Fleetwood Mac To Release LP

Fleetwood Mac are planning to release a new album.

The legendary band - who kick off their 'Unleashed' tour in Glasgow, Scotland, on Thursday (22.10.09) - want to go back into the studio next year to start work on their first LP of original material since 2003's 'Say You Will'.

Singer Stevie Nicks says fans have a lot more to look forward to from the band, but say they can only start recording when they complete their dates.

She said: "When we're on the road, we barely have time to go and have a meal, let alone write new material. But in January we'll have a meeting and decide what to do."

The legendary singer also claims the band - who were notorious hellraisers during their 70s peak - have finally grown-up and are having a great time on the road.

She added: "Fleetwood Mac still presents some amazing opportunities. Around thirty years ago, we were all so self-absorbed that we couldn't see out of our own corner. Things are a lot more fun now."

I'm reading clips from News now, the Irish Examiner, Virgin Media, etc.

It's funny to me how all the headlines are saying Fleetwood Mac plans to release a new album and all Stevie says that they're going to meet to talk about it in January. It's not like she said they were going into the studio in January. This is how rumours get started.

I don't see it so much as rumour - seems more like publicist plants to build up for the actual product.

Well, why wouldn't the publicist plant be based on a real statement about a new album, rather than distorting a quote Stevie made about meeting in January. Why not just quote Stevie actually saying they'd start on a new album next year?

Good point. I just think that's a waste of ink or space if there's absolutely nothing to it at all, but then again it is the media...

I guess time will tell.

If nothing else, maybe the people who keep track of these things (Irving? Howard? McManus?) will notice how much attention even the whisper of a new album got on the wires and they will know that there is interest out there. So, it benefits us, either way.

True! I'm just betting since the cd/dvd thing was previously announced that they have something already in the can...Stevie even said that in March - that she and Lindsey had enough of material for an album so they really didn't even need to "write on the road"...

I found an article today maybe SYW time period where LB was more direct about a BN release and how they would definitely have to wait until the right timing for proper promotion - he alluded to it being part of a "retrospective" boxed set even...

This is in another thread, and I really don't think we should have a thread that says "New Fleetwood Mac Album!!!!" Because they never said there would be a new album. Stevie just said they would talk in Jan. So those talks could mean anything. It's an exciting thought, but we can't say there's going to be a new album for sure.

Absolutely!!! Plus, I had heard it from a "inside RELIABLE" source a couple of months ago, and now it's confirmed! I don't think that several sources would come across with something if it weren't true.. just sayin'...:rolleyes:

Oh really? Actually, a very reliable inside source had told me about this a few months ago, and now, with SEVERAL other sources reporting it, be in convincing or not.. it's a go! :thumbsup:

But in that quote all she says is that they are meeting in January to decide what to do. Am I missing something?

Are all the other media reports just quoting this as their source? Mick Fleetwood in The Sun interview from last week just said he hoped it would happen. It sounds like nothing is confirmed to me, just that they are talking about it and to be fair they've been talking about it for a long time.
