. I'm still skeptical but at least it gives me something to possibly look forward to.
