I fell in love with Stevie after seeing GDW on the Dance. That was MY view of her. I loved the raw energy.

Then someone sent me the Mirage concert. Woah.

I would have given my life to see Stevie in the early-mid 80's. That's when she had more confidence. That's when she knew WHO she was, she loved her music and her sexuality. I want to see THAT Stevie.

Now she's great, but I know I missed a different Stevie altogether.

And who cares she was doing drugs?! I mean it didn't grow inside her and it wasn't this other personality. That was still Stevie up there, just a little, um, high.

I HATE Red Rocks because that's all I'll ever know of that tour and I know it's not real.

After reading everyone's post, I want to see the Red Rocks tour. I just don't want to see her twirl offstage, because honestly that's all that was portrayed to me was her falling off the stage making a spectacle, not this creative sexy woman putting on the show of her life.

As for FM, the tour they did before Rumours was out and they did Silver Springs and that was probably their peak.

I would choose:

FM:

The Dance: c'mon, "Temporary One"!

Mirage Tour: probably because EOTW was in the setlist and of course, Lindsey ;)

Stevie:

RAL: I heard that it was pretty good.

Lindsey:

OOTC: I would've loved to have seen that!

1984 Tour: I think it would've been really cool.

I've only seen FM on the SYW tour & Stevie on the TISL tours...

BUT, Going by the bootlegs I have been adding to my website I would have loved to have seen FM on either the Tusk or Rumours tour & Stevie on the RAL tour...

Drugs are still an acceptable part of rock culture.....it is just done on the sly.....it has to be....to do drugs these days openly would be career suicide......because

The media circus feels it has a right to intrude on every aspect of 'the stars' lives making or breaking them, casting them as social pariahs particularly where drugs are concerned. The media are always in the wings of the show that is the stars lives for some little slip up they are going to make and rarely report anything of value. Surely if an individual wants to travel the route of drug use knowing fully the consequences of their actions what right do we and the media have to judge those individuals?
It seems that we are far too reliant on the media to be our conscience deciding who or what is in or not and what is termed as socially acceptable. One has to question if we can still think for ourselves and have the ability to come to our own conclusions as to what is right and wrong.:wavey:

Mirage would be number one because they would play Gypsy and then all the good stuff that came before it. And Lindsey looks pretty cute in it.

Next would be Tusk and Rumours. Need I explain? That would just be so awesome!

I would loved to have seen the White album tour, just to see how their music has evolved since then. Aside from that, maybe Rumours, Tusk, Mirage, Behind the Mask, The Dance... :D

Any Stevie concerts would've been cool since I've never been to one. I'm only 14, and have only been to one Mac concert... but I've have been going to (now classic) country concerts since I was 3 months old, so go figure. I'd give anything to have been born 20, 30, or even 15 years earlier. I'm the only hell Momma ever raised... :distress:

I don't really understand your post. Who in their right mind thinks of doing drugs (besides for pot, everyone does that, I have no idea why) as something that is acceptable? The media is to blame for drug use being unacceptable? The media doesn't have to portray drug use as being something terrible, anyone with common sense, responsibility, and good regard for their health will know that drug use is a bad thing; the media doesn't ahve to report on it to shape its acceptance.

Sorry people, for digging the older discussion up, but I received the Red Rocks DVD recently and it just has to be commented upon.

Was that because of the same reasons that are visible on the Red Rocks performance (assuming that you remember what went on at that point)? Because on that one you witness the band just repeating the main riffs of “Stand Back” and “Edge Of Seventeen” for far too many bars because Stevie isn’t willing to step to the microphone and sing until a lot later.

I understand that from someone who actually attended a lot of those performances back in the day, but at least for me it is valuable. The production values are laughable, yes, but I have no problems with the ridicule and the drama going hand in hand. I do not know how much of the audio track was edited (other than just dropping certain songs) and I don’t appreciate the visual post-production (the close-ups, etc.) but the disturbance in Stevie’s voice and stage movements still comes to me through it all. There are great moments from that video vocally and visually. But of course it would be the best if the whole concert was released unedited and untampered with. As of now, though, I’m still happy that I own the whole thing.

The vast post-production work on Red Rocks has become the stuff of legends. :laugh: :nod: It isn't even the same as the actual performance. Try to get an uncut Red Rocks audio boot and you'll be shocked. Many of the songs were completely redone.

Oh, ok. But there are some bits in there that sound like Stevie is totally pissed-off, like the "it's not alright" and "you could be standing in it!" in "Stand Back", and this part in "Edge Of Seventeen" that's somewhat like the "speaking in tongues" bit in the Mirage video "Sisters Of The Moon". They seem to me like they're from the real performance.

About the uncut Red Rocks, you were going to post that on your site, weren't you? ;)

I was, but the server went bankrupt and the holidays overwhelmed me, plus I had finals...very hectic!
