It wasn't till the late '70s, after he had spent five years in John Denver's Aspen-based band, that Steve Weisberg began to see that his former boss was sort of cool. Weisberg was backstage at a John Denver gig at Los Angeles' Universal Amphitheatre when Christine McVie, from Fleetwood Mac, asked Weisberg who he was. When Weisberg said he had been in Denver's group, McVie — who was on top of the pop world at the time, just after the release of Fleetwood Mac's “Rumours” album — was impressed.

“She said, ‘Oh, I love John.' And I said, ‘You? You're too cool for that,'” Weisberg recalled. “I didn't understand how cool John was. He told corny jokes that would make me cringe.”

Back in the '70s, Weisberg would watch as models and actors scrambled to get front-row tickets to Denver's concerts. He couldn't quite grasp the attraction.

“I used to be surprised when a musician who was really hip would show up backstage. One thing John wasn't is hip,” Weisberg said. “Paul Simon was hip. James Taylor was hip. John Denver was sweet and sincere.”

The footage we have is beautiful to watch, even if it's bad quality. I wish there was more. You can see their chemistry and odd personalities through it. I don't really follow other bands and I don't know what is normal and what is par for the course. I don't know how the Stones or the Eagles act together, but watching the five Macsters does seem magical to me, even if the interaction is not as extraordinary as I imagine it to be -- but I think it is.

NUVO: If you could play some romantic songs what would they be?

Seim: I wish I would have done research. Okay, two love jams that we're going to cover, huh? Well I just was told about this Fleetwood Mac re-release and it's one of my favorite albums of all-time. So I've been reading a lot about the recording of that. So how about two Fleetwood Mac songs? How about 'Dreams?' If we could play or sing or do what they did, I probably should do 'Dreams,' then. I guess 'Second Hand News' is about laying down in the tall grass and letting me do my stuff. That's kind of molesty, actually. We'll just pick any two random Fleetwood Mac songs and I'm sure they're probably about love. I'll just make sure to do as much cocaine as possible to replicate the era in which they were played.

Queen voted top band to spend 15 minutes with

Queen have been voted the top band the UK would most want to spend 15 minutes with.

The 'We Are The Champions' rockers topped a survey conducted by Virgin Media, who announced the launch of their new channel Vintage TV, after receiving a majority of votes from the British public.

Richard Wheeler, head of content acquisition at Virgin Media, said: "Queen still proves the show must go on as the UK continues to enjoy some of the best songs from the last century on Vintage TV."

Shortly behind the music legends - fronted by the late Freddie Mercury - comes David Bowie, who recently released his first album in a decade, 'The Next Day'.

The top five is completed by soul sensation Stevie Wonder, whose hits include 'Superstitious' and 'Isn't She Lovely', 'Little Lies' musicians Fleetwood Mac and British rockers Oasis.

Vintage TV will show a range of original music programmes and concert footage, as well as full-length interview features, 'rockumentaries' and music news bulletins.
