As for the title referencing her absence, I do think I can "hear" her not being there throughout, like an echo. In fact, when I first heard Red Rover, on the album I thought he was saying "Christine you were dying . . . " discussing her misery as the Dance tour trudged along. So, when I read the liner notes and found he was saying, "could see you were dying," I was rather bummed.

Michele

I remember you stating that way back when...

Bad lyrics - Silver Girl ("She was a girly girl" - What??)

Christine come back, please!! - - Miranda (I love it but would have loved it even more with her harmonies/backing vocals)

Should've been a hit single - - Thrown Down (especially), Everybody Finds Out, Miranda.

Add this song, remove that one - Add Not Make Believe or I Am Waiting (LOVED hearing Stevie's harmony on this in Destiny Rules), remove Silver Girl or Red Rover (I do like Red Rover but it's such a Lindsey solo song that it jars - even more than Come)

Much better performed live - Come

Overall least favorite - Silver Girl

Bad lyrics - Everybody Finds Out. I don't often skip songs from this album, as it's one of my favourites. But it just doesn't stick out to me as one of their best. As I base a lot of my musical taste on lyrics alone, I can only suppose that it's simple style has alienated me some. It's still not a "bad" song. There aren't any on the album. But this one sticks out for me.

Christine come back, please!! - Bleed To Love Her. I adore the song, so don't misinterpret me. I just can't help but wonder how beautiful the harmonies would have been with Christine's sultry voice added to them in a more prominent way, rather than a simple harmony. Her voice always did compliment Lindsey's very well.

Should've been a hit single - As Bleed To Love Her is my favourite of the album, I suppose I'm biased in picking this one again. It should have been better received because, melodically it's stunning. It's lyrics may not be the most thought provoking, but each ingredient serves the song well as a whole to make a song I do tend to listen to on repeat when in a certain frame of mind.

Add this song, remove that one - Remove Say Goodbye (Gah, I'm sorry SG) and add Down On Rodeo. Actually....I don't know. That would rob Lindsey of one of his most impressive songs. He deserves to keep that for himself. Gah...Next question please.

Much better performed live - Come. The song needs more presence and energy than it is allowed in the constraints of a studio. Live performance allows more freedom in instrumentals and vocals, and Come is certainly a song that benefits from improvisation.

Overall least favorite - Probably Everybody Finds Out.

Bad lyrics - Red Rover & Silver Girl

Christine come back, please!! - More of her needed on Steal Your Heart Away - Love that song!!

Should've been a hit single - Bleed To Love Her - Love that one too!!

Add this song, remove that one - add Love Minus Zero/No Limit (awesome Dylan cover!!) and Not Make Believe, take out Murrow (I'm So Afraid redux), Miranda, Red Rover, Running Through The Garden and Silver Girl

Much better performed live - Come (this could be used to replace I'm So Afraid, change the live set up a little)

Overall least favorite -[/QUOTE] Red Rover

Regarding "Steal Your Heart Away", I got a promotional double CD when my wife and I went to "The Dance" concert. It had a series of interviews with the band and then a mix of songs, including a version of "Steal". It's definitely a different mix from what we got on "Say You Will" and while I like both versions, you can definitely hear Christine better/more clearly, on the other mix.

I think the 2nd cd had a bunch of new and old singles from various artists, possibly all Warner Bros. artists? I honestly don't recall. There were a few good ones on there but I haven't had it out in ages so I don't recall.

Bad lyrics - Silver Girl.

Christine come back, please!! - Christine would have been amazing on Thrown Down, Destiny Rules, Running Through The Garden and Everybody Finds Out. Maybe Miranda as well. Or the whole bloody thing.

Should've been a hit single - Thrown Down / Miranda.

Add this song, remove that one - They each need to lose about three songs each. The album just drags.

Much better performed live - Destiny Rules

Overall least favourite - Smile At You. Words cannot describe my loathing for the SYW version of the song

I'm really suprised to hear you say this. I love FM live. Every song is enhanced to the umpth degree.

I wasn't putting down any of the live songs. I just don't think any of them sound better than the studio version. That doesn't mean I think they are dogs. There are none that I wanted to hurry up and end. And we're only talking about SYW, too. There are plenty of other songs that I think sound better in concert than they do on the album, beginning with ISA.

Bad lyrics - Silver Girl. I love the first verse though, just not the rest.

Christine come back, please!! - It would have been great to have her on the album, but it's perfect the way it is IMO.

Should've been a hit single - Thrown Down

Add this song, remove that one - I got nothing!

Much better performed live - I don't know about live, but I prefer The Tower to Goodbye Baby and one of the Smile At You demos to the album version.

Overall least favourite - Oh this is hard, I love them all! But probably Say Goodbye.

If you read my: "SYW best album of all time" thread, you know how I feel about this! ;)

Bad lyrics - Silver Girl (Ugh)

Christine come back, please!! - Red Rover

Should've been a hit single - Thrown Down

Add this song, remove that one - Remove Silver Girl and Red Rover. I don't want to add anything if they just remove these lol.

Much better performed live - Say You Will

Overall least favorite Red Rover. Just terrible in my opinion.
