Let me rephrase that so you understand the intent of what I was saying:

An outside producer would take the pressure off both of them, but honestly, I think they'll let Lindsey do it so they don't have to pay someone else, who might cost more.

I don't think cost has much to do with it. Lindsey has produced so much of the band's work because they have been largely successful under his guardianship. An outside producer might, in theory, make Stevie feel more comfortable, but the reality is that the best FM projects are homegrown. This is partially because these five people together are idiosyncratic and difficult to tamp down.

For all its flaws, SYW turned out to be a really rewarding project, perhaps the band's most substantial offering since Tusk.

I doubt an outside producer will be brought in, as Christine and Lindsey have already worked on nine songs as a team. At most, someone buffer might be brought in to negotiate drama between Stevie and Lindsey, but this album--if it ever sees the friggin light of day--will most likely be a Lindsey/FM production...

This is my expectation, too, but it's fun to speculate! :nod:

I felt this way about SYW.

When Twisted was about to come out... I thought.. "Wow!! B/N together." I ran and bought the whole album so I could listen to the song. I remember being disappointed they listed it as Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham vs. B/N.

And of course I was wanting that amazing chemistry they had on B/N, White Album, and Rumours... And I remember being so disappointed.. There's a disconnect that I hear, just like there is on SYW and the EP.
There's a 2011 Wiltern version of Soldier's Angel that I can barely get through. Mostly because of the droning.

I wish they would sit down and write together in the studio like Christine and Lindsey do. Or even the three of them would write something together.
Make some magic and quit marketing yourselves on the past. It doesn't work musically. It does work dollar wise because their relationship sells.

Yes. The same here excluding the bulk freebies I've received in the last few years.I'm so happy vinyl is coming back.People are waking up and noticing they are better then digital.

What about CD? Plus I'm sure most people don't own a turn table. I've never in my life had one or used one.

I always likened the sound of a record / turntable to real-life voices and instruments. When I play a CD, it sounds to my ears like a perfect, cold, crisp recording. But when I play a well mastered record, if I close my eyes it almost sounds warm, like the band is playing live, there, with me.

Records just sound more real. It's difficult to explain any other way.

They were crap when they first came out.They've gotten better over the years.For current digital releases with no vinyl .I rather have the CD then any downloaded music off the internet.Its like throwing money out in thin air without getting a physical copy of it.And most digital downloads sound like crap through a good system.They are great for portable use like an Ipod.


I agree.You get the warm sound from vinyl.I also love looking at the artwork without using a magnifying glass .


If FM ever releases this Loooooong awaited album.I hope they make a LP version.

I don't like remastered records that much. I love hearing the natural habitat in and for which the songs were recorded - vinyl. After5 yearswithout a turntable, I now do not listen to CDs anymore. It's vinyl or mp3.

I forgot to add.If anybody needs a new turntable .The best thing to do is finding a 1950's to 1980's old vintage good working one with a good cartridge and needle .Technics ,Pioneer ,Garrard ,BSR is just a few great name brands. I would not trust any of these cheaply made new ones on good vinyl.

We got to remember .We are dealing with the Mac.Like wine when it ages .In time they will shine with a killer album with all 5 on it with great music to enjoy for rest of out lives.

I'm using a cheapy from Best Buy. Sony, but only 99 bucks. I've had it for a few years and it works well, but I'm planning an upgrade in 2016.

The options range from $400 up to $10K, but I can't fathom spending more than a few hundred for a turntable. MusicDirect has one that is THIRTY EIGHT THOUSAND dollars!

About a year and a half ago, my friend was moving to a new apartment and was going to get rid of his stereo, and he said I could have it. It's an all-in-one stereo with a turntable, two cassette decks, a radio and a receiver. It must be from the 1980s, since it doesn't have a CD player (but I connected an AUX cable so that I can play digital files or CDs through it if I really want to). Since he gave it to me, I've been listening to records (and cassettes!) a lot, and it really is my favorite way to listen to music. Analog sound is more satisfying to my ears. There are a few used record stores in my area that let me trade in old stuff (CDs, DVDs, etc.) in exchange for store credit, so now I can spend hours browsing at the music store just like I used to do when I was a kid. It's pretty much my main hobby these days! :laugh: I've been able to get many near-mint condition Mac-related albums and tapes (not to mention lots of other artists) for free or very cheaply, including Tusk (on vinyl and cassette), and Mick Fleetwood's The Visitor album, which I'd never even heard until now.

They can keep the one for $38 thousand dollars unless its gold plated with Stevie's or Mac's name on it and they once owned it.

Some of those all in one compact stereos from the 1970's and 80's work great .I have a 1970's Realistic from Radio shack which sounds great and it has a BSR turntable in it.I rather use one of those then a USB record player.Just hook the line out from the stereo to a RCA to a 1/8 inch stereo plug wire and plug that into you sound line input on your computer or laptop,dont plug it into the computer mike jack or take the audio out of the speaker output.It might burn something out or it will overload and sound distorted.

Easy to adjust sound level using your recording software prog.

I am glad to hear that Stevie is on board for the new album. I wonder if she will write new material or take some songs from the vault. Space Needle would be a good choice.

What I am waiting for now is a public announcement by the band or their management about when the album will be released and what it will be called. That's when I will start to get really excited.

Much to come? We thought this would be a quiet year. I'm excited. What they are planning may never come to pass, but I'd be happy just to hear whispers about what they intend for 2016.

I still think they might announce some more tour dates for 2016...maybe another leg of US/Canada shows.

If they do tour in 2016 I really hope that it is in support of a new album. Only time will tell.

I'm interested to see what Fleetwood Mac could come up with these days. I just would rather not ever see any of their new songs live. If I pay $400-$500 a ticket for floor seats, I want all 20+ songs on the set list to be songs that I love and can sing along to.

Complete opposite for me. I'd pay good money to see/hear new material. In fact, I'm not sure I'd pay again to go and see them without new songs (at least, not for high price tickets). Sadly they probably won't play more than 5 new songs.

Agreed, I wouldn't go to see them again without N-E-W music, unless it was a last tour...

That's why I didn't see them on their last tour ( No new music) It was the first tour I missed since 1978.

Five new songs? That's way too many. I was thinking if they have to play new songs live, there should be no more than three.

For a future tour for me, I'd want a couple of brand new songs mixed in with the greatest hits, but would especially like to see more deep cuts. I'd really love to see Angel, The Ledge, Brown Eyes, IDWTK, etc.

I would wait to hear these new songs before deciding how many or few we want to see live! They could be amazing! :thumbsup:

yup - Sad Angel was a highlight of 2013 tour and made it so much less stale! and many reviews commented how surprisingly everyone upfront knew all the words and sang the whole completely new - and at first even unreleased - song with the band.

that said, when did the thread about the possibility of the new album become yet another discussion about who wants to hear what songs on tour?? :rolleyes:

if they are supporting new album, FM usually play about 6 new songs.
if you don't want to hear new songs just same ole hits, don't go - you had last 20-40 years of tours and countless DVDs with all those same songs instead.

Of course I would love to hear new material. But I rather hear the songs they rarely do live or never did live before on older albums. I know that wont happen. Most of us on this board are true fans that appreciate those songs. But sadly most people in the concert hall run to the bathroom during the best songs live. I would love to hear old Christine songs (pre-Stevie and Lindsey) live but I know that is not going to happen :(

Yes, I've skipped concerts from bands I enjoy for lack of change in the set list from previous tours. I like hearing new stuff, provided the new stuff is good, but I don't have concern that these guys will have enough good enough material to play live.

That's what was so great about the Say You Will Tour. All those new songs that were played.I'm glad that the " Greatest hits Tour" is out of the way......... it's time for a tour to promote a new album.

Unless the album comes out after the tour has started (which absurdly happened with Lindsey's tour), you'll have ample time to learn the new songs, love them and sing along to them.

I was thinking about all the songs that Lindsey and Christine have already recorded and whatever Stevie will be contributing I'm really expecting a 21 track release. I hope its sequenced like Tusk. I love the way it was done. You have a nice balance to start the album of all three singers. Then it's Heavy with Lindsey and Stevie tunes and then after nine tracks Christine returns and then the album closes with the same kind of balance it opened with.

If they go out on tour again without an album of new songs (or at least an EP) I will swear off them for good.

No you won't. Too late. Same for me. We are going to suffer with them until it is over.
