I don't think people appreciate more the manner Stevie drapes her shawl, but it's an act that gives people the moment to express their appreciation for all of them. Usually people don't go around cheering at someone for draping shawls (even if it would be cute), they do it watching her, because the intensity of the song creates the right climax. And it's the same for Silver Springs, people is eager to see them interacting because the song and the way is performed are emotionally involving. Something like some scenes in Taylor/Burton's Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf: you can love or hate the film, but doesn't leave you indifferent.

Purely talking of Stevie and Lindsey as performers, they're both incredible, and they are equally important on stage, IMO. Personally, I'm more drawn by the way she feels the audience and responds to its vibes, the way she sings and communicate. He's a master as guitarist, and his energy is amazing during songs like Come, Big Love, Go Your Own Way, etc, but I tend to prefer the quiet ones, so I look to John. :D ;)

Stevie's been doing the boot, shawl, drama thing since the beginning of time, that's her image, she's not going to change it now, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. After all, this last tour was basically the "Buckingham Nicks" tour, IMO, which means it was split right down the middle as far as stage time is concerned. If Stevie didn't put her shawl on after 30 years of doing that, we'd all think WTF?? :eek: :shrug: :laugh:

I see your point about the women who came after the breakup, but still think it would be natural for a guy (and even the girls of that time) to be like kids in a candy store with all that attention.
And she does reference women who will come and go and all that jazz...so, maybe it's my own pet theory that he wasn't entirely immune to other women throwing themselves at him (or her falling for smooth talking musicians from other bands, either).
Whatever inspired the song and the anger--it's a great performance of a fabulous song. And, even if one wants to criticize later performances for some canned emotion, the night they taped the Dance was something very, very special and we're lucky to have it captured for all time.

The romance card makes me want to vomit. Tacky, imo...
As for the shawls, etc, I guess I don't mind, but, if Stevie's too old (hip) to pull off the twirling, boots, etc, she should give up that whole schtick.

I agree with Kelly, When i saw them, Although i enjoyed his Stand Back antics immensely, I thought it was a bit scene stealish.

Well, Stevie wasn't on the stage at that time. It would be a bit boring just to sit and listen to the drum intro. He was fun to watch. I think once she twirled into the scene, he backed off and let her do her thing.

Oh, he was still dancing his a** off when she came out, at my show. I noticed because i thought - "hey, stevie's out, she's started dancing, and there's LB still doing his thing!"

When Stevie is singing, I don't pay attention to him. I can admit that. :nod: He could be naked, dancing with a tomato and I wouldn't know.

I've never thought that for a minute but if that's how it seem's, I believe it was completely unintentional. I think Lindsey was just putting on a extra good show for the taping (if your talking about LIB). Lindsey was just really rocken out, and really in the moment, how can you not be to that performance of Stand Back?

well, i was talking about the shows i saw, that's when i thought it. But, yeah, it was a "good show" by Lindsey. It just crossed my mind that it was a tad scene stealish. No harm, really. I mean, he was playing guitar for the song, so. I just thought that. especially since it's so much (literally) her song, and she herself puts on the most "action" (twirling, dancing) during that song than any other. :D

What I take away from LIB SB is just watching Fleetwood Mac rocken out to a "Stevie" song. Watching Lindsey mouth "standback", "standback" is one of the greatest moments on LIB.
