For the record -here she is beautiful and, to me, HOT for a woman half her age

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ixiechicks.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...stevie2004.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...andlindsey.jpg (this one has an awfully handsome man as the object of her (and apparently their) attention!!! )

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...nCostaRica.jpg

HEY - - who is that handsome guy  (Just when you thought it was safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D - Actually, this is the pic I have on my fridge to remind me that my worst days of being porcine are over!!!!!!! )

In the end, I and everyone here knows La Nicks was heavier and she went through a very tough time. I just think deriving pleasure from kicking someone when they are down is rude. People here clearly do that and they also clearly like to make fun of her because they think it is funny to goad a reaction out of people who really like La Nicks. I think like Goldie said, no one wants to be judged by their worst moments  Furthermore, I am in no position to say for sure what people think or how they should act, I can only say how I feel and everyone else should play it the way they feel it

I laughed when I added picture #639 onto my website, Stevie looks very stoned in the picture

Oh well, Here's two of my fave Stevie picts on my website (Excluding the pictures I have yet to list):

YES THAT IS!! Looks like its from the same night as that other one where she is in that dress lol

I have no problem with poking fun of pictures where any of the members of FM look odd--an odd expression, an odd outfit. Hell, with fashions changing as much as they have in the last 30 years, there are tons of those out there. You don't like the wigs or hairdos--that's fine. I'm not a fan of fried hair either.

I do have a problem with people acknowledging--on the first page of this thread--that some of Stevie's "bad" pictures were taken at one of the worst times in her life and then proceeding to make fun of the way the woman looked at that time. She went through rehab, was in massive pain every stinking day, had the guts to go out and try to perform after all of that, and then was completely humiliated by the press (and, I'm sure, a good portion of her fan base) because of her weight gain. All her years as a singer, songwriter and beautiful woman didn't seem to matter as much as her being heavy. That must have been real life-affirming. But, hey, Stevie--just think--some good came out of it because someone decades later can pull out a freaking picture and make a joke about snack cakes in your pocketbook and entertain everyone else.

You want to make fun of her dresses. Fine. Half of the time, I'll be there agreeing with you. It's just a dress. But these specific pictures are not funny to me because I have a feeling they are not at all funny to her.

Unlike non-showbiz folk, she doesn't have the luxury of tearing them up or hiding them. That's the price that is paid. But I think she deserves the respect of not having her FANS bring them out as a potential source of jokes.

There, I got that out of my system. Resume your frivolity.

Just so you know, I agree with you on that. I'm not laughing at any photos because of her weight gain. I think of that as a very sensitive subject and you'll never catch me ridiculing her for that in the least. I just think there were some bad outfits, bad hair days, bad expressions, and probably moments when she didn't realize anyone was taking a picture. I feel like I can laugh about those kinds of silly things, but not the weight gain.

Hey now, why not be shallow at times? :woohoo: I come to The Ledge to relax and take a break from all the schoolwork I should be doing. I enjoy mindless stuff from time to time. But, honestly, I don't know if your post was directed at me at all but I hope that I'm not offending you or other Stevie fans. I like to look at Stevie as a normal person (I have to keep reminding myself that she is or I'll convince myself that she is indeed a goddess  ), but I don't want to take that too far. It's all in good fun to me. I spend much more of my time gawking at the pictures of her I love (and there are more that I love than dislike, I must say).

Anyway, I also wanted to say, about Kate's pictures...I love all the ones you love and all of the ones you hate except the one with the huge cross and earrings that are tacky IMHO. I still like her hair brown in some pics, though. I'm a big fan of the other one you posted with the brown hair. And, by the way, your Master Shake banner rocks!

Also, Ryan, your new banner rocks, too.

Brian--I totally love the first Stevie pic you posted, with the red jacket and red lipstick. She's gorgeous there.

I have to agree. Somebody's gotta try harder, 'cause I thought he was cute in the ones that were posted on this thread. Of course, even in the bad pics, I'm still attracted to Stevie, so I guess there's no hope for me.

Nico 02-27-2005 12:15 AM

Quite true. The pic posted of Lindsey as a child was adorable. So he had buck (and unevenly spaced) teeth, big deal. He was still a cute skinny little boy.

And even though I did introduce myself as being a fan of Lindsey's music only and not thinking much about his looks, I admit with all the pics I've been seeing of him he is somewhat hot/gorgeous/really sexy. But I try not to focus on the older ones because that is quite an age difference and I feel a little uncomfortable.

But anyway, I'm all for a "Bad Lindsey Pics" thread and if I actually found a bunch I'd start it.

Not to sound sexist, but I imagine it's easier to find "bad" pics of famous women than of famous men, because we're so used to seeing the ladies with their hair immaculately styled and their makeup expertly applied.

So when they're dressed-down, it seems somehow shocking. Whereas the guys usually seem a little more "wash-n-go" and casual.

Of course, there are bad pics of male celebrities, too... mug shots of Paul Reubens and Nick Nolte come to mind!
But they seem more rare overall.

 No, no, you're not mistaken--that was me flirting with you that time. See, I guess I'm not a good person to be judging pictures in this thread, since I tend to focus on someone's sense of humor and personality in general before looks, unless someone is just so drop dead gorgeous that I can't help but be shallow! But who wouldn't be drawn to your words? Actually, I started a thread on the Lindsey Ledge and posted some unflattering photos because I was amazed at how he looks so different in some of them. He sometimes doesn't even look like Lindsey, which is just wierd. He had the chub face in some of them and that mystery mole  and also, his up and down weight (not serious, just fluctuating).

The man has an uncanny ability to look adorable and look like sh*t all at the same time. However, I don't like the majority of his Tusk era photos. He seems way too thin, unhealthy thin. In some photos you can count every rib, and it's disturbing. :(

On a side note: I agree with the Ledgies who have voiced disapproval at the ridicule of Stevie's weight, comparing her to Miss Piggy, saying she looks bloated, etc. As much as I find this sort of thread amusing (and not because its focus is Stevie) body size is something I would never make fun of. I don't think its right. Bad hair? Sure. Bad outfit? Absolutely. Weird expression? Fair game. Weight gain? No way.

Yeah, I remember that thread. And only like, one or two of the pics could actually be considered a bad pic! And it's not like he looked bad during the time period it was taken, it's just that he had a weird expression, the angle was bad, etc. He's just too cute of a guy.

Get a life people.

The difference between Stevie and the rest of us (including other members of Fleetwood Mac) is that she partially built her career on being a glamorous woman. If anything, posts like this make her more of a human that we can all relate to on some level. I mean, that even the "Queen of Rock" has had a bad hair decade and still came out ahead should good news for the rest of us. Elvis certainly didn't have that advantage.

I don't have a problem with constructive criticism but even as a glamorous pulbic figure she deserves a little better than to be constantly ragged on for her appearance-especially by those who love her. I just felt it was in poor taste and starting to become the norm rather than the exception. This is not a subject I have said very much about. And since the thread is specifically about Stevie, it is in the wrong forum.

I still don't see why the fact that a star had a bad day (or decade) with her/ his hair (or dress, or make-up, etc), can become so important. We all are what we eat, them too, no?

But, that's the flip side of the coin. People oogled over Stevie for years because of her beauty. But, when she wasn't looking so pretty, people started to rip on her. Whenever people are built up, as she was, the public enjoys taring them down. It's just a sad fact of life.

It has to also be said that most people admire Stevie for having gotten through that period. To ignore how she was, and to not laugh at it on some level, is really to not appreciate how far she has come from those days. Really, how can we admire a comeback without looking at how bad the situation was?

As for this thread, I think most people are looking through these pics and laughing the same way people go through a year book and laugh at how awkward they were back in the day.

Steve, while I respect your opinion, I suggest you might want to meander over to Chit Chat and check out this thread by the same poster:http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=18307
I suspected that the bad pictures thread wasn't started in a kindly manner form the begining and was also leery of it being posted on the busiest Ledge page, the Rumours forum.

I've never understood why the American government is so uptight about gays in the military.

If they realized the damage a group of cheesed-off homos could do to someone... even WITHOUT ammo... they'd definitely rethink their stance!

You know, I actually read an article on Burnish last year where they described how they wore the prisoners down during interrogations at Gitmo and one of their methods was playing Fleetwood Mac.

I think I've mentioned before that, in my family, the men are outnumbered by the women.

Well, let me tell you from experience... a bunch of PMSing women isn't NEARLY as bad as a bunch of women going through menopause! ;)

I think we've finally figured out the formula to building the perfect army!
