Ooooh, that is a big no-no. Who did he plagiarize?

Rolling Stone for one. He (or his ghost writer) took many passages whole cloth and used them as if they were Mick's words.

Not that I know of...

I saw Christine once say, with a good deal of ambiguity, that it was for Mick, but only after Mick insisted that it was in his book...

I think Mick co-opted that song!

But I do think that ALL THE KING'S HORSES is referring to Mick. (He isn't the horse, he's the king.)

Mick also said he is the dark wing in SARA's lyrics "And he was just like a great dark wing.. Within the wings of a storm". It meant he arriving in his black cadillac. Never heard Stevie confirming that.

Yes, I've heard Christine say more than once that Mick was the "Daddy", because he was the leader of the band, the only father in the band, etc. But that's open to question just like the people (person) behind Songbird is open to question.

Well, that was pretty stupid. Wonder why they thought that was a good idea.

Yes. I also think that FFG and All the King's Horses fall in nicely with Ooh My Love. The king would be Mick, representing FM and its fall.

Correct me if I am wrong, but in the Classic Albums Rumours documentary doesn't Christine mention that Oh Daddy was written about Mick. I think she says something about him being the manager during the late 70's early 80's period, but that for a while he wasn't the Big Daddy in the band (I assume she is referring to his bankruptices drug abuse etc) ,but now he is again.

That's correct, and Mick said in the same doc that he was the only father at that time

Yes, but all of this happened long after Mick insisted the song was written for him. I get the feeling Christine is just being polite and going along with his assumption because he wanted so badly for one of those songs on the album to be about him.

The lyrics to the song are very much about a love relationship, a woman struggling with an archetypal "daddy" figure...

I dunno. I could easily see "and I can't walk away from you, baby if I tried" being about Mick/Fleetwood Mac. Maybe the song is like Sara, where there are many topics covered in one song.

Are you extrapolating a single line from its surroundings?

One might just as dependably extrapolate:

Here is no water but only rock
Rock and no water and the sandy road

from The Waste Land & decide that it refers to the emigrant trail across the Great Salt Lake, or perhaps a construction site in Las Vegas.

His reading of that line is perfectly competent. There's nothing wrong with the interpretation of a single line outwith its body text.

My interpretation of this post is that there is rage simmering within its author, volcanic rage, seething & disproportional to the trigger. Is my reading perceptive?
