Well, they went to YouTube to see what was out there in the fan's hands, but there's nothing to say she didn't also pull something "new" out of the vault that we've never heard before.

Stevie still has her storage in Phoenix with all of those old tapes, and we've seen before that there are still songs we hadn't previously heard ("Reconsider Me," her demo of "The Chain") -- so it's very possible.

"We went on to YouTube and we found all the songs that, somehow, were taken from my house or picked up or loaned out or whatever, and we picked up all the songs that like -- there was like 25 songs that the fans really wanted me to record, and we picked 18."

What Karma & I are trying to say, is that it's very possible they also pulled out a vaulted song that would be new to us. Something we didn't previously know existed. (Or even one of the many songs listed on the US Copyright site, that we know exist but have never heard.)

Here, read this, about Secret Love, prior to the release of In Your Dreams

How it came to be recorded was she had a vision of seeing a cassette with Secret Love written on it and said she could kind of remember it and she sings a bit of the chorus "My Secret Love Secretly Died"... So she sent Lori Nicks her sister in law back to Phoenix to look in the vaults for it... and while Lori was away and not finding it... they found it on Youtube! She said she didn't know whether to feel good about that or not - that's 1976! Then explains how back in the day she would pass out cassettes to friends all the time, she was passing out cassettes all the time never in a million years thinking they'd end up on every bootleg record that would ever go out... So the people out there will be familiar with it.

I still doubt it.If she recorded 18 from YouTube why would she have to get more

As an added treat, to give us something we'd never heard before?

Just speculation, of course. It's also very possible that this is a new part of something we have heard. But anything is possible really!

It's possible that she heard something on YouTube that reminded her of another song that wasn't leaked. Or it's possible that she just added lyrics to one of the demos on YouTube. Or, perhaps one of those YouTube demos was only a piece of something larger, and her vault in Phoenix had a more complete version that we've never heard before.

We won't know really until the track list is announced. I did a quick search for the lyrics "follow you anywhere" on this site and came up empty handed.

As of today 16 songs were recorded. She found 25 demos on YouTube. I found like 45 on YouTube. Half of her fans haven't heard any demos even some people on the ledge.

welcomechris 06-22-2014 02:20 PM

It is possible that it is a new section of an old song.
I have heard the music before but I can not put my finger on it

She has a lot more demos that that - in interviews to promote The Other Side Of The Mirror, she says she brought over 200 demos to the studio to select songs from, and let Rupert Hine make the final selections.

Also, to be specific, she says she picked 25 demos from YouTube "that fans really wanted me to record".

Many on The Ledge have collected Stevie demos for years - decades, even. I've been collecting since 1989, and these lyrics and the melody are completely unfamiliar.

I'd love to see a picture of this 'vault' in Phoenix. It could be box or trunk - but I prefer to think of it as a room...with some lace, and paper flowers, and shelves of tapes. :D

All I can tell from these snippets is we are getting some jangly songs. They are not snippeting any ballads.

Johnny Stew 06-22-2014 03:05 PM

Stevie talks about the vaults in this clip from an interview at the Hamptons International Film Festival, in 2012.

"The cassettes -- because I have an amazing assistant, and my girl singers, also, have been with me since 1979 -- so between those three, they really keep all those cassettes very organized. So we have vaults in Phoenix, where, because I lived there -- I had a house there until a couple years ago when I sold it -- but I still have all my storage there in Phoenix with, you know, a lot of my great stuff. And all the songs. Then we also have drawers of them here -- I mean, not here, but in Los Angeles. And they are all labelled. So we know where to go when we're looking -- you know, like with 'Annabel Lee.' We found that in the demos."

Garbo 06-22-2014 03:13 PM

It sounds like she is singing the words 'frozen love' before turning to the camera but can't tell for sure...
