Also, Lindsey has said that Greg was 4 years old then him so that would mean that if Lindsey was 16 in 1965 that Greg would be around 20.

Perhaps that is not THE Greg Buckingham? It HAS to be him, right? That would be uber-weird if it's not. The only date I have is the 65 on the side of the yearbook, Pattie. I'm not sure.

If Lindsey said Greg is 4 years older, then it can't be him, I guess.

Apr. 9, 1965

Yale's Don Schollander, 18: the 200-yd. freestyle in the national A.A.U. men's swimming championships at New Haven: in an American record time of 1 min. 41.7 sec., to continue his winning ways after collecting four gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics. Another teenager, Greg Buckingham, upset Veteran Roy Saari in the 400-yd. individual medley, but Saari consoled himself with a first in the 1,650-yd. freestyle.

Anyone out there know the exact birthday of Greg? Lindsey meant that Jeff, his older brother, is 4 years older...Greg must be the 2nd oldest.

Geez, I'm obsessed with finding this out. LOL Here is another date and his age is listed as 21.

Mar. 31, 1967

Stanford's Greg Buckingham, 21: the 200-yd. freestyle at the N.C.A.A. indoor swimming championships, beating Yale's Don Schollander—winner of four gold medals at the 1964 Olympics—and breaking Schollander's U.S. record with a clocking of 1 min. 41.3 sec. at East Lansing, Mich. Buckingham set another U.S. mark (4 min. 37 sec.) in the 500-yd. freestyle, and his Stanford teammate Dick Roth also won two events: the 200-yd. and 400-yd. individual medleys.

Jeff is 7 years older than LB; Greg was 4 yrs older. Maybe that's not him in the yearbook then....or is it possible that LB was in 9th grade when Greg was a Sr? They might have been 3 yrs apart in school. Just a thought.

Very nice though, thanks.

 I share that sentiment...

Well, Lindsey is listed as a sophomore and Greg a senior. Could Greg have been held back?

That explains why this Greg looks nothing like the Greg we see in LB's BTM, who looks like a beefier version of Lindsey. It is a common enough name.

Now I am very confused.  To me those first pictures posted of 'Greg" do not really look like him. However in that third football pic he does look like a Buckingham to me.

Ah!

Perhaps we need to do a Unsolved Mysteries: Greg Buckingham episode to figure this out. LOL!

It would be something if there was another Greg Buckingham. Here is a thought though, if Greg won a silver medal for swimming, wouldn't it stand to reason if that was the same Greg that there would be photos of him on various swim teams in the yearbook. I don't remember if there are or not.

Yeah, I thought the same thing myself. He would have been on the swim most likely too.

They look like different people to me. Who knows maybe the yearbook had a few errors.
