I don't understand this. Why are you glad about negative publicity for the band? Is ther negative publicity? Why shouldn't they have booked the dates in the first place? What does taking the fans for granted mean? I'm totally at loss with your post, what am I missing? I'm glad that they play on today, whoever was ill must be better, fans at IoW are exited, fans who have tickets for the next concerts must be relieved. All is good at this moment.

They probably sacrificed the Manchester gig for the benefit of the Isle of Wight. That's not very nice for those people who had Manchester tickets.
Of course, it perfectly plausible Christine's voice genuinely wasn't well enough. I don't wish them negative publicity but I do hope they are fully aware of how many people are genuinely upset (not just pi**ed off).

I doubt that they did that. Their work ethic is not like that at all. I understand that people are upset, but everyone can fall ill and need some rest.

absolutely. Its just a big coincidence it happened ahead of this festival performance that's been hugely anticipated and for which they are reputedly being paid mega-sums of money (and which I still think could be filmed and sold).

There are side screens but I can't tell whether they have a background screen. I wonder whether they are able to play the backing graphics. I hope so for the crowd as it really adds to the performance. I'm pretty sure Blur had a backing screen.
