I'm running errands today so I'll check and see if my local record store has them out yet. I really want the Tusk reissue above the other two since Tusk is still my favorite FM record. I've been a fan since the White Album, but Tusk is still my all-time favorite.

I just looked at the other thread showing the remasters' back cover art, and now I'm confused...

Are any of the tracks on Disc 1 of Tusk edited in any way? How did they get the original album version of "Sara" to fit on Disc 1 without doing something to one or more of the other songs?

When 'Tusk' was originally released on CD, compact discs could only hold 74 minutes of music, but now they can hold 80 minutes.

The total running time for 'Tusk' clocks in at about 76 minutes, so it fits on a CD with total ease now. :)

Yep, I have had the full version of Sara along with the rest of Tusk for years, thank God for Cdrs and Cd Burners. With the added room I also added Red Rover to my last tusk mix, it fits in very well.

The reissues "sound" amazing, and the way you guys describe them they must look amazing too, can't wait.

I love these remastered the second discs make it! And on the second disc of tusk i love IKINW the number 12. its almost sounds like not that funny came out of the begining of the song? The don't make me wait part?

Sister of moon has all the lyrics now, the mix on the second disc has the added lyrics in the booklet if u have the old non-remastered version.

:D

Here are three things I noticed right away about the tracks on the reissues:

On the White Album... The Say You Love Me remix is different from The Chain version. It's the full remix :) The Chain version cuts out a chorus at the end.

On Rumours... Silver Springs is the same version found on The Very Best Of FM (without the full backups) but it's 20 seconds longer at the end. This is VERY cool.

On Tusk... The remix for I Know I'm Not Wrong was used again. It would have been nice to hear the original, stripped down vinyl version.

Hmmm....

I just noticed something wierd. Doesn't Anything Last bears a SLIGHT resemblance to "The Highwayman". Anyone else hear that? The very beginning music and him singing the first few words.

Just sump'in I noticed. :)

shackin'up 03-23-2004 03:21 PM

Cool!

That was the first thing i thought! It's not very slight, Christy, the note and tone are very similar!

wow, great that you found out the same thing as I did!

Since I am patient...

and will be receiving my copies shortly, Which officially released version of "Gold Dust Woman" is used on the "Rumours" disc, The fade in version or the "cold" start version (At least that's what I call it)?

And to add to that, does it have the glass breaking sounds in it?

DeeGeMe 03-23-2004 03:59 PM

Well, I've got everything but Tusk now--I went to three stores today and none of them had it so I finally broke down and ordered it online. In the meantime I'll just have to content myself to listening to what I have. And so far, it's amazing!

OMG, Dissention...we're on the same page! I always listen for that glass breaking sound too!

But no, it's not there because the vinyl album original with the fade intro was used. I favor the cold start intro more...that version has a cold stop ending too, and of course that "breaking glass" sound.

The slightly longer version of Second Hand News was also used again, instead of the vinyl album original, which has one fewer "yeah-eah" at the end.
