When you listen to Carrboro duo Veelee, you hear music inspired by a wide range of sources. For band mates Matt Park and Ginger Wagg, elements of music from bands such as Young People, Low, Lungfish, Stereolab and Pram went into creating Veelee’s unique sound. Also, according to Matt, Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 hit “Dream” has also served as a major influence on the way he and Ginger create music — everything happening in the song goes hand in hand its unchanging baseline.

Kamtin Mohager: MGMT is a band whose style I love—just T-shirts, jeans, and boots. You can tell when a band is being authentic or when there’s someone in an office telling them to dress a certain way. I’m obsessed with looking at photos of Fleetwood Mac. There is just something about them—we’re doing what we want to do, this is it, take it for what it is. I also love the way Tears For Fears dressed in cardigans. It was natural. If it wasn’t for a band like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, I may not have wanted to wear all black with a leather jacket. But at the same time, that style is just a T-shirt, jeans, a jacket, and shoes. It speaks for itself and represents the music.

As if this song isn’t amazing enough, Fleetwood Mac had to go ahead and put themselves in a situation that we just assumed they were experiencing on a day-to-day basis: excavating ruined instruments and
painting Magritte replicas that come to life in a desert mirage. Alto temptress Christine McVie is prominently featured as the “woman looking through a telescope and sometimes through a mirror” and Stevie is just lounging off in the distance, probably pissed because Christine is getting all the attention for once. And to hammer in all of those allusions, this is from the album Mirage.

You do a really good remake of Fleetwood Mac’s classic “The Chain” what made you guys decide to do this song?


We originally; which is funny since we go “not glam not glam not glam.” We originally were going to do a W.A.S.P. cover cause they not glam but they dress like jerk offs, which is great. F*** like a Beast is what we were going to do but it was only going to be allowed to be released in Japan and all this s***. It’s the best song on their first record and nobody has got to hear it. We were like “s*** we are going to do this we do a righteous cover it.” But our produce, who is Mr. 80’s he loves all of that awesome guitar rock from the 80’s big arena rock, wasn’t digging it. We were like “really?” he’s all about scorpions all about the Ozzy area. He was just not digging on this one so we were just going through the iTunes. I didn’t want to use one of the other songs that we had that we were saving for the second record … that’s very presumptuous. Mike was like right away how about “The Chain.” Everybody loves all kinds of music cannibal corpse fans get down to Fleetwood Mac every bit as much as Fleetwood Mac fans get down to DIO. Everybody’s all over the place we rock Eminem and Lady Gaga all day long. Good music is good music. S*** music can sometimes be great music too.

Fleetwood Max was formed in 2006 by Todd Hidden (as Lindsay Buckingham) and Annie Heller (ersatz Christine McVie). “Everyone seems to love Fleetwood Mac,” says Heller. “Visually, we try to emulate the look of The Dance years, which is mostly black and white. Our Stevie, Kim Enering, buys special clothing custom-made to look like Stevie Nicks’ best-known outfits, and she does a great job with the Stevie-isms.”

As for musicality, “We try to get close to note-for-note recreations of the studio or the live versions of the songs. We only have five members playing four instruments, however, and we don’t use any sequencers or karaoke tracks.” Who knew tribute bands were using karaoke tracks?

Heller isn’t married, but the 50-year-old grade-school teacher is dating the band’s other McVie impersonator (John McVie), bassist Doug Walker (47), a remodeling contractor by day. “My two daughters think it’s cool that their mom is in a band,” says Heller. “When my youngest came to see us at the San Diego Fair this year, she was very impressed…she wondered how I was able to get up in front of people and sing and play without being nervous.”

Drummer Hector Toro (50) works as an appraiser in coastal North County and is married with two children. “My kids have grown up with me in bands,” he says. “They like our shows when they end up on YouTube. What they can see on the computer, that’s what impresses them.”

Guitarist Todd Hidden (54) is a full-time musician who also plays with Dave Humphries, StreetHeart, and the Cool Rays. The group’s youngest member, singer and shawl-bearer Kim Enering (mid-’30s), is unmarried, with two young children; by day, she works as an inland North County real-estate agent.

Nobody in Max has met their Mac, though Heller says, “We hear they show up once in a while to catch a tribute band. If I ever met Christie McVie, I would tell her how much I admire her songwriting and what a beautiful voice she has.”

Says Todd Hidden, “I’d ask Lindsey Buckingham if he needs a guitar tech. And could I take a few lessons?”

More than files than ever

Ever since my mother heard the band Fleetwood mac sing at one of their concerts on TV, she fell in love with the band. Their songs had great lyrics and sounds, that trigger emotions and feelings, and even reminisce the past. She had all their albums, and still she downloads music videos and music files in the internet.

Since my mom was really into downloading songs of Fleetwood mac, I decided to show her the site where I get all the cool downloads from. I logged her into TorrentReactor.net, and after searching for mac, we provided with the list of torrents containing the word mac, and after finding what she was looking for, we Download mac with best – TorrrentReactor engine, and in a few minutes, my mom has downloaded more files than she ever had. And since we still had time to spare, I told her to “ Check it! last torrent of the month are the most popular and in demand torrents, she might find something to download there.

Look I don’t have a problem if a band continues with their core playing their music for what seems like forever (IE: The Rolling Stones) or if a band reinvents themselves with a new singer or a new sound. Take for example (for us older folks) Fleetwood Mac. In the late 60’s and early 70’s Fleetwood Mac was a ballsy blues rock band with Peter Green leading the way but members left over time and Mick Fleetwood and John McVie took another direction with the band and added Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham creating a totally different band with a totally different sound and created a more successful band.

TRIPLE BEARDY THREAT! Who is the coolest? John McVie, obviously. I just like that they all have beards. Bands do that! And I ponder... Is it a mutual decision? "Yeah dude, let's all grow beards!" Or is it a gradual process? "Well so and so looks pretty cool... I think I'll grow myself a beard." And then one day, the beard leader just finds that all his bandmates have copied his look? If the latter is the case, then who started the beard trend in Fleetwood Mac? Again, I'm voting John McVie, but that's only because he seems cooler than Lindsey "I strangle Stevie Nicks" Buckingham and Mick "I always have a crazy look in my eye" Fleetwood.

The dvd of this show is great. And this song is more beautiful played live than on the lp. Stevie here is simply talented, beautiful, amazing. I can’t stop looking at her.

Sex and drugs and rock and roll. Where do you think the saying comes from? It’s a lifestyle and Stevie wasn’t the only one who lived it. Seems like everyone wants to throw it in her face though. Enjoy her music, voice and beauty.

This is indeed one of Stevie’s best… Yes, she’s coked out, yes it’s from two different performances in L.A. (there’s a couple of really sloppy edits merging the two together…) But the finished product captures her at her peak. I know I’ll get flamed for this, but I kinda miss the coked out Stevie. I’m glad that she got off of the stuff, and she’s still with us today, but there was a fire in her performances from ‘81 thru ‘83 that will never come back again. “So we make our choices, indeed

I’ve seen some DVD’s around, but I think they are bootlegs, and the sound quality on the one I saw was inferior.

Many DVD’s are fake and sound worse even than the VHS release from the 80’s (where this comes from) the youtuber “wiredream” has this whole concert taken from laserdisc and the quality is the best ive seen.

PAUL RODGERS Says He Recently Jammed With A Couple Of His 'Heroes' - Feb. 11, 2010

Paul Rodgers is gearing up for BAD COMPANY's tour of the U.K. in April, but that's not the only thing Paul's been working on. The singer got to have a jam session with some big names in Hawaii.

"I recently jammed with a couple of heroes of mine — Mick Fleetwood and John McVie — when we were down in Maui, and that's not to say, 'Hey, let's get a band together,' or anything like that, but it's just fun to do these things and see where they take you, you know," he told VH1 Radio Networks' Dave Basner.

So if that music sounds really good, would Paul and the FLEETWOOD MAC guys form a supergroup and release an album? "Um…I don't know," he said. "The thing… what we did was just play a lot of blues, a lot of… I'm a big fan of Peter Green's FLEETWOOD MAC. I used to stand there in awe at places like The Marquee and blues clubs around England and listen to them singing so they're kind of my heroes and… who knows. We'll see."

Sis and her music: Billy Squire, Boston, Blondie, Led Zeppelin, Dire Straights, Moody Blues, none of these artists, NONE, held a candle to her true love, Fleetwood Mac AND especially, STEVIE NICKS!!! MY SISTER LOVED STEVIE NICKS, LOVE LOVE LOVE! I am guessing she probably loved Lindsay Buckingham, too...hell, he was hot in his day, right? So, Sis has an idol, Stevie Nicks, but I don't have one??? What's a little sister to do? I couldn't possibly choose the same idol that she had, I mean, that would have made me a copy-cat. I might want all things BIG SIS, but I am no carbon copy to anyone!
