On the "controlled" (read: officially recorded versions) I agree with you, but on the bulk of the bootlegs he just goes bazerk on them. He's been singing that song like crap on the UTS tour, GOS was better, but on the soloing you can't say he's lost intensity. Sometimes he overstretches and it falls apart in industrial noise-which I sometimes even prefer..but that aside..., but basicly he soars out a heck of a vigorised solo to these ears.

Nah - I think he was wilder from Tusk back. Then again, they all were.
Again, his current stiff is good if not great though. I agree with ya there.
Actually, one of the more intense things I think he did was Say Goodbye on the SYW tour. I get that that song is not a rock and roll song, but the cadence of the song is intense to me, not to mention the looks those two gave each other.
