Y'all, what the hell is "Come" about...I swear, for some reason, that song has been ignored on my ipod because I never can find the right frame of mind to listen to it, haha. However, I listened to it just now....and I mean....am I perverted, or can this be interpreted kind of sexual??? Or can someone set me straight and tell me what it's about?

I think it's Lindsey's adaptation of the late Anglo-Saxon (or very early Middle English) poem Sumer Is Icumen In, a joyous paean to the warmth & fecund greenery of the seasons.

Cardinal sin, I know. I don't *hate* it, but it isn't my go-to track when I put the album on. I tend to skip it. :sorry:

From what I can tell, it's about Anne Heche. That's kinda been the hot name on the rumour (heh, spelling) mill in terms of "Come." I think it is definitely sexual to an extent: lines like "one thing leads to another/but I guess you know about that" and "think of me, sweet darlin'/everytime you don't come" make that undeniable. HOWEVER, I think its just as much emotive. Lindsey is basically telling her (in a spiteful way, of course) that her desicion to end things between them would haunt her. She will "think of [him]" all the time and reflect on what could have been, so to speak.... especially when current circumstances aren't ideal. That can be taken sexually (see above), emotionally ("everything going bad," "everytime you're feelin' sad") and sometimes both or either ("when the best just isn't enough").

I donno. But especially from reading Carol Ann's book (albeit being ridiculous and untrustworthy), I believe that the jealous/spiteful type in Lindsey is definitely present, as proven through this song.

I haven't read Carol's book. I kind of assumed that book written by an ex wouldn't be the most reliable source for information. Judging by all the comments I've read about it, I'm glad I haven't.

You don't know how many times I have sung this part making fun of this song. Probably my most hated sung words by Chris. The way she says the word OUT--and I see YOU know exactly what I mean--the way she does it makes me wish I was there so I could've slapped her in the face and told her to go take a nap.

I think it's quite clear the majority of us absolutely HATE two songs by FM: Oh Diane and Silver Girl.
