Well, it was LB who had to choose what to play and he was the one saying NGBA was all he could think of....however, it would have been cool if they had broke into something they didn't even write - what about all the songs they must have practiced harmony on before they did their own material? I would think with LB's Rolling Stones covers they must be inspired to sing other stuff even when they are just in the privacy of their own homes...I guess in the interview setting it is "all about them" though.

I like Cory's entry where she said that Stevie started singng Glenn Campbell's Southern Nights and Lindsey joined them. We all would have loved to hear that. But even Kiss and Run on the reissue is really nice. Christine was the director and she told SnL to sing and they immediately started. I would like a whole album of those little things.

Bob Welch was screwed over simply because he challenged the band over perceived royalties he felt he was "shortchanged" years earlier. This whole affair erupted in the early 90's and was eventually settled in court IIRC.

Unfortunately that affront left a residual of bitterness and suspicion within the band. Shame really, as Welch deserves the same degree of recognition as any other Mac principal. Why this couldn't have been put aside for this singular event I have no idea. Grudges die hard apparently, even among artists.

But then just as an earlier commenter said, who gives a flying **** about the R&R Hall Of Fame anyway. When bands like the Moody Blues, Jethro Tull and Yes have yet to be recognized, and yet a bunch of fly by night, non-descript, wingding bands are trumpeted to the heavens and rolled in, you know the whole thing smacks of POLITICS and MORE POLITICS (uh, beyond poor taste). Alas, some things never change. :rolleyes:

PS. For all it's worth, Danny Kirwan was included in the induction but I'm not sure if he would have been up for the public recognition and the stage at that time.

We were at the induction ceremony that night (long story) and if I recall correctly FM only did the two songs that were broadcast.....everyone only did two songs. Also there was no jam because the Eagles insisted on performing last and you know how they are. :) Most people in the audience seemed confused over the lack of a jam. After the Eagles walked off the stage, Jann Wenner went up to the podium and thanked everyone for coming. It was a very anti-climatic ending to the evening.

Yeah..."California Dreaming" would have been cool...That is the first song that they sang together, correct? NGBA was a lame choice on Lindsey's part considering that they are so famous for their harmonizing. Obviously he would pick a song that is basically him and the guitar, right?

That's one thing I didn't like about his Soundstage with her. Even singing Second Hand News would have been better than NGBA. SHN is a duet.


As for Say Goodbye, I always said that Sunny Von Bulow came out of her coma to awake seeing them performing that song looking into each other's eyes and she promptly fell back into it. But now she's dead. So, I don't know what to say about it -- except I'm thinking it won't make the setlist this time around.
