Michele

I feel exactly the same way.

A concert is a fleeting moment in time. I can listen to an album over and over. Also, although I have never seen the band live, I have heard all the songs in the set list hundreds of times already (on CD or concert DVDs). An album is new and exciting.

Elle did not take the thread title as fact. You read too much into my words. All it takes is one click and after one second you know that the thread title is not a quote from a band member.

I'm not reading anything into it that's not there. It is a statement. It's not "I think there will never be..." or "why I think there will never be". It is "There will never be a new FM Album". I never know when someone's going to come up with a new interview where they say "doesn't look like a new album is going to happen". I don't think that will happen, but you never know. Quite frankly, I don't care why you think there will never be an album because you have no insight into the band. Therefore, enticing me to click on your thread is a slight annoyance. I wouldn't have said anything except to defend those that did and you telling them they're idiots.

They can have a very short tour after the album release. 10 cities. Just release some new music. Stevie stop being such a buzzkill all ready. She's ruining for me what would have been a really magical time.

I firmly believe there will be one last album from the band. This whole process of airing dirty laundry and public insinuations is classic, classic Fleetwood Mac. These kids have been drama queens since day one. 40+ years on, they're even more stubborn due to all the years of money, fame, power, and now they're old curmudgeons on top of all that. Of course recording an album wouldn't be easy or drama free. All the same, I don't think a one of them wants to close the book on the band without one last album. If the Eagles could pull it off, so can these guys. Not just that- since the Eagles put out one final album, you know the Mac will follow suit. This is why Christine came back, after all- so the band could put a nice neat bow on their history.

I SO agree with your last sentence.IMO,Chris didn't just randomly come back to this band after 15 - 16 years, there is a reason for it.After she made that guest appearance last year she said it was fun,she did not cry or get goosebumps, and she didn't feel one iota of envy. Now all of a sudden it's like "I wanna thank these guys for giving me a second chance". I'm like "oh please".This was all SO totally planned for a while.Maybe Stevie managed to "scrape" up that 5 million:rolleyes:.

Well she didn't fake her fear of flying and then fake get over it. She couldn't have planned it for a long time or been lured by money (after 15 years of retirement at the age of 70 she gets hungry for some money? I don't think so). Also if it was all planned it would've been timed better rather than right on the back of their previous tour.

I think people need to remember that Christine's retirement in 1998 was part of a long goodbye that took about seven years. Christine quit touring in 1990, after the "Behind The Mask" tour, and her songs on "Time" made it very clear that she was done with Fleetwood Mac. "The Dance" was really her way of going out on top. She's even said recently that she did that tour with the understanding that it was going to be her last tour.

The first hint that she might be interested in coming out of retirement was in March, 2012, when Ken Caillat reported that Christine said his book "brought passion back into the music for her," and almost two years to the day later, they were on the Today Show officially announcing Christine's return.

She never said she didn't feel one iota of envy or nostalgia or longing. After she made the guest appearance in Hawaii, the next thing we knew she was saying she'd play London if they asked her. After London, she was with them the rest of the European tour, so it seems pretty clear to me that she was thinking about this ALL last year. She'd been slowly rejoining them for most of the year.

After she saw them for the SYW tour, that's when she said she didn't feel any envy. She said they were all knackered or fagged or something and she was glad she was way from it at all, but ever since she flew to Hawaii and then had dinner with them in Los Angeles and hinted about joining them in London, she's been making her interest in coming back clear. And no, it didn't happen overnight. She's probably been taking baby steps for 2 years. It probably has more to do with her psychological well-being than her need for money. Michele

Some thoughts I want to share with the Ledgies giving me a hard time:

I would change the thread title if I could! It did not seem like a big deal when I wrote it, it is a big deal now but I am unable to change it.

In my defence:

If it is only a "slight annoyance", please, could you give me a "slight" scolding? The world hasn't caved in: there is still a chance of a new Fleetwood Mac album.

Remember when Mick Fleetwood himself said in a 2012 Playboy magazine interview that Fleetwood Mac would never tour again?

That was much more than a "slight annoyance". For fans including myself, it was tragic news. It also turned out to be false and led to Stevie Nicks confirming that there would be another Fleetwood Mac tour Live 2013 on Loose Women in July 2012, four months before the dates were announced!

Some Ledgies can be a touch too precious. It takes one minute to read my full post in its entirety.

Fans waited for two months (from memory) after Mick's Playboy interview in which he stated as a fact that his band would never tour again [for this to be corrected by his colleague Stevie Nicks].

Presumably the founder of the band's word carries more weight than some stranger on the Internet who you have never met, yes?

Common sense is all but common these days.

Clearly, THAT didn't work out for him....

Mick's Playboy interview: March 16, 2012

Ken Caillat's quote about his book restoring Christine's passion for the music: March 29, 2012

Fleetwood Mac: Still going.

 Very true! Granted, he said Fleetwood Mac would never tour again thinking he was right, but hoping to God he was wrong.

In fact, that's precisely how I feel about a new studio album by Fleetwood Mac. My brain doesn't think it will ever happen, but my heart hopes that the head's wrong.

Why such unnecessary cynicism? Christine clearly and honestly explained why she left, and her reasons for returning to the band. What is the issue that incites such indignation?

Agreed. Christine has explained on the public record that she left the band due to a dislike of touring and a fear of flying. She also publicly explained that with the help of a therapist, she has finally overcome her fear of flying and is enjoying touring again for the first time in years.

Personally I took Christine at her word. She doesn't have any reason to lie about why she left the band and why she returned. I don't understand the conspiracy theories.

They would never stoop that level, just throwing away all of their integrity. The reality show should feature a bunch of disparate Ledgies gathered together; that's where drama will take place.
