I'd like to think that sometimes there is(The Beatles) and sometimes there's not(Britney Spears). But then again who am I to say what another man's "art" is? What's one man's "art" is another man's "fart", and vice versa. It's all very subjective my friend. :)

But then what's it say about "Go Your Own Way," "Tusk," "Trouble," "Go Insane" and "Big Love"?

How about all of the hit-albums and hit-singles (including those by John Stewart and Walter Egan) that Lindsey has produced/co-produced?

How about the credit Christine so often gets (and so rightly deserves) for having the most hit singles out of all the writers in Fleetwood Mac?

Are they not still good songs and good albums simply because they were also successful sellers?

Or is that argument only used to negate Stevie's accomplishments? ;)

I think we're ALL very happy for our favorite member when they have a success (I remember how quickly CarneVaca pointed out that "Peacekeeper" did better on the charts than "Say You Will" did), and I think we all enjoy basking in that a little.

So let's not deride anyone for something that we're all guilty of. :D

Very true, BUT, don't you see that my point was that they were bragging about Stevie's gold records, and implying that that made her better? That's what irks my goat.

Yes I do see your point, and I don't believe that someone's sales necessarily makes them a better artist. I was just responding to your statement that "there is no correlation between art and sales", which is what I disagreed with. :wavey:

The original post you were initially responding to was Jason's, and it was obviously meant to be tongue-in-cheek, given all of the smilies and kissies and winkies he included in it.

Not to mention the fact that he was the one who just voted to give "Save Me A Place" immunity not more than one round ago. ;)

Not after this round has been going on for so long.

Round 8

WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU'RE THE ONE

golden braid 08-24-2004 10:46 PM

My pick for this round is Over and Over.

EnchantedSLN 08-24-2004 11:20 PM

That's Enough For Me.

It's ok, but IMO the weakest of Lindsey's songs on Tusk.
