Any pics we haven't seen?

I guess if I were in charge I would have put the four tracks from Extended Play on this disc along with a blend of faves and rareties. But anyway....

Can I ask why? Given that this album's intended audience is the casual listener making an impulse purchase while ordering coffee, I don't see the EP tracks being very sensible choices. Maybe Sad Angel, but even that likeable little ditty is pretty incongruous with the sound Starbucks customers would know the band for, production-wise anyway. It just wouldn't fit.

I actually like the tracklist a lot. Oh Diane and Honey Hi are questionable inclusions, but there's always going to be a few songs in a mix that I think that of, and I like that it's not completely predictable. Closing with the Planets demo is an inspired choice. And I still love the cover. I hope I'm able to track down a copy sometime soon. :)

I have no problem with the existing track list although I firmly refuse to pay for repackages of stuff I already have. I think throwing in the EP tracks would have freshened this up and been a way to get "new" material in the ears of the public. As for the blend of different styles, as it is, the tracks on this album reflect a range of eras and a range of "sounds" of FM.

Like Dex, I'm a sucker for these kind of releases too. They certainly appeal to the casual listener, but also to Fleetwood Mac completists who must have every single release, no matter how duplicated the material is. :lol: But this compilation is actually a lot better than most. Obviously we've read a lot of the stuff that Rolling Stone contributing writer David Wild has written about Fleetwood Mac, but his latest liner notes are updated and are especially fun to read in the track-by-track commentary. He basically summarizes the most interesting things about each song and adds some recent quotes from the band. For example, it's nice to read that Lindsey's favorite Stevie song is "Gypsy" and a song he's proud to have produced.

Wild also puts in chart information for the songs that were singles, which most fans already know, but, if you're a chart enthusiast, reading these statistics about your favorite band never gets old. :nod:

I've posted pictures of the packaging and typed out the liner notes here. Don't worry, people in the publishing industry, I literally bought five copies of the CD and posted a link for people to purchase the CD online. :thumbsup:

I was in Whole Foods today and they were selling the FM Greatest Hits cd at the cash register. Right next to the Selena Gomez cd. That juxtaposition (and the setting) really surprised me.

This compilation was released this week 12 years ago. There are so many compilations, GHs, Best of, Very best of, Essential, XX Years, etc. that I don't remember this one, though the photo cover is cool.

I’d never heard of this. Interesting selection of songs- 6 by Stevie, 4 by Christine, and 5 by Lindsey. Usually their greatest hits albums only have 3 Lindsey songs, though his presence on Hold Me and Don’t Stop help make up for that, but here they included songs by him like Never Going Back Again and Oh Diane, which is unusual.

I count 4.5 Christine.
