thankyou desertangel...fantastic! Ohwell is a special treat and I never tire of ISA...TESTOSTERONE>>>>Stevie gets pouty when she isn't the center of attention...shouldn't we all know that by now? I'm not so sure she will be getting any 'happier' as this tour moves along. IMO, both Stevie and Lindsey would be better off with their solo gigs...they both seem to enjoy that A LOT.

I agree with everyone else about Sisters. I'd **** twice and die if they did it live.

Yup she sang that line to perfection. Glad to see she still has it.

That part made me cringe. :sorry: I don't like it when she oversings parts like that - IMO she sounds so nasally. The rest of the song was pretty sweet, though.
Somebody should tell Stevie that when she shouts, it doesn't always sound that great. Same with Lindsey - he likes to sing some parts really slow and quiet, which works sometimes, but not all the time.

But the last minute of Oh Well was on fiaaaahhhhh!

Yeah she definitely has a problem with projecting too much. You can totally see she realized that while singing the first few lines of Sara for her Soundstage. She took it down a few notches, and sang beautifully. Storms was good when she wasn't belting. But it wasn't too pretty when she did :sorry: .

Hejira & I posted about this recently - belting vs. soft & whispery. ITA with your opinion on Storms. I wanted to love it, buit I don't. :sorry: I like the lower parts a lot: "I did not deal with the road" and "though the love has always been" but the higher notes were painful. I actually cringed at "did I ever really care that much." I'm so disappointed. :distress: And I'm truly upset that I AM disappointed, because I wanted to love it.

I'll bet that with Storms, Beautiful Child was put to rest. I couldn't see Stevie doing two relatively unknowns from Tusk in one set. /QUOTE]

Exactly.

I think they can drop Dreams (even though they wont), Gypsy (am I the only one that doesnt think this song is that good live anymore?), Second Hand News and World Turning and throw in more stuff from Tango (besides Big Love) and Say You Will. I missed not hearing Come and I really wish they could have found a way to do Thrown Down or Everybody Finds Out just once. I know greedy greedy!

No, you;'re not alone. I don't think Gypsy translates well at all. But casual fans won't care, they'll be happy to hear it even if it's not great.

Seriously. She needs to sing Storms like she sang "Say Goodbye on the last tour.

I'd be willing to bet Storms really comes into its own as the tour progresses. She has never sung this in front of an audience before and I'll guarantee she had some nerves. I agree about the high parts being a bit much, but I was there, and it really translated well. I didn't see it as lull in the show where the whole thing fell apart. People were pretty transfixed on watching them perform this great old tune.

Gypsy was a clunker and it's been a clunker always on stage. The Dance DVD version was alright, and the Mirage Tour video version is classic in its own way, but neither of them, nor any version I've ever heard, have ever lived up to the magic that the studio version has. That truly was and is perfection.

My biggest disappointment (performance wise) last night was honestly Go Your Own Way. This is my favorite song of theirs and probably favorite song of anyone. I love it. I've loved every version and listening to the subtle changes through the years. Last night I just found it very blah to listen to. NOT the solo, but the verses. The solo is legendary as always, but the verses seemed to be arranged exactly like Lindsey's solo tours. I don't know how to explain it, but listen to a 2007 LB solo version and then a version from the SYW tour. Generally with the Mac, the song seemed meatier, heavier...something. The same with I'm So Afraid and Tusk...I just wasn't altogether too thrilled with the LB solo tour-ification of these songs.

What are people putting in for keywords & titles on Youtube? If you do a general search, you can't find the vids. I tried Fleetwood Mac, Fleetwood Mac Live,
Fleetwood Mac Pittsburgh, Fleetwood Mac 2009, etc. Nothing. If you want more hits on your vids, you gotta put plenty of info in the description. :wavey:

I found Don't Stop. Painful to my ears, and I don't mind the SYW versions.

Thank you for this perspective. I really enjoy and appreciate the demeanor with which your entire post is presented.

It's easy to jump the gun and wonder if that side of her voice is gone due to nose damage, and that she's doing the very best she can with what she still has. But then you remember things like 'Say Goodbye' (or the tone she achieves when, say, doing the 'Sorcerer' yodel) and you know she's still got it. I am one who mostly tends to defend Stevie, but I do definitely wish she would vary her tone more like she used to, granted that we know she IS still capable of it.

I could not agree with you more on every point. 'Gypsy' has NEVER been a knockout live, IMO.

I'd really like to see/hear SYLM from that show... but can't find it :distress:

Is it up somewhere? *hopes*

skcin 03-02-2009 02:21 PM

^ Me too, but I haven't found it yet either. Doesn't seem to be much on Youtube yet. Hopefully someone got the full show on DVD & the boot will start circulating soon.
