seems that m&g is basically the same as last year, except with added 1 hr time-waste upfront and extra pic/drumhead. one can now appreciate grndctrl for having a bit more respect for people's time than this year's organizer.
while i completely agree with you about autographs and memorabilia, if you followed what has been happening with Mac concert tickets the last 2 tours, you would know that most people are not going to these m&gs to meet Mick or get his autograph, but as the only surefire way to get some amazing tickets for prices cheaper than scalper or platinums. the added bonus is they get to ask Mick a few questions about the band that all of us want to know answers to. and to stand on the FM stage in some huge arena.
but yes, when Mick said in a recent interview how he made a million last year just from m&gs (so he will probably make 2 this year!), i was thinking how much of that money should really go to either LB or SN (and this year i'd think also CM). i know tons of LB fans who paid those crazy prices, and not just once - both last year and this - just so they can be close to the stage and get to experience LB in concert same as SadAngel did (see some of her quotes below). she said it was one of the best evenings in her life! that's what she probably paid for, not to meet Mick - and LB is practically gifting that money to Mick. maybe he can sign it off as charity at the end of the year. :lol:

First of all, you're welcome about the thorough reviews. It seemed like no one was posting about the M&G's and I knew some on here were dying to know. I still might post about Thursday.
In all honesty, I don't think the hour+ wait time was planned by Future Beat. I don't have other M&G's to compare it too. I think it was just an added inconvenience to how disorganized I felt they were. Also on the UC staff part, like geez put up some signs for parking and make sure the Will Call window has a sign somewhere too!
You're right, I did buy the VIP's to get those totally awesome seats, but I also did want to meet Mick because I never had before and it was more of a treat for my mom since she grew up with them. The actual added bonus for me was having someone I had only met a few minutes before house lights went down, grab my arm and bring me in front of his microphone, just because she knew he was my favorite, and well because she also knew that I knew you, elle!
And to have her singing along with me at the front as well as getting Lin's attention, and getting to witness his amazing guitar playing was just icing on the cake. Some of the pics and vids I got are just amazing, stuff I never would have gotten from the second row. I actually had some printed and enlarged to 8x10's so in case I meet him he can sign them for me!
It was a night I won't soon forget. |
