Dont forget you could PM "Pix" over here for the lo-down since Trinity is also an admin over on MF.com...

Tommer, one of these days you and I should share a smoke. Ill bring the rolling papers.

edit: Mick's done some pretty sleazy things (IMO) in his day... but "piece of junk" is a description I save for others who do much worse. Sad thing about that tho is I feel he IS doing wrong by the fan club fiasco, so who knows...

Very interesting stuff people. His fanclub seems like an effin' mess, especially after reading this and breezing through that Jonathan Todd thread. Do you mean to tell me that guy has sent computer viruses to people in the fanclub? That's what I picked up from what I read.

Oh, and for those saying I should watch what I say...I never called Mick a piece of junk. I was ASKING if he was a piece of junk. There's a difference.

Uhh... I'd like to know why she doesn't count anymore. She's still one of, if not my favourite(s) member of The Mac. Does it matter that she's not in the band anymore? I don't think so.

I, and many other people including celebrities, famous producers, fellow rock stars, and seasoned session players, have mentioned that LB and, perhaps even more so, SN (not in a musical instrument way per se but in a star quality/songwriter way) had a special quality that went beyond talent - almost like they were chosen or destined to be great if I may wax poetic. So, while I get that for every talented star, there nine others that do not make it for many reasons, I also think LB and SN would have made it, esp. considering Stevie's professed ambition (which I have never heard that LB shared), they were somewhat on their way in the South, and LB was getting solid work touring with a well known band.

Also, I have briefly met Stevie a couple of times and been within one foot of her at concerts, touched her hands, etc., and let me tell you that she glows as if a light is coming from her and it makes you think there is noone else there - now that is star power to me. I know that sounds insane, but I swear its true  In fact, others have commented on it.

But, others have their opinion on such things and I respect that!!

I've brought people to Stevie shows who have never seen her before and aren't even that familiar with the music and they're mesmerized by her. I've converted quite a few people actually.

IMHO I personally think it's really sad that people feel "taken" by the fan club. I personally don't have any proof that they haven't lived up to their promises as I, like someone else said earlier, can smell a rip off a mile away. $80, or what ever it was is no chump change, and didn't seem worth it. I have to wonder if people were charged only $20 (which is not alot of money) and promised the same things and didn't receive them, would they still be calling Mick a money grabber?

Also, I don't fault Mick in trying to make money. He's a drummer in a band who doesn't write, doesn't produce or do any of the studio stuff, and basically unless the albums sell huge amounts, he's not going to make one red cent. All him and John have is the touring money. Lindsey and Stevie have song writing / producing royalties. Lindseys solo stuff hasn't sold very well and he made up for that by producing FM. Producers of albums are the ones paid first - everyone else comes after. Stevie had the best of both worlds. Popular in and out of the band.

Hey.... It's North America - and Capitalism is alive and well.

As for who he has backing him up or running the fan club. That's probably, if you feel you've been wronged, were energy should be focused.

But... since Mick is in the forefront, he's going to be the one picked on.

Mick and John hold a decent stake in the Rumours publishing among other things.

Mick's not a demon. Mick's not a god. He's just a guy. Do I think he's devious? Not really. A little dumb? Short-sighted? Even selfish? Yeah. I'm not foolish to think he's actually going to try to do me any favors or look out for my best interest. I think that makes him average. The rock stars that actually look out for the fans are the ones operating outside the norm, not Mick Fleetwood.

You're right. I guess with the new tour and album, she is kind of getting pushed to the backburner in my mind. She has always been my favorite though, or at least a close second to Stevie. I don't know. It's a toss.

Glad too see more people recognizing her contributions to FM. I know, alot of people kinda feel that way. I'm the same way, she and Stevie are so close on my list that it's a tie.

I feel bad when Christine doesn't get the credit she deserves. I bet a lot more people have heard songs by Christine then songs by Stevie! I can't go the mall shopping without hearing "You make Lovin Fun" in the background! I really wish she would have joined FM for this tour and album. I really don't get why so many people never thought of her as a great singer and songwritter, like so many think about Stevie. The only benefit I see Stevie having over Chris is that Stevie is more of a stage performer and is more of an entertainer, you know? But Chris really never made a bad song and never went through a dry spell in her music!

i think Mick has one of the most organic human drumming technique in rock and roll. his sound has made me very happy for so many years. that's all that matters. i'm not interested in his personal life - it's the music that makes the difference. i'm grateful to have been able to be a fan for so many years.

to those of you who keep focussing on the negative - maybe you have too much free time with your lives

I pretty much agree with this statement...I would hate to think of Mick as being this malicious 'piece of junk human' who only cares about money and his own well-being....Like him or not...respect him or not...I do believe he has a genuine love for what he does and for this band...maybe Mick has forgotten the reasons why he's started this band....for the love of it and the love of music... not solely for the money...Wealth is a very powerful thing...and it DOES make SOME people crazy...(I wouldn't know any of this first hand however !!) I don't know the man personally, so I can't really comment on what goes on in his head or his heart...(I personally could take him or leave him.)

I too, have not been part of the Fan Club fiasco, and from what I have read...I certainly can understand WHY people feel the way they do...and IT IS an unfortunate thing to have happen...IF Mick IS aware of what is going on and does nothing....then maybe he does derserve a little 'lashing' or whatever punishment y'all deem necessary...;)

And, IMO....Carter Beauford puts ALL drummers to shame :D

Well first of all he was a cofounder of my favorite band of all time! Also, I still don't understand how you say that the fans are paying for his "money hunger". How are they? If you are refering to the fan club, I doubt very much he is responsible. He is just way to busy to be single handedly running a fan club. I think maybe it was his idea and he was going to be the band member that was the most involved. Still, I think the person who is responsible is that guy who is actually running the financial department and what the "goodies" are that they are giving away. I never signed up for it because I can spot a ripoff a mile away. They don't even send you anything in the mail!

You don't think he is responsible for hiring a schmuck to represent him and Fleetwood Mac? I wholeheartedly don't agree with that. He's 100% responsible for the people he hires to represent him and to make money for him. If the man he hires turns out to be an ass, Mick is responsible for remedying the problem. And on top of that, the rest of the band is responsible for letting this kind of thing take place with their name (Fleetwood Mac) on it. It's ignorance and it's doing them more harm than good, IMO.

Smokin Joe 08-28-2003 07:52 PM

First of all, I would like to say that Christine will always be a part of Fleetwood Mac. Even though she is not touring with them or recording with them, she has left her mark. As far as Mick being a 'peice of junk,' well, that isn't really up to me to decide. I do know that I think Mick and John are one of the most solid drum/bass tandems in the industry and I have really not seen many better. What ever he does with his life outside of the band I care not. He is part of my favorite band and that I do respect. Always have and always will. I don't like to pick peoples personal lives apart because we all have a few skelletons in our closets. I am no different but that doesn't make me or Mick any less of a person. Now that I have said that, the music and the legends live on. Just my humble opinion.
