And I loved the new Dance and SYW songs. The EP? Let's just say I was glad they did it. |

And he was able to simultaneously use Stevie's audience-drawing persona and domineer her. He was also able to leave the band for a decade and waltz right back in at will, brandishing more unreleasable solo work. He is the problem. |

What's most mysterious to me is Stevie and Lindsey's lack of activity this year. Even after huge Mac tours, they usually jump into either solo shows or solo albums. It's weird to me that BOTH of them haven't had an ounce of activity this year. The optimist in me thinks they are secretly recording together.

This is so true. Lindsey's condescension toward Stevie and her contributions to FM is well known, despite the fact that without her Fleetwood Mac would probably not exist as it is, and after Rumours, his successful contributions became almost non-existent. It is Stevie who is the one who has consistently returned to Fleetwood Mac despite her solo success, and puts the band before her solo work. After Stevie's treatment during the making of Say You Will (see Destiny Rules), I really don't blame her for not wanting to make an album with a guy who consistently criticizes her work, then releases flops. |

and yes, poor Stevie must have wanted to contribute at least 3 new songs to the EP, same as Lindsey, but he wouldn't let her and relegated her to re-record a single, pre-FM song. ;) actually, how many really good / musically creative songs has Stevie released that she didn't write some time pre-BN album? . |

While on the other hand Stevie has put out 3 (yes three) solo albums since she returned to FM...If the way to get them to record FM records is to refuse the solo projects why have they (WB or FM) not done that with Stevie? Stevie recorded "TISL" just prior to "SYW" (but WB declined LB solo) Stevie recorded "In Your Dreams" instead of going in the studio with FM (like Mick wanted) Stevie even recorded 24 Karat Gold while FM was hard at work recording the as yet and unfinished and unreleased project...Why did WB not tell Stevie "Finish the FM record BEFORE you record another solo album"??? |
i was thinking about this recently - you know what i love about this place lately? it is balanced! just read through the last few pages in this thread, there are opinions on all sides! there are fans of everyone, not just fans of a single songwriter with blinders on, dumping on everyone else.
i was reading some old threads on the LB board, and while there was lots of activity, there would be one Buck fan there, and 10 chiffs just dumping on both Lindsey and that fan. on a Lindsey board! |

That, and 24KG was the last album Stevie had to release to fulfill her contract.. If anything, they told her to release the album quickly so FM could tour and record without that contract hanging over her head. They announced Christine's return at the beginning of 2014, with dates scheduled for later that year. That couldn't have been enough time to assemble, record, and promote a new FM album, so most likely Stevie knew she had to go on the road and wouldn't have time to fulfill her contract if she were to wait. All that being said, this now frees up everyone from their respective contracts, making the case for a joint effort in the near future. |
