About the setlist...

Personally, I think they should do a different set every night (I.E. - The Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam, etc...). It would be exciting and I'm sure the band would have fun doing it too. I mean, they have written enough songs so that they could do this, so it's not like they are restricted to the 25 they play now. And why is there no homage or reference to the pre-Buckingham Nicks eras of the band? I mean, they could at least play Oh Well or Hypnotised, as a tribute to those musicians who came before them. I just don't get it.

This is one that I really think needs to go, go, go... It was stale in 1983 fer chrissakes- that was 20 years ago!! It's a good song, but it really is tired. ANY song would be better than this.

I'm not too keen on Stevie 1979 super-tight perm. That was one style fad that nobody needed! It reminds me of Ann and Nancy from Heart on the cover of "Bebe Le Strange". YIKES!!!

Still laughing from the "Lucas on Days of our Lives" comment on the Lindsey icon! Only cause I watch the show...

Anyway here are some songs I'd love to see and I do hope they mix it up a bit. I would love them to keep some of Rumours but not the whole album.

1. Monday Morning
2. Blue Letter
3. Stop Dragging my Heart with Lindsey on vocals with Stevie - awesome!
4. Crystal
5. Sara (yeah I'll keep dreaming)
6. Frozen Love
7. Oh Well (agree it's time to bring it back)
8. Seven Wonders
9. Tango in the Night
10. Everybody Finds Out
11. Running thru the Garden

These would be in addition to the usual songs. I could do without Mick's drum thing (yawn) and replace Stand Back with Edge of Seventeen. Also tired of live Big Love to be honest - as much as I love Lindsey I'd like to see something different.

I think it would be really cool and really easy if Lindsey played Stephanie on this next leg of the tour. It is such a beautiful song! It makes me feel like I am floating up to heaven or something!

I could not agree more with this post! It truly baffles me when you consider how many songs they could dig into night after night. Instead, we get a rehearsed-to-the-syllable stage production.

They wouldn't even have to change the entire setlist every night. Just pick 5 songs to swap out on alternating nights - swap Dreams with Sara, WTWCT with Miranda, Beautiful Child with Storms, EOTW with Monday Morning and Stand Back with EFO. Then swap them back out for the next night. Lather, rinse, repeat. Isn't that easy?

I also feel like they're missing an incredible opportunity to bring out some Buckingham Nicks songs...I mean, if not now, when? Like everyone else, I'd kill for Frozen Love, but something like Long Distance Winner or Races Are Run would suit me fine too.

If Mick would actually play the drums instead of his damn torso, I'd be a lot more interested. He's a great drummer who used to command arenas with his intense, brief solos during Fleetwood Mac pseudo-jams. Just turn the other guy OFF & let Mick rip.

Hmm... stylistically, "Edge" is so far afield of Fleetwood Mac's style that I can't help thinking it would be more mess than anything. How about a solo song that has Fleetwood Mac style tucked into its nooks & crannies? Something like "Blue Lamp" or "Sable on Blonde"? Mick already knows the latter, having played it on "The Wild Heart." In fact, Stevie could introduce it as a replacement for "Dreams": "You guys will love this because it sounds like 'Dreams' but it's a little fresher."

Rumours 03-22-2004 08:51 PM

I actually have that pic of Lindsey hanging on my wall too....only it's on the bottom right corner the cover of the 45 RPM single of The Farmer's Daughter...... ;) ;)

I too would like them to change the setlist around this time. There's so much they could do...

I agree that is a problem to a certain extent, but ~much worse~ the band look like they're agreeing that Rumours is the only worthwhile thing they've ever done. Show more pride in your artistry!:distress: I love Rumours, and there are songs on it I would still like to hear in concert despite how much they've been played, but.....

It's like, "play Say You Will songs because it's our new album and then appease the audience with Rumours songs". I suppose since the money-making part of the music business is relying so much on touring now, they have to play a lot of Rumours to keep people coming to see them. But if they played some things from other albums, people might hear it for the first time, like it, and pick up a copy of THAT album. I mean, everyone in the audience already owns Rumours, so they don't need to sell more copies of THAT. Maybe it's a hopeless cause, but I've certainly seen people and picked up an old album because a song stood out to me.

Yeah! I second that thought! Put some new stuff in like Thrown Down! Or some classics like SOTM or Save Me A Place!

Or even Angel (of my Dreams)!!!

The setlist will be changed, no doubt about it....the question is really how brave Fleetwood Mac gets....

Here are the sure bets.....

You can bet the following songs wont be touched:
The Chain
Dreams
Gypsy
Big Love
GYOW
Gold Dust Woman
Tusk
Silver Springs
Rhiannon
Peacekeeper
Say You Will
Im So Afraid
Secondhand News
Never Going Back Again
Don't Stop
Total: 15 songs untouched *probably*

Next, songs that could get the axe:
Eyes of the World
Come
Say Goodbye
Beautiful Child
World Turning
Whats the World Coming To
Goodbye Baby
Total: 7 songs they could chop *probably*

Next, songs that have a GOOD CHANCE of showing up:
Destiny Rules
Steal Your Heart Away
Oh Well
Storms
Red Rover
Monday Morning
Total: 6 songs that could show up

The main thing we have to remember is to be realistic....believe me, as much as I want "Dreams" dropped, I know they wont....You can probably expect shuffling of the order, and some song changes, but dont expect anything out of this world (I hope I am proved wrong)

David,
I agree "Blue Lamp" would be a nice addition! I never thought of that song - was thinking more mainstream with "Edge...".

I actually think they should change out a few of the standards for more standards not played if they want to be safe - ie change out "Second Hand News" for "Monday Morning", etc. I don't mind hearing Dreams, etc. and the other standards but would love a few new one's and come on , why not some Buckingham Nicks - now is their chance! "Crystal" would be incredible and didn't they used to do "Don't Let me Down Again." I tell ya if they are willing to play new stuff a lot of the crowd has not heard why not the old stuff they also have not heard (but the rest of us knows!)

I think Say Goodbye, Beautiful Child, World Turning and Goodbye Baby will stay...I think they have a better chance than SYW or (especially) Peacekeeper even. I think they might trade those two out for Thrown Down and Steal Your Heart Away or (less likely) Miranda. And I'm in denial that Eyes may get the ax.:( :) I think L & S are enjoying Say Goodbye too much to let it go (as are we;) ), they're enjoying BC and there's no chance they're tired of it, World Turning has been a show staple and I can't see them reworking where Mick's vest is going to fit into the show, and Goodbye Baby is our little treat at the end of the show (I know some are against this quiet song at the end, but I love that 3/4 of the audience has left and it becomes very personal for us fanatics. The band knows what they're doing here. Same reason I believe Stevie always does HAEWAFY as the very last song for years now, so that she is left singing it just to us.) Personally, I want to see Landslide go (I know it won't, but I hate to say, despite the fact that it is an epic, AMAZING song I love and adore and it's a poignant moment in the show, I am growing weary of it), and would wet myself to see Crystal take its place. And Amen! to the movement to see Big Love plugged in. For a long while after first being introduced to the acoustic version, I thought I could never not favor it, but I fiond myself yearning for the Tango version (as brilliant as the acoustic version is).

Janet 03-30-2004 02:44 PM

I don't think they will change the setlist much. When do they have the time to rehearse? Isn't Kristen ready to pop soon? I hope he's spending time with her in her last month.

I just think it will stay the same. They announced old and new songs and they probably feel they have the perfect mix of that. I could see SYW and Peacekeeper go for some Frozen Love and Tango in the Night but THAT won't happen.

The same set list would be fine. I DON'T want to see Come or Stand Back go...those are the two most fun songs I think.
