I hate it when people say about the album 'going Gold'. Have you seen the Billboard charts lately?

Veteran acts like them don't sell 500,000 copies of a new studio album anymore. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' new album sold about 250,000 copies and that included extra sales from concert tickets.

Pink Floyd's new album has sold approximately 220,000 copies in three weeks and they're a big selling album act. The album has plummeted as of today and is at #25 showing that the only way is down from now.

This new album if it does come out eventually, will debut at around #3 with strong first week sales of around 100,000, but after that it'll die and will sell around 200,000 copies +. It may be a different story in the UK however as album sales here for them are very strong and they are ALWAYS on the album charts. I think the album could sell around 100,000 copies here and would almost certainly go to #1.

The days of a new studio album going 'Gold' is extremely rare nowadays I'm afraid! :sorry:

That's why I said an album going 'Gold' is the best Fleetwood Mac can hope for... meaning it is unlikely they would even achieve that.

so the only time they have to finish the album (assuming they take aug off after working through jul) will be sept-oct 2015. i still hold a glimmer of hope that will happen, but if i'm realistic i would go with low expectations that are worded so eloquently by the title of this thread. ;)

Oh my God! Finally! They haven't forgotten us!

Sorry about the click-bait thread title. I'd change it but I don't know how.

you can ask mods to change it for you.

i don't have a problem with your title and i'm one of the people here who's pushing for that album the most; of course it never occurred to me even for a sec that you were stating the fact (although it may eventually turn out to be one).

if one is so worried, as soon as they click on the title they'll find out very fast what it is about. not a rocket science. :D

Very true. I'm a bit confused as to why people would think the thread title is a fact. It's not a quote from an article.

To me, as much as I would like a new album from the band, the cynic in me says it's not going to happen any time soon and it may not happen at all. If it's true that the band will be touring Australia and New Zealand in November 2015, any new album from the band would need to have its release date pushed back to 2016. I think by 2016 it will get to the stage where one or more of the band members is of the opinion, "why bother?"

Then we would probably get a new solo album from Lindsey and nothing else.

people posting "negative" thoughts may be just venting their frustrations... for all we know it may be therapeutic for them.

we don't know whether this person knows something or not, so i'm not sure why we would be compelled to say they don't know sh*t.

Because they don't, and Penguin Head was spot on to call out the person for posting speculated opinion as fact.

Could be....although a final Mac album with the Rumours group would be more noteworthy (I think) than the Eagles final album was....and that one went triple platinum.

I did not post my opinion as fact. Give me a break. I used a provocative headline for my thoughts. You seem to believe that just because something is posted on the Ledge it must be true...which is just stupid.

If "EP" ends up being the final studio release then you opinion will be fact...

Oh shut up!! All of you. I can say that with out even having to read a single post on this page. Now let me go back and read them so I can apologize later... Not! Some people just want to make a fuss. Haha including me right now ;)

The implication is that you're summarizing some new bit of information that you're going share within the thread. It is stated as a fact. Nobody knows what the source is until they click on it. So that's why it would be perceived as one who has not yet read the thread.

Or we will end up with an FM album which is basically a Lindsey solo effort with some songs by the others grafted on. Look at SYW - his contributions were totally Lindsey solo.

I disagree with the OP and think this is all rubbish
I saw the Mac on one of the first stops of this tour. Mick said at the end of the show the tour would go on forever.
The Mac is touring like it is 1977 all over again. This is an amazing moment for them. They are selling out all over the world. Why stop the magic? The Mac WILL record another album and Stevie WILL join them. If they do tour again it would never be as extensive as this one like lots of dates in western Canada and 70 North American dates.

So why rain on their parade when they are having so much fun on this tour. It so magical. I hope it never ends!

not me. there is NOTHING artistically creative about this tour. just money. get your azzes in the studio.

I'm betting 2017 for an album, if we get one.

I think it is magical, but I think an album would be even more so. And it will last long after they're gone.
