Bring on the bootlegs!

The kinks haven't been quite worked out of it yet. Lindsey at this point in the show was pissed about his guitar problems so my impression was that he did not play this song very enthusiastically. Ray Lindsey joined the band on stage to play acoustic in addition to Neale, Brett and Carlos for this song but the first little guitar solo by Linds was off time and then for some reason Mick lost the time for one of the latter choruses. The general consensus among fans I spoke with afte the show is that this song could be dropped. I hope not. We'll see.

People sitting behind me in the fifth row had fan club tix. I believe they had bought the bronze package.

We had received sixth row behind Stevie through the fan club for the show.

Kudos to them for posting!!!!!!!

THE VOCAL IS AMAZING!!! :] She's singing where the instrumental breaks used to be so it's not such a "long, boring song" (Stevie's words) anymore. Man, I've REALLY missed this song in the set. I was so captivated.

She also was animated during the song and swayed, etc. The Tusk video behind her also was very moving.

The best part was the dancing... when she was dancing in front of Lindsey and mouthing "All I ever wanted... was to know that you were dreaming..." over and over. It was breathtaking.

She looked beautiful, with the earrings, and her hair, and the red shawl, and the boots... it was magical.

I know- I was pretty much sobbing by that point or had stopped and was starting again. She poured herself into that song. I will never forget her powerful vocal at about 4:25 of the boot. I thought I got a bruise from the power of it

Also, I could have sworn she also sang to LB while dancing "were we just dreaming?" But I cannot be sure, etc. I was just in awe!!!!!!!! BTW, LB's ending guitar had a lot to do with the tears!!!!!! it was sublime and his face playing it - SHHHEEEBUSS!!!!

strandinthewind 05-09-2004 10:37 PM

I just remembered LB jumping onto Mick's drum riser and and literally beating a cymbal like 20 times with the tuning end of his guitar at the end of, I think, GYOW!!!!!!!!

After listening to the bootlegs my impression is that DLMDA has lost some energy over the years esp on the singing part.

True, but the energy is coming from other areas! (sorry gaius :D ) What about the pace and the rockin'paced guitarriff!!!!

I just listened to the recording of "Sara" posted at bluewhitefire; it's simply stunning. Wow. Her voice is superb; I relished the way she holds those notes and her passion in the finale ("All I ever wanted...").
Truly Stevie's masterpiece.

I'm so glad you guys had a good time!!!!! :blob2: GREAT review!

Jason, I can just picture you standing there with tears streaming down your face. That would be a sight for sore eyes. Not to mention the fact that you probably towered over Chris while doing so.

And a shout out goes to Tiff for posting the FANTASTIC downloads!
