I definitely agree. We've still not heard a peep from Stevie, her label, her managers, etc that there even IS an album. I've got a sneaking suspicion this whole Dave Stewart thing is being blown way, WAY outta proportion. All I'm saying is, if there WERE to be a new Stevie album, I'd prefer it be just that: a NEW album.

Agreed. I would love new material, but I just honestly don't see a solo album happening. There's no evidence at all to point to this being more than a one-off collaboration, and the fact that she's booking easy-money casino gigs makes me even more pessimistic.

I'd love for her to prove me wrong, though :woohoo:

Yeah, I have to agree.....while I would love a new solo album (and CERTAINLY think one is LONG overdue!), I have a sneaking suspicion ~ from what little has been said! ~ that this project is going to be more of a duet album, ala Robert Plant and Allison Krauss' RAISING SAND.
That means all the songs WON'T be Stevie's....rather, we'll see some of her's, some of Dave's, and a bunch of numbers that will be co-written.

On a slightly different note....is Stevie still signed to Reprise?

and think about how much publicity THAT got! It was number one on iTunes FOREVER, there was the CrossRoads Episode, and of course, a grammy win!!!!!!:blob1:

If it is a duets album I don't see it being much like "Raising Sand" probably more like The Eurythmics with a Socal twist.

Yep, it could be a MAJOR success! And THEN we could see a solo album!:blob2:

You never know....Stevie did say she wanted to do something "different!"
(Plus, we're using the term "duet" loosely here...I think Stevie would handle most, if not all, of the vocals!).

The reason that was such a huge hit was it was SO out of left field. SO unexpected. Who'd a thunk... the father of Heavy Metal doing a duet album with a throwback bluegrass/country sweetheart? It broke down preconceptions and walls. It pushed envelopes, it redefined a legend's career, opened his music up to an entirely new audience, as well as opened up Allison's music and genre to a new audience.

Relative to that project, Stevie and Dave duetting is passe and dull. They're both '80s has beens who relied far too heavily on synthesizers at the height of their fame :sorry:. I'm not trying to be nasty... it's just that there's absolutely NO comparison to Robert/Allison with Stevie/Dave. For Stevie to get the same kind of press as that combo, she'd have to be duetting with a young artist, someone who's the polar opposite of what she's known for. Somebody else who has great talent, someone who stands on their own in their own genre. In my mind, the only genre Stevie could pull from to get the Robert/Allison effect would be hip hop/R&B. If she did an album with somebody like Mary J Blige for instance (Just pulling a random name out of my hat before I get people stomping on my choice), that would be something to talk about.

Out of left field:

Robert Plant singing bluegrass/country? Not so much. At least a third of LZ's songs could have been performed in the country context in concert without too many alterations/adjustments.

NOW you're talking. I'd love to see Stevie FINALLY leave the eighties behind and do something like that.

Last year, wasn't something said about how Stevie wanted to work with Timbaland? I don't remember if it actually came from Stevie's camp, or a Ledge fortune-teller....

Alright, so we're feeling pretty confident that Stevie is/ will be working on an album, and there is a decent chance that it could be released this year.

So, what do we think will be on it, in terms of some new material, and perhaps some old demos that haven't seen the light of day.
What do you think?

"Stay Away," "Space Needle" and ALL of the "Rhiannon" songs.

Excuse me, I need to go check something out - there's this REALLY loud, repetitive beeping noise coming from about 3 feet away from my head - - - not quite sure what it is!!!

That, sir, was PERFECTLY stated. In so few words. Dang :)

I do think we will see and hear 'She Loves Him Still'- it would continue a trend- where we read a line or a few lines of a song, and it shows up on a later release. The lyrics from 'She Loves Him Still' were in 'Enchanted' 12 years ago, so I think it may be on the new release. The new Stevie Nicks release. I don't believe its a duet album at all. I don't think he'll even be the producer of all of it. It's a solo album.*
*unless it's not. **

** but, it is. A solo album.

Nikolaj 04-23-2010 04:14 AM

Also, some of the 'Thousand Days" lyrics included on the 'Rock A Little' release, later got released, as a b-side, and on 'Enchanted...
