1. all these songs were tracks that he was already working on without the band... they would have gone on the album whether Christine was there or not...the only thing that Christine's absence did was allow more tracks for him...she really wouldn't have done much musically other than add a cool harmony or some great hammond.... I mean really how often did you see her piano or keys get in the way of any of his stuff...

Hold Me is a great example of them playing off each other... but she never got in his way....

musically...especially live... i don't think they are a better band without her...

i will however agree that a few of his songs on SYW were the experimental stuff i like to see and was happy to hear him doing them....

I believe he missed her in that studio for a few reasons... one being Stevie... haha:laugh: (that was for you stew!)

The one thing I found strange, was that I don't recall Lindsey ever once saying he missed Christine. Perhaps he was trying to sell people on the idea of her not being there, but he only seemed to ever talk about all the great things they could do with her gone, as opposed to any comments about missing her contributions in the studio. I think Stevie was really the only one who vocally lamented Christine's absence from the recording sessions.

I hated TITN when it came out. HATED it. Granted I was only 19-ish so what did I know. :shrug: Seven Wonders had to grow on me. EVentually I loved the title song, but it took me awhile. I was very disappointed with this album at the time.

Honey..there is no "what if" about it. Buckingham/Nicks would have made it with or without FM. FM did not gain commercial or critical success until they brought in Buckingham/Nicks! No "if's ands or what if's about that fact!
They would have been playing some lounge in Vegas otherwise.

Hmmm, so why is it that neither Stevie or Lindsey sing on what was the break out single (Over My Head), which has a guitar part that could have easily been played by Bob Welch (compare it to the song "Heroes Are Hard To Find")? Now, go think about that one for a while.

I disagree, if you read Stevie's quotes about joining FMac she says something to the effect, "Wow we were riding around in an old car and they were picking us up in limos. I mean we had just joined a Fleetwood Mac!!" This was a big move for both parties... You are going to need to trust me on this on Widow....

Do you really have knowledge of FMac's whole history? or are you just pulling my chain.. either way i like it! Bob Welch, Christine, Mick and John were already touring with a lot of success. So much so that when they quit... their manager tried to put a fake FMac so he could still rake in the cash... They were touring more than Vegas, they were touring everywhere. Buckingham Nicks did not have anywhere near the success FMac was having at this same point..They were flopping Widow and FMac saved their careers. Go break out a book widow, speak to me in what really happened... and report back... on the double!!

I'm staying away from the age-old Peter Green vs. Buckingham Nicks argument, but I had to ask why people say that Lindsey and Stevie aren't singing on "Over My Head."
Ok, I'll admit that I don't hear Lindsey, but I absolutely hear Stevie. She's actually singing a high harmony, but she's definitely there.

Of course you know you're preaching to the choir as far as I'm concerned... while I might have a preference towards the Buckingham Nicks years, I love all eras of the band. For my money, they've all made their mark... to one degree or another... and all deserve credit for the fact that Fleetwood Mac still exists in 2006. :thumbsup:

See, I don't give anyone credit for making marks or "keeping the band going" because I feel it's irrelevant. It's a silly way of congratulating oneself on one's tastes or something. I don't really understand it.

A band records some songs & either I like them or I don't. I don't care who kept what going or what would have happened if or whatever else. Peter & Danny were great for aesthetic reasons, not sociological reasons ... & of course same for any of the other parts of Fleetwood Mac that were great. This is why I give MacDougall such a hard time all the time. He's always citing data--irrelevant numbers & historodemographics to indicate so & so. Or Homie, who, in a discussion of the artistry of the Bob Welch years, just drags in the sociology of bringing the band to America or keeping it going or some such other irrelevancy--irrelevant to aesthetics, to what actually got put on the album & what it sounds like.

Also Stevie's biggest fans: They credit her with gifting them with her songs or they credit her dad for being the paragon of all dads or her mom for being the kindest, gentlest soul that ever breathed Arizona air.

All this sociology goes in one of my ears & out the other!
