Yeah it kind of wrecked her career ..at least in Hollywood ..too bad she is a truly great actress. She owned every scene she was in.

I have to respectfully disagree with the comment about Vanessa Redgrave's 1978 Oscar acceptance speech being embarrassing. I thought she was articulate and bold, utilising the platform to speak with honesty and courageousness.

For myself I was not disagreeing with the content of her speech .I am no fan of Israel's treatment of the people of Palestine..just the effect that said speech had on the career of a great actress,:shrug:

According to Paul Fishkin, "Julia" was supposed to be on the remastered reissue of BELLA DONNA, along with one or two other tracks, including "Golden Braid." The fact that this didn't happen for the 30th anniversary (and I doubt it'll happen for the 35th!) leaves me wondering if these tracks could appear on 24 KARAT GOLD because Stevie wants them to finally have a home, or if she'll concentrate on demos that have never been released? Hmmmm....!!!

How have I not heard this before?
I was searching through my archives of demos but didn't have this one.

Does anyone know where I can find a mp3 of this?

OH MY!!!! I'm concerned. I agree with whowever said some demos where not selected for albums for a reason. Starshine is such a lame demo . I've read posts stating people dont care what Stevie puts as far as demos as long as there's new music. I tgink they may be satisfied listening to Stevie farting lol. That's tragic. I remember in the 80's and 90's hearing great demos such as If You Ever Did Believe, Sorcerer, Planets..etc. I will hold complete judgement but so far this is concerning. Still what to hear new versions of All the Beautiful Worlds. .Julia. ..She Still Loves Him and ...Space Needle. ....Fingers crossed! Okay fart lovers..give it to me.....:]

If these songs do end up on the new album they will certainly be all new productions and vocals...

Well, if you think Starshine is the aural equivalent of Stevie farting, there probably isn't really much I can say to you. I think we're just on different pages, or even reading entirely different books.

I do think it's important to keep in mind that they aren't going to go for simply the "best" demos, but the demos they feel inspired by and that they feel they can really add something to and "finish" this time around. Which is a very different criteria. But no one is going to be completely happy with the choices Stevie makes on this or any other album. Everything Stevie has ever released has is share of detractors. I'm sure this album will be no different. And that's as it should be.

Plus let me add... that in the last 17 years that any "vault" songs that Stevie has done are usually the "favorites" compared to the "new" album cuts. Even when the arrangement is less that favorable, they still rate higher than the new tracks.

Say You Will had.. Goodbye Baby, RTTG, SAY, and they were totally better than... Silver Hurl and Illume.

In Your Dreams had... AnnabelleLee, Moonlight and Secret Love, considered by many "fans" to be the best tracks on the album, even if the others were all very good with the exception of Cheaper Than Blah.

I kind of agree with this statement. Starting with the "Candlebright/Sorcerer/Planets" triumvirate from TISL (the best three songs on the album in my opinion, along with the title track and "Bombay Sapphires") and continuing with her vault songs on SYW and IYD.

It seems that Stevie's "creative peak" was the late 70's/early 80's and perhaps that's why all the "vault songs" are everyone's favorite over any new material. Either that, or us diehard fans are just predisposed to enjoy all the early demos more so than new stuff.

Even though she didn't write the music, I still think "Everybody Loves You" is one of the best songs Stevie has done in a long time! I rank that up there as one of her best.

I must also add that I've been listening to the reel to reels of ALL the takes of "24 Karat Gold" and am getting really excited to hear what comes out of this one. All the vocal takes on each reel are so different from one another and it seems that the possibilities are endless when it comes to this song. I really hope they do a great job with this one.
