The closest I get is the intro to EO17 where we see the video backdrop of him playing, with the real Waddy standing right in front of us. That's pretty exciting. And it just might be sexy. On the verge maybe.

Aww, now that IS mean... :(

Waddy...sexy? The guy looks like Fred Phelp's psychotic daughter, and his guitar skills would have landed him in an AC/DC tribute band if Linda Ronstadt was never popular!

Sorry, perhaps ye picked me up wrong - I never said Waddy was sexy, I said the dancing was.
Though he's alright as far as I'm concerned...

I don't know what that is-yes, it is chilling. I once or twice made the mistake of doing GDW at kareoke. The words on the soundstage mp3 are just ridiculous....it's like "ummmm, death" . These words that I never heard on the album and never heard Stevie sing these words live. I was embarrassed!! It looked so evil!!

Speaking of crappy lyric translation, have any of u seen the ones on the mirage dvd? Rhiannon is "We aaaaaaadled" and several more travesties i cant remember... if u have it check out the subtitles for a good laugh!

Goosebumps indeed, after careful analysis and bandwith isolation this is what I heard:

 Awesome!

I don't know if my version of GDW has the breaking glass sound. It's the 2 disc remaster from a few years ago and I don't think I've ever heard it. Unless I'm just missing it because I don't see the logic in taking it out.

2. CM 's voice and La Nicks' voice were sheer bliss. They played off of each other and the result was great.

3. This is a five member band with four playing instruments. Yet, the sound is huge. Sadly, it takes three other guitarists, tracks, and four or five backups to get the same sound that is, IMO, not as good.

Thanks for psoting these!

1. It's quite possible the vocal track may have had some studio tinkering.

2. I agree...their harmonies were in fact sheer bliss (along with any harmonies with Lindsey too!) The travesty is that they rarely capitalized on those harmonies, especially as time went on.

3. The thing about this -- the Mirage tour was the last time they played without a backing band (except for an occasional acoustic guitar). I saw them then, and the show was amazingly good --a big full sound. While they didn't attempt recreate sound-for-sound the studio versions of songs, they reinterpreted them for a live setting with minimal instrumentation. I was always excited to see how they would achieve this.

Fast forward to the heavy corporatization and Vegas style approach to concert scene these days, there has been a mass culture shift in that approach. Now instead of going to a concert with the excitement of not knowing what could happen....we know exactly what's going to happen, with everything highly calibrated and tightly canned. Vegas style!

It certainly seems to be the unfortunate trend. The roll has been taking out of rock. Plus you have a new generation of fans that expect performances to be a carbon copy of the record...what's the point of that? I wonder how many bands feel that pressure. One trend I've noticed --as bands get older they seem to add more and more backup players to the roster, filling in the sound and adding every nuance from the recorded verision. Is it old age? A diminished lack of confidence? The pressure to be perfect? To protect their legacy?

With regard to the bootlegs -- I'll take the sometimes thin, scrappy, rough and out-of-tune performances from 1975-1982, over any shows they did since then.

^^^

I wonder if the full sound is due to the players are their friends and they do not want to put them out of work. Clearly, LB and La Nicks like many people backing them up because their solo sets are full of players, save for LB's last tour, which was scaled down, possibly due to cost restraints as opposed to his desire.

This is mentioned on the thread linked to on the first page, but I always thought there was some Lindsey screeching going on too. Something about the tone of voice, granted with some likely tinkering, sounds quite a bit like him. I wouldn't doubt that it's some of both of them, especially after hearing that live version of Stevie going at the eerie noises!

I recall fondly that moment in Making of Rumours when Lindsey singles this sound out and stares at the soundboard like it has two heads, laughs and then comments "I think it's fair to say we were under a good amount of duress", and raises his eyebrows. Priceless.

Doesn't seem likely to me. Those people (Tuggle, Hirano, Garfield, Castro, &c.) all found work with dozens of other acts over the years.

I think his last tour was scaled down for musical reasons. The album often -- in Lindsey's, Christine's & Stevie's cases -- dictates to a large degree just what the touring band consists of. On Buckingham's first solo tour, he wanted to take a meticulous approach to re-creating the poly-parts of the studio music. Nicks solo album personnel often toured that album with her (or else she pulled in others to play parts as played on the album, as she did in 1989). Chris did the same thing on her one & only post-Rumours solo tour, largely relying on the personnel who played on the album.
