barb – a wonderful pal, most folks wouldn’t tolerate me for an entire decade – integrity personified

bn – my partner in crime and wit for many years, lost touch, I trust and truly hope he is very well

chili – legendary

david – was always comforted that there were others who had a plain, common member name like mine

hayley – quite a head (red) on those shoulders, took time to get on her good side & hope i’ve remained so

james kirk – fellow canuck who first exposed me to a very clear LP> cassette recording of buck/nicks A+

john b – aka, joe – showed me the ropes, do’s & donts of the net…more dont’s than do’s were retained

johnny stew – always the voice of reason

julie k – truly kind brit/scot gal who is hopefully just too busy with work, fun and theatre to keep in touch

patti – a true delight, i would bet she is making somebody giggle this very moment

phil – many laughs exchanged and everyone seemed to enjoy his clever FM music medley quizzes

regina – i remember her arrival on the scene and the constant clarification of how to pronounce her name ;)

sarah – common name but I’m referring to one of the younger members at the time, a very intriguing mind

shane – another survivor and valued member – is any of that late 90’s stuff archived? (polls, pics, etc?)

stephanie – an appreciator of music, diverse taste, big bodean fan, stunning, heart always pumping to the beat

villavic – man of the world. always loved your photos and reading bn and villavic banter over the years

Vianna – my 1st internet acquaintance some dozen yrs ago – when I e-mailed that first time I was nervous, she responded with nothing less than kindness and generosity, her smiling photo is now, truly, a treasure

V was a dedicated teacher for decades, she loved the beach boys, loved to share good music, loved cats

i wasn’t sure if her e-mail was “vcatlvr27” because there were 26 others who had a similar addy, or because she had cared for 27 cats…back in 2000 i was down in NH and thought of detouring to VA and taking her by surprise…regretfully, i never followed that idea through…may peace be with you, V…eternal hugs, jim

Hello everyone. I am back now, and also have been on the boards since the mid 90s!

BOY have the times changed! Anywho I remember that sh*tasss James from Yonkers. What a slimy sleezeball. He posted all over, I think those aol boards too always selling anything and everything. I remember he was front row for Stevie's Jones Beach Enchanted 98 show. He was lucky enough that Stevie's what bass player I think, randomly asked him his name and he had Landslide dedicated. He started bragging about it on the boards, then everyone complained "If Stevie only knew what you really did with her music".

I am glad the times have changed, and he no longer has outlets to make money off of bootlegs. He never got a dime from me!

All of you young kids lol are lucky today. You turn your computer on and waaa laaa within a second you have every Stevie/Fmac video or anything they ever did all over youtube. We did not have any of that in the 90s. The only thing we kind of did have on the net was a website called TheQueenOfRock.com or something. They had most of the Stevie basic MTV videos up. But with slow connection speeds, there was no high speed internet back then, it could take an hour or more to download one video to watch.

I remember even before the internet. The only way to get rare videos, was to order bootleg catalogs from the back of the classified section in Rolling Stone Magazine, or go to some trade show. I went on a huge video store search all around town and found copies of the Mirage and Tusk shows. After renting them, I could not make copies with my vcr's because the tapes had some magentic strip or some crap that kept making the new copies dark. So I begged and begged the video store manager and they sold me the videos. This was before ebay, and the tapes had been out of print since the 80s. I felt like I had a goldmine in my hands at the time :).

As it has been stated already, there were no instant demo mp3's you just click and throw into your Ipod back then, like there is now. In the old days, you made friends on the net and set up snail mail trades. I would go buy blank cassette tapes, and use my old boom box to make copies of shows/demos and mail them out lol. Then, within a week I would go to the damn mailbox everyday with my hopes UP! Finally the day comes where you get that package in the mail and you get all excited with the treasures you would get!

I also enjoyed the excitement you got when you emailed Ginny Karmano before she went crazy. For those of you who do not know her she answered all of Stevie's fan mail in the 80s. By the mid 90s she had a website and you could email her Stevie questions. Sometimes, she would get back to you. I will never forgot the excitement that overtook my body when I would get a Stevie reply from her! I felt like an insider lol, at such a young age.

I remember the queen of rock site! That was the best site for video and interview clips in the pre-youtube, pre-high speed internet days! I think that site has been closed since 2000 or maybe 2001. It actually had some cool clips that are a little bit harder to find on youtube...especially the australian radio program that played the tusk album and interviewed the band the whole time as well.

I remember, I was all of 13 or 14 and my parents had a 28kb dial up modem. It would take forever for that five minute video or audio clip to buffer on realplayer! Ahh those were the days!!!!!

It's kind of sad, the amount of big resourceful sites that have gone by the wayside. Sararhiannon.com had the largest photo archive and I don't believe anyone else has had the same archive to this day. Today you would be forever tracking down half the photos she had on that site, not to mention the massive trade list and demo lyrics. Since most of the trading sites kind of went away with the onset of high speed, it's hard to grasp a sense of what has been taped and what hasn't or what's available and what's not! Especially with the newer fleetwood mac tours etc.

Tracy at Burnish.net is sadly missed as well!! Add stevienicks-info on the list too!

oh so sad- I just had no idea. I was pregnant that summer and didn't get on much and never knew she was even ill. She was so helpful with my LB site and so sweet. Very sad indeed.

Wow, it's been a long time. I always mean to come here (the ledge) but time passes, and....well, yeah it's been a while. Still a big FM fan, although I kind of "overlistened" to them for a while. But will always love them.

not that many of us traders still around, with the increase in torrent sharing trading tapes/cd's has become less popular than it once was.

I've tried to keep track on what has been in circulation the past few tours (ie - Stevie & Linds' solo tours and the SYW tour 2003-2004), but it does get time consuming after awhile - but I will be at it again come March.


RIP Vianna, you are truly missed! I remember PM conversations with her when Debbie was battling cancer in late 2003/early 2004 - Her words of wisdom helped me out during that time.

Well, I think he got a boyfriend, for one thing. :) I also remember hearing something about one or both of his parents not being in good health.

He's still listed as a moderator and I've seen occasional posts from him, but nowhere near as much as he used to.

Hey Regina! I remember you from years ago (probably 10 years or so now, as I joined during The Dance, senior year of high school). You traded (actually 2 for 1) with me for stuff back then. I can't remember what it was, maybe some old cassettes of Stevie/Jim Ladd interviews? Perhaps even some videos. I wish I could remember what they were exactly but after a decade stuff like that seems to slip from memory! Some of the videos I aqcuired back then were the Tusk Doc, Mirage Tour, and Disney's Going Home. I'm pretty sure I got those from Marty and Liz themselves back when they used to have the trade page with tons of videos and cassettes that you could buy. That was really nice, but it seems like a lot of people got upset over it (bootlegging) and Marty decided to do away with it. Between you and Marty/Liz, that's how my collection of rarities got started. So thanks!

I love seeing the names of the old ledgies and reminiscing on the days of the "Old Ledge." I never posted much back then (and still really don't) so most people have no idea who I am, but either way it's always fun to talk albout the past!

I used to lurk on that site as well and really enjoyed it. From what I recall there was a lot of drama on the message board (I know, right?) and one day she just said, literally, "I've had enough" and it ended. I would check months later to see if she had opened the boards back up yet, but it never happened and then I think the site eventually disappeared for good.

my pleasure, it was therapeutic actually...i felt like we 'fogies' were briefly reunited at a funeral home and chatting about old friends...when i got news of V's passing it hit me with a reality that was somehow tangiable for the first time since getting online with dialup on AOL canada, eons ago...it made me realize all those former chats and exchanges were with real people, friends, not just digital connections, these were people, not just 1's and 0's...

...hey, good to 'see' you around, Lauren (your pic at your website is gone, actually the whole darned thing is gone!)...now my hesitant question (and i sure hope all worked out fine and healthy!) = you mentioned being pregnant in 08, do you have a wee one now and if so, that brings some wonderful JOY to this thread ie. ok, this is what i dropped by to ponder out loud - where i've gone to school they quite often would name academic rewards (or for just being a wonderful, congenial student) for long serving teachers who had passed...i do know where V taught and might follow that up...luke, by chance did you live near her/her school? if something like that was done that would make me feel, well hard to articulate but let's say pretty much the opposite of last week, it would be truly uplifting:angel:

I was on Ledge only in 2007 but many names are friendly for me because I think to had many trades in the 90th,I was a mamber of many fanzine,I live in Italy and I'm a Stevie/Mac fan from 1990 year it was so hard for me here in Italy find anything so I remember with happy the year where for have any information I must write "normal" letter because computer not existed yet,it was lovely years for because many fan were so kind with me.

I had a dial-up computer and answering those 40 question polls took me hours because AOL would knock me off right in the middle of it. It became a personal challenge to see if I could get through those things, no matter how many attempts I had to make. And it never helped that I was (yeah, like that's in the past tense) such a windbag, either.

I've only lurked here for a few years, and I'm sure it's similar now and connections are made, but a few of us really did become very good friends and have remained that way for years. So, it's nice that this place brought all of us together.

And sharing that stuff--scratchy old recordings on audio tapes, and looking at them as if they were gifts from heaven--those WERE the days!

Hey, Brad! I remember Marty and Lis' list, too. I was unemployed at the time and money was SO tight. I had just put in my first order and had a whole other one waiting...and the list went poof! I was so disappointed. But, that's what started the trading thing. So many people were so incredibly generous, it's amazing.

My website is still up as far as I know? The LB one right? I checked it last week although I never have time to update it and should just take it down. I was pregnant in 05 (did I post the wrong year? I remember having Stevie Nicks tickets to Red Rocks and had to sell them that night- it was 105 degrees on the rocks and I couldn't sit out there being pregnant, was so upset!) Anyway, I have a three year old little boy whose a total joy-and a handful- LOL! Hey, I am trying to get him to like Lindsey and FM. So far he just tells me to turn off GYOW when I play it- "lower mommy"! But he loves to dance and does love music.

Wow! I was just reading all these posts -- I used to post (on and off) to the Ledge back in the late 90s or so, back when I was in college and I had a lot of time and money to spend on FM bootlegs and stuff.... I doubt anyone remembers me; I didn't get to go to any of the FM concerts, but I did see Stevie a few times....

I remember Vianna; she traded some Christine McVie videos with me back in the 90s -- sorry to hear about her.... And I remember a Laura from California (not sure if she's the same one everyone's talking about) who used to trade all kinds of videos and tapes with me. There were a lot of people I can't recall offhand who were nice enough to trade stuff with me.... :-) (Unfortunately, the trading had to stop when my parents found out about all the packages I was getting in the mail and how much money I was spending on this stuff -- my dad thought I was going to get arrested and all that....)

But anyway, I do post occasionally on the Christine McVie board, and I do a lot of lurking..... :shocked: And I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who traded with me and kept me in the loop.....
