I not a Chiffonhead, my dear, but Storms is greatness. La Nicks' best song.

But I still want Save Me A Place to win (laugh if you must!). I've still never gotten over Le Stew's comment that Save Me A Place was "musical sludge." People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
Storm's is just soooooo slow and plodding................................sorry, I fell asleep thinking about it.
I love Save Me A Place, and That's All For Everyone.
And speaking of sludge, Beautiful Child just bores the **** out of me, too. :sorry:JMO

Round 1

Buh bye Honey Hi

Cristian 08-15-2004 12:41 PM

Buh... these Stevie/Lindsey fans will make this a Stevie/Lindsey survivor pretty soon, although they should know that the best song in this album belongs to mrs. McVie. Oh well...

worst song of the bunch:

That's All For Everyone

Then I'll go for that Lindsey song he wrote and recorded twice with a different title.

Destroy That's All For Everyone!

I like all of Stevie's Tusk songs. Sara gets on my nerves a lot, but I love the others. :D

I don't really like any of Chris' Tusk songs, but Brown Eyes better make it to the final three. ;) My final three would be Save Me A Place, Brown Eyes, and Storms, but no one ever accused me of being a realist.

Hawkeye 08-15-2004 01:45 PM

Heh Cistine had the final 2 songs in Tango in the Night, there is clearly no prejudice here.

And I'll be voting out Sara but only when Save Me a Place is gone

I noticed about 100 busted windows in your house. ;)

Sorry. "Save Me A Place" IS musical sludge.

"Don't know why I have to woo-ork.
Don't know why I ca-an't plaa-ay.
Turn me off, turn me ou-out,
But do-on't tu-urn me a-wa-ay.
Saaaaaaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaaaave.... me a plaa-ace.
I'll come runnin', if you loooooooooooooooo-oooooooove me todaaa-aay...."

*yawn*

Other than the harmonies, there's absolutely nothing of any interest going on in the song. It's about as interesting as watching molasses roll up a hill in June.

"Sara" is an alchemic masterpiece of beautiful lyrics, lilting vocals and sublime instrumentation.
"Save Me A Place" is just sludge.

(Oh, and a boo and a hiss to those voting against "That's All For Everyone." :( )

I'd beg to differ. ;)

With Sara, there is just too much going on. SMAP is so simple yet so profound. That's what makes it a masterpiece, in my opinion. Maybe if Sara was a little more stripped down, it would have the same effect.

Whoa! This one will be hard for me as Tusk is my favorite FM album. My vote goes to Honey Hi...never got into that one too much. It's killing me to see all the votes for Save Me A Place and Sara.

Chiffon Patrol here....PUT THE STORMS DOWN!!! I REPEAT, PUT IT DOWN!!! That's one of my faves, and i figured out a kick ass harmony to it, which is not as easy when Stevie's singin'

By the way, the more polite name than "most boring song ever" for Sara is "Stevie's Quaalude Song" tsk, tsk...

Stripped-down is fine, but pacing is everything. And the pacing of "Save Me A Place" is horrendous. I can't get through it. It makes me want to stick my head in an oven. Or slit my wrists. Or get a root-canal. Or watch paint dry.

Even though "Sara," "Storms" and "Beautiful Child" are all slow songs, at least they're paced well.
Same with "That's All For Everyone"... which I LOVE. It's simple, it's stripped down, it's slow, but it has great pacing, and... most importantly... it's INTERESTING.

Christine's much-maligned 'Tusk' offerings are far and above better than "Save Me A Place." It's the only clunker on the entire album, in my opinion. In fact, I think it's my least-favorite Lindsey song. Period.

Oh, did you catch the June-Uphill-Molasses-Run this season? It was great, no? That molasses from Vermont was really dominant - but of course that's to be expected  :p
