Well, Peter wrote hit songs. His songs topped the charts in Europe, and he was the #3 most successful writer at one point in Europe, behind Lennon/McCartney and Jaggar/Richards. Don't get me wrong, Bob got screwed royally and should have been inducted. But I've always been confused as to why Jeremy and Danny were inductucted, but not Billy and Rick. Internationally speaking, the BTM band was the second most successful version of the band. They had a top 20 album and sold lots of concert tickets. In fact, they even sold out Wembly. Sure, people weren't paying to see Billy and Rick, but then they weren't paying to see Danny and Jeremy, either.

Me too. But, seeing how it's almost June, 2005, I think that's unlikely. I hope I'm wrong.

But here's a thought I had last night that frankly scared the hell out of me. The next release for Lindsey will only be his third studio album in twenty years

After that dawned on me, I decided to check something out. If you start at 1978, Lindsey Buckingham has released seven studio albums, while Peter Green has released eleven! What's worse, in the last twenty years, Lindsey's only had TWO studio albums, where Peter Green has had SIX! So who's the Mac's REAL recluse?

ShangriLaTroubl 05-27-2005 04:02 PM

Well actually at the very last Mac show Mick said "THE MAC WILL BE BACK!!"

Lindsey "sold" his projects to the Mac. His songs for SYW and TITN were basicly for soloalbums we all know that. so that could have been 5 soloalbums in 25 years. And for Peter: as much as I love him: some of HIS work should not have been released...imo. And the man his still a legend because of three years and basicly the same amount of albums. So if we're macfans...we should not rely on quantity, but on quality. Still: BRING THE DAMN **** OUT LB!!!!!!!!

I still only count three solo potential solo albums, and he wouldn't have had any songs for Fleetwood Mac. In any event, I agree with you on TITN, but not so much on SYW. Given that what would have been GoS had Mick, John, and Chris, it's hardly a solo outing. While that wasn't necessarily going to be a "Fleetwood Mac" album, the implication was still there. I honestly think that the whole OOTC situation made Lindsey realize that he really needed Fleetwood Mac more than he realized. Everything happened the way it should have with that album. It was his best solo album ever, he got the big first review in Rolling Stone (five stars, I believe), he had videos, his songs were getting radio air play, the record company backed him, he did television and radio shows, and even toured in support of the album. At the end of the day, I believe it only sold about what "Time" sold. So, color me cynical, but prior to his tour, Lindsey said that he couldn't see a situation where he'd ever work with Fleetwood Mac again, but after the the tour, he somehow got back in touch with Mick Fleetwood. I'm not saying one lead to the other, but I'm sure the whole experience really humbled Lindsey and opened his mind to the possibility of working with Fleetwood Mac again. I mean, my favorite story is how Lindsey asked Mick about maybe getting a bass player, as if he didn't know who Mick was going to suggest. Subconsciously, I think Lindsey really wanted a Mac reunion, but didn't know how to just come out and say it, especially after all that went down in 1987.

Oh, I don't disagree. I'm just saying that purely on number of albums, it's odd that the guy who's often called a recluse who's turned his back on the music industry would, at the end of the day, have had more studio albums released than somebody who's considered to be a pretty stable person.

He's barely to a broil now, I'm afraid. :distress:

Well...

He said he hoped to get it out before the end of this year....we still have 6 months to go. I'm being extremely hopeful...until Christmas gets here. LOL

Soundstage hasn't emailed me back about his show either, dang them!

Heh. Good point.

Does it stand to reason that most (or at least a good portion) of people who saw a show had the new album?
Oh, I don't think that's been true since the heady days of 1977. The majority of rock concert audiences for Fleetwood seem to have just wanted a party night out. That may be true of nearly all the arena-headlining bands, even in dubious cases, like Springsteen's 1984/85 tour behind "Born in the USA."

Don't be too sure of that, Chris. Many years ago, I thought so, too -- I thought Fleetwood Mac would be the only band I would listen to for the rest of my life, & that I would always be as nuts over them. You don't know what you'll think of all of it until after those twenty years go by.

I wish I could come back here twenty years from now just to see how many "huge fans" are still huge fans.

What's really mindblowing is that my mom, who is 70 & just had a titanium knee put in a few weeks ago, is moving around more than Stevie was moving when I saw her at the Arrowhead Pond in 2003. Stevie. Just. Stood. There. My eyes see very well.

Fifty-six means nothing these days -- that isn't old. Fifty-six-year-olds bound around like thirty-six-year-olds these days. Stevie is "acting" old, for some reason -- it started years ago when she frequently told interviewers, "I'm too old for that" (she was probably 35!). She loves the idea of being little old Aunt Stevie, the wise old lady.

David, you are right! I'm so tired of people harping on the "oh she's 56, I'd like to see how well YOU can move when you're 56!!" It's just nonsense. Last week, my neice celebrated her Sweet 16, her 50 year old mother COMMANDED the dance floor the entire night. This is a woman who last year had to receive lumbar steroids for herniated discs in her spine! Disco dancing all night! Imagine that!

Well that was 2003, this is 2005. If you saw her on the first leg of the SYW tour this was right after she supposedly fell down the stairs or something. I have a DVD of the first show in Columbus and it is obvious she is limping and is injured. But by late Summer (around the time that Live in Boston was taped) I think she was fine. I don't think many people complained about her lack of movement in 2004 because I think she was pretty much recovered by then. I just saw her in Vegas on the Friday and Saturday shows and she was litterally shaking her ass like I have never seen before. So, I just think that it is unfair to judge her state today based on how she was acting right after she took a little tumble down the stairs!

She moved like a boulder onstage when I saw her in 2004. That whole Mansfield show was just the pits, though. If it wasn't for Lindsey, Red Rover, and I Know I'm Not Wrong, I would have left. It reminded me of those atrocious appearances on Leno and Today. And, this is just me, but I don't think a four day stint at a Vegas casino is indicative of how she's going to be when she's actually out on the road and touring, good gawd, the sheds.
