It's going to be competing with lots of movies when it opens next week and with less people going to the movies, so many "big" movies are going to have people split, imo.

I suppose people are getting sick of Cruise, but everyone knows that War Of The Worlds is out soon because of it, and that can only be a good thing.
Mr & Mrs Smith actually exceeded expectations and gave both Jolie and Pitt the biggest opening of their careers. It's a decent movie, but a lot of that was down to all the publicity leading up to the release.
Batman Begins didn't do quite as well as expected, but still opened with $72.9 million (for its five-day gross - it opened on a Wednesday). That's still pretty impressive. All the press Holmes garnered didn't really affect that movie in a positive or negative way I think, because no one is going to see Batman to see the love interest.
I think all the signs are good for WOTW but of couse I could be wrong.
I'm seeing it this week, so I may well change my mind!
I have to say I totally forgot Kidman was in Batman Forever. Tom Cruise obviously likes Batman's chicks.
