I may be one of the few that feels this way...a lot of people might think its sweet and charming or whatever. It irks me, though. I always change the song when it gets to the end. I can't stand to listen to it.

I don't like those kids either. I was thinking, "has it come to this?" Actually, when I first heard it, I thought it was Lindsey manipulating his voice. Somehow that would have made it more palatable than the awful kiddie truth.

I'm not sure if the Peter Lewry book is accurate or not, but it says they recorded Make Me a Mask with the Mirage songs in France. So, if it was in the can already, I'd have liked to see it show its face in 1987.

See my polemic of Lewry's book on alt.music.fleetwood-mac.

Well, I used to be able to read news groups when I had Outlook Express, but I don't know how to do it anymore.

Do you think Make Me a Mask was recorded then or later.

Later. It's an experiment in the Far East pentatonic scales.

But my original point was that Lewry shouldn't be considered authoritative in any way with regard to the post-1974 years. His "research" is all secondary-source-based.

So, that would put it in the Tango era?

I agree, actually! I used to like it, but I think it got overplayed. I feel that way about most of the songs from Rumors.

no, that's ridic. It might have been a cute idea for kicking around in the studio, but the fact that it made the final cut is embarrassing. I was like, "guys... seriously?"

It doesn't even make sense to have it in the song.

NicksMonsoon 07-05-2009 02:12 PM

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about Say You Will. I was afraid I was going to sound super bitchy by being negative about the kids. I do agree that it might have been cute for them to do it and it be something just for them...but to put it on the final cut was kind of annoying.

Well everyones made some great choices here.....don't know if I can do it justice really.....I'll try though.....
Christine : Don't Stop (like someone said before all I can think of is Bill Clinton now....but before that it really wasn't my most favorite songs anyway......)
Lindsey: Make Me A Mask/Not That Funny/Oh Diane/Family Man/Big Love/....but like someone else mentioned too....I'm in this group.....I don't like the TITN LP/cd at all......bunch of tencho crap.....ugh.....don't recall the last time I've even put the cd in.....
Stevie: Tango stuff/Paper Doll/No Questions Asked/SYW with the kids/Silver Girl....what most everyone here has stated already........

As if the song wasn't nauseatingly "cute" enough to begin with, right? I have big issues with Stevie writing music that's "cutesy". It never does anything for me, ever.

I don't know!

I'm listening to a non-FM thing of RUNNING THROUGH THE GARDEN now (because I'm rearranging my audio). This is definitely NOT White Album era.

Wait, I see your point.

I dislike most of SYW, especially the title track. I've also never much liked Crystal, no matter who is singing it.

Incomprehensible...

Yeah, "Crystal" may be my favorite Mac song ever. Maybe...

they are both ok songs...but I like Sugar Daddy a lot more.

maybe it is a generational thing, but I don't get it when someone calls their significant other "daddy". its just too pervy for me. I even get irked when listening to Black Water by the Doobie Brothers. "come and dance with your daddy all night long". and the way Chris says it on Oh Daddy....*shudder*
