Maybe delay is due to integration of Christine into the tracks ... or more tracks.

My guess is they've decided against releasing the material until they see how audiences react to it. Then they'll decide whether or not to record a full album, or simply dump the 3 songs onto iTunes & go back to their solo careers. I never once thought they'd be so bold as to release a few new songs electronically before a tour. That's just too efficient & not painful enough for us fans. |
The missus and I have great seats for the DC show next week, and she said to me over the weekend, "They aren't releasing anything new, are they? I want to hear the Good Stuff!" And I think that's the attitude of a lot of ticket-buying fans. Some of us die-hards might want to hear "Without You" on this tour, but I'm betting that the vast majority in the audience would much rather hear, say, "Blue Letter" or some other marginally well-known oldie over any new stuff. Especially if said new stuff hasn't been released anywhere yet - I'm in total agreement with the poster (MicheleJ) who wrote that we can't flip over a song the first time we hear it.
So, since no new FM album is out there, and the tour starts in 3 days... I'm hoping for a minimum amount of new material on the set list... |
I think Mick has some 'splainin' to do in Columbus.

I for one, am not really anticipating any new music at opening night in Columbus. I will be pleasantly shocked if they do. On top of not releasing any new promotional band photos for this tour -- which I'd imagine would've been also released to promote the new single(s) -- they haven't even been bothered to name this tour outing. They're too busy semi-promoting a fan made tour poster contest on Fleetwood Mac's FB page, as if that should include & appease us:rolleyes:. And since this is uncharted territory for the band (sticking a couple new songs for download on the Internet) maybe WB, or whoever is supposably releasing these new songs, is unsure how to market them. I feel as though these songs will go the way of that comprehensive talked -up FM re-release with unreleased footage (probably the Rumours deluxe box shelved) that was mentioned in every press release following the annoucement of FM's 09' "Unleased Tour", that was never released, or brought up again once the tour started. Perhaps they have rehearsed the songs, and they didn't transfer well to the stage as they sounded in Lindsey's home studio?!?
Or the non-cynical view :) WB & FM are soooo overcome & impressed with these three new recordings, they have decided to see how things roll on the 1st leg of the tour, and possibly if demand & interest is there they will record some more songs on the road for a new FM record late summer/early fall. Let's get real here -- this tour is simply a cash grab! And I've really had the impression for a l o n g time that Stevie is really not interested in recording with FM again (unless Christine is involved) and that is not going to happen! Stevie met up with the band in November at Lindsey's home - literally threw her vocals on Lindsey's 2 tracks & dug out "Without You" to appease Lindsey & have the start of this FM outing with her appearing to be compromising & have Band politics start off smoothly & without any tensions. But maybe she never intended that these would really be released. Well, perhaps "Without You" for a BN re-issue later. It seems lf Stevie were really serious about recording new FM material, she would have brought in at least one new song, which we know from last Fall's East & West Coast Film Festivals "IYD" screenings & Q&A's, she has written, and then comes along "You Can't Fix This". Also it's entirely possible that Lindsey is stewing that the year of FM is focused so far on Stevie's solo career. She's been solidly in the spotlight the last 2 months with Dave Grohl fronting The Sound City players & playing her new song (YCFT) whenever she seemed to have the chance. The Oprah "Masterclass" special. And now the past 2-3 weeks (since SXSW) there has been a blitz of Stevie solo press about the North American theatrical release of her "In Your Dreams" movie documentary in over 80 Theatres ("the best year of her life".) ;) Could there be "Trouble in Shangri-la"? Or as I suspect - Stevie is just calling all the shots. |
Stevie's whole "people don't want 10 new songs" IS BS. Then why the f@#k did she do her last album? Does she think we are stupid? If she really believes that to be true, she better not record another solo album again. If she does, she loses all credibility with me. Just say the truth, you don't want to record with FM again but would love to record another solo album. When it comes to touring with FM, you don't mind making a ton of money on tour, where you can stroll on to the stage and not have to interact with the rest of the band all day like you would in a studio. I for one am getting sick of her explanations that don't make any sense.

I don't think Lindsey honestly cares. He's always much more enjoyed just throwing work out there especially the past few years. But this band is really starting to tick me off with this new material crap. It's one thing to toot your own horn about it every chance you get and then you release it but to do it and it's been what, months and months now, with no other word other than "we'll play it and see"? What kind of crap is that? An audience didn't take to Running Through The Garden and it got cut, does that mean your general fanbase (who essentially ARE the ones that are gonna purchase this EP and put money into your pockets) didn't like the song? Uhm no, that means the average person who only wanted the golden oldies wasn't bothered. Ugh, for a band that had such huge success in the past and seems to crave more and more of it (because of these "hits" tours over the past 20 years / let's face it, this is a hits tour regardless of "new" material just like the dance) they sure do like pissing away their opportunities at it.

I like that they haven't released the new songs yet.
It's all about anticipation and keeping the fans hungry. It's not really a big music-release time of year. I'm not expecting anything until summer, once the tour is a well-oiled machine. |
Was there a poll that predicted that had the option that the new songs would never be released? If there had been, that would be my vote.

I agree that Stevie doesn't seem like she wants to record with FM ever again.
Just came back from her documentary - where she had to bring up the "Thrown Down" thing with Lindsey again.. Come on, even in your 'new' doc? Also - I totally saw myself in the footage from the Wiltern show on her birthday :]:] |
