To reiterate what Hayley has said, this show ROCKED my world!!

I was soo blown away by his impromptu abilities. He surprised me. He was thinking of doing a melody of choruses to some songs but he changed his mind because it would be easier to play BTLH. hehe

I thought about which song from Tusk would I love to hear but would NEVER expect in a million years...is "Save Me A Place". I have to admit it, I CRIED! That song holds sentimental value and Lindsey did a wonderful job and his voice was so soft and tender. Unbelievable!!!!

"I Am Waiting" is just as tender! Awwww!

There is much more to discuss, however, I cant think clearly at the moment.

Question to those who were there:

Do you think Lindsey and Stevie were surprised at the request for Frozen Love and/or the crowd's reaction when Stevie sang a little of it? By now they must be aware that there's a huge demand for a re-release of the Buckingham Nicks album.

A late review
 

I was there last night and the show was absolutely amazing. It started around 8:10 lasted until 11:45.

Some stuff not listed in other reviews:
Lindsey's wife and mother-in-law sat directly above me in the upper balcony. At the end of the show someone screamed out, "Thank you to your wife for letting you play this late!" and she stood over the balcony and said, "My pleasure!". Very cool lady! He pointed her out numerous times during the night.

Stevie was somewhat of a disappointment. She did not look like she wanted to be there. She didnt acknowledge the crowd at all, never said a word except for the Frozen Love part and never even really looked into the audience. It was disappointing.

The set list was amazing. It was the absolute opposite of what I thought he'd play. I thought he'd only play the songs that the MAc are playing on tour, but obviously that was not the case.
"I am Waiting" was beautiful and "Down on Rodeo" is quite a catchy song. "Trouble" was done really paired down, gorgeous!

What a truly AMAZING experience. I cannot believe I was lucky enough to attend this very special show!!!!!

Some of my thoughts
 

Be patient with my review because my mind was totally blown by the experience and at this point, my memories are a bit disjointed, disorganized, and muddled. I will give it a try though!

At first I was bummed that the first three rows were reserved solely for fan club winners and they weren't letting anyone else up there, no matter how early we'd been there. It turned out to be a great seat, though, because behind me was the camera and Lindsey was looking that way the WHOLE evening!

When I first heard the strains of "Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind" - one of my favorites - I about died! And then SYHA - one of my favorites - and later Red Rover - one of my favorites - and Go Insane... ok, you get the picture, lol. I was SO THRILLED the entire evening. Oh, I thank God I got to go!

The audience was so cool - cheering for everything. At one point someone yelled "RED ROVER!" And he said "Actually, we're doing that later." I screamed "YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" but I wasn't the only one who was excited. Everyone around me was cheering too. He looked surprised and delighted. After he played the song, he said something to the effect of: "I'm so glad you guys like that. That's my favorite piece on the album..." [at which I screamed 'MINE TOO!' along with several others] "...and really representative of what we're trying to do now. It's very... gratifying."

The only thing I didn't like was his lame intro about Greek gods - he even mentioned Zeus and Hera - I laughed out loud because I remember when I'd first heard him say that, I posted sarcastically in the Lindsey forum about Lindsey hanging out with Zeus and Hera, lol. It was the same old, same old, as many of his intros were, but other than those he was so natural and at ease. It was AWESOME.

His intro for Peacekeeper was a little different in that he used new phrasing, calling it a "satire about the disconnect that occurs when one gets too much power." Murrow was introduced by a condemnation of the media - he quoted Murrow about the power of the media for good or for bad and then talked about how much worse things are now that are on TV and how harmful that is, specifically adding "especially by those who claim objectivity."

I was usually afraid to scream things out loud, but at one point he was wiping down with a towel and it was yelled that "You know the girls want that!" Of course we were all squealing, lol. He said "Let's wait until it's more rank" or something, lol, and then I yelled, "Use more than one, and then disperse them evenly!" That got laughs from those who heard it but LB didn't. I actually think it's a good idea. The President signs bills with several pens for just that reason - so that he can give more than one person "the pen that made this bill a law" or whatever.

I screamed out "Holiday Road" a few times when he asked for requests, but unlike Robin, I didn't get mine! However, hearing those first two lines of Frozen Love... THANK YOU ROBIN! For about three seconds, I thought "ARE THEY GONNA DO THAT?!" And even yelled "DO IT! DO IT!" lol But poor Stevie forgot. The way LB was looking at her was like - "Are we really gonna do this? Do you really want to? Because I'll sing it if you will." I truly think if she'd remembered the rest they would have done the chorus acappella (though I don't think they would've done the whole song). Oh, well. That's more than we'll ever hear otherwise!

Speaking of Stevie, she came out to do NGBA, and he introduced her in a fun way - talked about cycles and healing and all that, and then he says something like "And this is a person I've known a long time - since I was about 17...." and of course the crowd goes wild - we all know who it is! "STEVIE NICKS!" Once she arrived, they whispered together for like two minutes. Finally when Lindsey paused I yelled "WHAT?!" lol They whispered some more and then got down to business. Stevie faced Lindsey during NGBA and never looked away from him, but frankly the song itself was unremarkable. It actually seemed to get less crowd response than his more unusual tunes like "Red Rover" - but perhaps I'm projecting, lol.

The look Lindsey gave Stevie during "Say Goodbye" was very intense. Stevie looked very somber and almost... stoic. And yet I also saw a hint of defiance - the way she unflinchingly meets his gaze even though "Say Goodbye" is a story about leaving her behind. Their mics were placed so close together that it was a different vibe from the vast gulf that separates them during that song on stage at FM concerts, lol. It gave it a more intimate dynamic that was so powerful. When it ended, Lindsey went over to her and they did their side hug thing... and then he hesitantly moved to kiss her head, hilariously looking out of the corner of his eye at Kristen. It was quite obvious although he tried to be smooth, lol. Somebody was saying that she was about to kiss his hand and then stopped around this point. When they decided to do it again, Lindsey said, "Well, that spoils that moment."

When they did it again, it not as intense, but afterwards they seemed more comfortable with touching each other. I think it was less emotional then, ironically, because it was like "Now we'll just do it because we did it before." I don't know, I could be confused about what happened between and after which version of "Say Goodbye." I was just so excited!

And can you believe it - NO LANDSLIDE! I have to say that I was actually relieved that in its place we would get another LB song.

At the end, when he came back after GYOW and played "I Am Waiting," a song that I - obsessive Lindsey demo collector - had never heard before, you can imagine how excited I was! I was like "MUST REMEMBER ALL LYRICS" - then I find out it was a cover, lol. Actually my first thought was that it was a cover - don't know why, maybe because of its old-fashioned sound. Then Tiffany told me it was an outtake and I thought it was orginal... whatever the case, what a treat to hear it! And "Down on Rodeo" - I wanted to sing along, but I thought "What if he sees me, since I'm in his line of sight? We're not supposed to have those" lol. I pretended that I "learned" the chorus and sang with it after the first time, though.

I was so thrilled when he told us about halfway through, after someone yelled "HOLIDAY ROAD!" That he would do his set and then "maybe stay for a few more" or something to that effect. I thought for sure he would do "Holiday Road" - he did it live for OOTC - but maybe he didn't have the right guitar tuned for it, I don't know. Once he did get out after the official set list, he surprised me by saying "I just have five more minutes, because my wife is flying home tomorrow morning and I need to be with her." I was dismayed by this little tidbit because obviously she curtailed his plans to stay for "a few songs." Oh, well, he stayed past his 5 minutes to play both "Bleed to Love Her" and "Save Me a Place." I hope he didnt get in trouble, lol. Someone yelled "Thank your wife for allowing you to stay after" and I had to laugh at that. I thought "That's a good little boy, Lindsey!" He looked up at the balcony and somewhat sheepishly repeated it to Kristen (and her mother lol). Kristen stood up and grinned broadly at that as everyone cheered for her, though, so he probably didn't get in trouble after all, lol.

Oh, and about Down on Rodeo - the words that everyone (including me) got wrong in the bridge are: "I'm going where no one has gone before, ain't never coming back." He introduced it by talking about how it was about people who aren't commited to a relationship and just window shop. I kept listening for something that would make it about either Anne or Stevie but it was much too vague. I would like to know if someone remembers more of that speech, and it is one of the things that I seem unable to remember. It seems that things I most want to remember are the ones escaping me! Just my luck.

Everything else seems to have been covered by others. If I think of anything else I'll add it later. Over all it was an incredible, special, thrilling experience and I feel priveleged to have been there.

Yeah that was me. i thought it would have been acoustic because there only was light percussion by Taku and only neal and brett were there. So i assumed: no bass, no drums, no electric rockin' GYOW. Yes I know, get out of your narrowminded view, gerald. But it still puzzles me. How does that sound without rythmsection?

It's hard to describe what GYOW was like... it was just totally guitar driven. Taku was still making some noise back there, but without the heavy bass and drums the song did sound different. It was a little more relaxed at the beginning, without the edge that the heavier rock sound w/ bass and drums adds... but by the time he got to the solo, it was more on fire than I've ever seen with the band.

It was great to hear. More than anything, I'm still in shock that he mixed it up so much and was so loose. Fleetwood Mac is always so ordered and rehearsed and doesn't step outside of the box too much- and being used to that, I forget what it could be like if that box was eliminated. I never imagined that he would, could, or would want to shake it up like that.

Nancy- I thought the Red Rover story was so silly, but even worse was the Murrow speech... I had to fight the urge to look at my watch to see how long it would go on ;-) I thought it was so funny afterwards when he was all "Do I need to do that intro again? No, I didn't think I needed to do it the first time..."

I disagree that Stevie was disinterested or bored. I really think that she wanted to give Lindsey as much respect as he deserved.

I know that there were some people that were there just to see her and I heard someone call out "Where's Stevie" long before she came out. I think that is totally rude. I am the most devoted Stevie fan in the world, but this was a Lindsey Buckingham event.

Stevie did smile when the crowd was calling her name but she was not hamming it up out of respect for Lindsey. She focused all her attention on him.

Then dont bill her as a special guest. I think she could have at least looked at the crowd, and still maintain the respect that you believe Lindsey so deserves.

Hey I loved this show. But why have her on at all then? Obviously to make sure people watch the show.

We met so many great Ledgies and that was just awesome!!!!!!!

The concert was just great. LB wore a v-neck t-shirt, black leather jacket, the leather chain, and faded black jeans. We originally were sitting is good seats, but a friend upgraded us to third row - how about that!!!!! :cool:

SGCYM - He played a white older looking Fender Strat that appeared to be from the pre-Turner days a la the middle/early days of the 70's FM. It has a great/fuller sound and was just a beautiful instrument. We know just a little about guitars (Sharon knows more than I), but this white one needs to be played more often :laugh: He also had a prerecorded track of kids' voices for this one.

Everyone pretty much sumed up the set list, so here are some juicy details we noticed in case you are interested :laugh:

SYHA sounded good and Neale (high) and Brett's harmonies were really good. It was odd not to have the higher female parts, but this less lush version really worked.

After a stunning as usual rendition of Big Love, the sweaty LB opined while shaking his hand, "I think we'll just do that one once" :laugh:

Right When he started "Trouble" I (Jason) did not recognize it as it had been so long since I had heard it. Thankfully, my dizzy moment was not too long. This song was perhaps one of the best of the night for us. It was just so up beat and reminded us of the times when he made it.

Right before Go Insane, he looked at Neale and said "What key is this in [G or E (maybe F)]?" Carne, Chili, and you other guitar oriented Ledgies should have been there to help him out!!!!!!

The towel taunting episode after Peacekeeper was just hysterical. You wild women are going to scare that poor man or Kristen is going to put a stop to the towel taunting :laugh:.

Red Rover was incredible. He explained that he may have to do the song three times because it was difficult to play and sing. He also said what is easy to do in the studio is not easy to reproduce on stage :laugh: The song had a less techno fell on the vocals, but the chorus was less full than the CD cut, but it totally worked. It was such a treat to hear this song live!!!

Then they took a break and brought La Nicks' mic. sans the decoration - it was after all his not her show and she totallu respected that despite people crying out for her. I think she did not look into the audience for that very reason - but that is our opinion. The Frozen Love lines were stunning. I (Jason) too screamed it and I have a booming voice!!!!! We almost passed out!!! She sounded great and we thought for a minute they might do it, a situation pregnant with possibilities. LB commented on the great two part harmonies they used to do - I think they should take a hint and do some more :cool: Steive's hair was parted on the side and wore her black platform less than knee high BOOTS (thank goodness no Frankenboks!). Sharon had never been that close to her and thought she was just gorgeous, which she was. They totally fed off of each other. Someone said they saw LB tell SN she looked beautiful tonight and I saw him whisper in her ear "you know I love you," probably in refeence to thanking her for being there for him. It really was touching. She also kind of hid behind him right before they walked off of the stage. It was so cute.

Exit Stevie after great versions of NGBA and Say Goodbye.

Then Murrow. Which was my (Jason) favorite of the evening. It was intersting to hear him sing "Ed Murrow had a child - IN HIS GRAVE - the damn thing went wild - IN HIS GRAVE!!" The hard rock at the end was stellar. Brett Tuggle was doing a vocal for the (Wuubbaa Wubbba Wuubbaa) parts. It was so neat seeing that. We were sitting directly in front of Brett!!!! Interestingly, LB commented on the guitar issues they had been experiencing on the road and the for the last three shows his guitars had made up their minds to be out of tune.

GYOW - stunning

Waiting for Someone - shocked all of us and was played on the white Fender. He added enough reverb to make it sound like three guitars!!!!!

Down on Rodeo - stunning!!!!!!!

Bleed to Love Her - stunning!!!!!

Save Me a Place - mindblowing. I think we will never get that opportunity again. Hopefully, "they" will realize what a gem that was and let it make the final product!!!!!!!

After notes - Although only four people were on stage, I saw two extra keyboards off stage with people playing them. I though I also saw a guy playing a guitar offstage as well.

We now feel hungover although we did not consume a drop of alcohol!!!!! What a treat for us.

OMG, I can't believe this setlist! How did Red Rover sound!!! I am freaking. Holy **** man. Thsi is awesome. Did anyone sneak a recorder in? I hope they televise the WHOLE concert and not par the setl ist down.

Ok, after reading this, and seeing that Lindsey's core group of backup guys are the guys from the Fleetwood Mac tour, he has NO EXCUSES for not changing the set list for the second leg of the tour.

Oh yea was this all done acoustically?
