I don't understand why Lindsey would be the one holding up the EP. He is the one that went and recorded new material hoping to turn it into a Fleetwood Mac album. Stevie shot that idea down, so it stands to reason that she would be the hold up behind the EP as well. Lindsey has shown he wants to put out new Fleetwood Mac material, I haven't seen anything from Stevie that shows she does as well. And with how productive Lindsey has been over the last few years, I don't see him being the holdout.

Somehow I don't think it's Mick. I think it's either Stevie or Lindsey as those are the two with the real power these days to green-light or hold up a project. Did LB vote down using ITM material coz Ken produced it, and he, Lindsey, wouldn't get to put his mark on it and he sees himself as the "visionary" for FM? Stevie was not thrilled with the final production of her songs on SYW. In the documentary Thrown Down is a clear example. She clearly ends up going along to get along with the production. When it came to the *business* decision of single vs double album, Lindsey lost out but that's because there are outside forces, i.e., business managers, for all the other members who have no qualms about arguing their position forcefully. I think Lindsey doesn't have the *business* sway in the band (I think these days tho that Stevie does) but Lindsey still seems to have the *creative* sway. I think Stevie is no longer happy allowing Lindsey's vision for the music to override hers , and I think the SYW experience was the last straw on that. Added to that her experience working with Dave Stewart and her repeated comments about how easy it was to work with him because he didn't take creative disagreements personally and didn't invest his ego in them and was willing to bend or change and you get a clear sense of why she doesn't want to endure another recording experience with Lindsey unless there's a designated mediator/final voice in the form of an outside producer. I think Christine has clear ideas for her music and wouldn't just hand it over to LB. Maybe she got tired of the same issues Stevie has in that regard. I think Mick and John are missing the ballast Christine provided, personally and musically. |

since the tour started, the only advertising they had about new EP is LB saying at the shows that it will be coming out "soon". that has been transmitted by various musical outlets, but there is no proper PR campaign, and EP is not listed anywhere to pre-order. even LB's low key solo stuff was handled with much more fanfare than this. at Mohegan show yesterday, LB said it will be coming out in a week. he's been the only one saying that publicly, and from what i heard Mick has said it at Mohegan m&g too. so the 2 of them certainly are not the ones holding it up, since especially LB is the one who ends up looking stupid for saying unsubstantiated stuff if EP does not come out. i'll be surprised (and unbelievably pleased) if EP does indeed come out on April 30. :p of course, if that does happen everybody will probably be dumping on LB for pushing the EP out when their PR and management were so obviously not ready.  |

i think Christine and Lindsey were very much equal footing collaborators, complementing each other in their differing strengths and weaknesses, as they both said and acknowledged many times. |

I think the way she talked about the Tango songs, with her having the music and him supplying the words on one track and him having the music and her supplying the words on another, was very illustrative of the back and forth and parity in their collaborations. And when she left the band, they weren't even working on new music anyway. I've always thought the limo conversation in which Stevie is complaining because Christine wanted Lindsey to sing with her on Hold Me was revealing of what Christine thought of the value of his vocal contributions on songs like Don't Stop and Think About Me meant. I wonder whether Christine and Lindsey did just have some harsh words at The Grammys? I certainly don't see her being annoyed with him at the way he produced her songs, as around the time of ITM she was generous about him and the way he did so.
When Lindsey was, repeatedly, saying in 2009 that she 'burned her bridges' after The Dance (complete with an intriguing and ambiguous smirk) I got the feeling that the two of them may have fallen out at the time, and that time had cooled whatever the argument was. I'm not saying this was the only reason: we all know she didn't want to tour any longer and that she hated flying; we know that she was homesick and hated the earthquakes when she lived in California; we know that her marriage was breaking down. But maybe a post-Grammy's argument was the straw that broke the camel's back? It would sort of thread together all the different stories you hear about *when* Christine said she was leaving. She said she told them all it would be her last tour before they set out; Stevie, I seem to remember, said at one stage that it was about 20 dates into the tour; Mick said something similar; other versions have said it was after the last night of the tour, others that it happened after the Brit Awards. Maybe it was a slow drip-drip of all of these, leading to a flashpoint after the Grammys? :distress: |
